Dr. Chunhua Zhang and Dr. Leonor Boavida have
been chosen to serve as associate editors for
Plant Physiology. They have taken their places on
the journal editorial board starting this year. They
will be contributing commentaries, blog posts,
podcasts, and videos to highlight developments
of special interest within Plant Physiology.

GRADUATE STUDENT RECOGNITION
Congratulations to Trevor Stacy on passing his final exam for his M.S. defense! Trevor Stacy is a student with Dr. Rick Latin.
The 2018 Graduate Student Spring Travel Awards were announced at the end of March to four students who will be traveling to scientific meetings and conferences before July 31, 2018. The review committee received 15 applications. Each student will receive $500 to help defray expenses. Our hope is that their presentations will be a great opportunity for profes-sional development. Congratulations and best of luck with your presentations! Cara McCauley, PhD student with Dr. Bryan Young Oral presentation at the 2018 annual meeting of the Weed Science Society of America in Arlington, Virginia “Are all auxin herbicides created equal? A transcriptome analysis of the auxin herbicide response in Horseweed (Conyza canadensis)” Cara organized and planned the first annual “Women in Weed Science Breakfast” at this event and the WSSA will fund the event again at the 2019 meeting. Dr. Sharon Kessler has been awarded a 2018-2019 PRF Research Grant to provide support for her PhD student, Jing Yuan. The PRF Research Grants are one-year awards made by the Executive Vice President for Research and Partnerships to assist faculty who supervise PhD research in the development of new or the continuation of ongoing research projects by providing support for a half-time (0.50 FTE) PRF Research Assistantship.
Youngwoo Lee, PhD student with Dr. Dan Szymanski, has been selected by the
graduate committee to receive Bilsland Dissertation Fellowship funding for the 2018-
2019 academic year. The Bilsland Dissertation Fellowship is a Graduate School
fellowship which provides support to an outstanding Ph.D. candidate in the final year
of doctoral degree completion. Applicants must have completed their coursework
and passed their qualifying examinations. Congratulations to Youngwoo Lee on
being chosen for this prestigious award.
Congratulations to Wei Guo on passing his Prelim! He is now a PhD Candidate! Wei is a pulse student with Dr. Damon Lisch. Great Job Wei!
