Florida Community College at JacksonvilleComputing Facilities Policies and User Agreement

Florida community College at Jacksonville (FCCJ) computing facilities are defined as any computer, network,peripheral, operating system, software, or any combination thereof owned, licensed by or under the control ofFlorida Community College at Jacksonville.

A user of FCCJ Computing Facilities will:

Recognize that FCCJ computing facilities are intended to support the academic mission and administrativefunctions of the college and assume full responsibility for using these facilities in an effective, efficient, ethical,lawful and courteous manner.

Recognize that authorized FCCJ systems personnel may, while performing routine operations or investigatingsystem problems or complaints, have access to data and software stored in FCCJ computing facilities, includingelectronic mail. ,

Recognize that FCCJ disclaims responsibility for loss of data, time delay, system performance, softwareperformance or any other damages arising from the use of FCCJ computing facilities.

Understand that some systems at FCCJ are operated under license agreements with IBM, Microsoft, Novell andothers. Under these agreements, the systems may be used for instructional and research-related purposes only.

Take all necessary steps to protect the integrity of FCCJ computing facilities. Specifically, users shall not sharewith others the access codes, account numbers, passwords or other authorization assigned to them. The usershall be responsible for all access and/or authorizations assigned and all activities occurring under theseaccesses/authorizations.

Respect the copyrights of all software and data available through FCCJ computing facilities. Take reasonablesteps to protect the integrity and privacy of the software and data available.

Use FCCJ computing resources in a manner consistent with all FCCJ general policies, rules and proceduresregarding codes of conduct, academic integrity and the college environment.

Respect the policies established by the administrators of external networks such as those accessible through theInternet. The user shall also respect the policies established by the administrators of computing facilities at FCCJ.

Respect the privacy of electronic mail and other user files transmitted and stored in FCCJ computing facilitiesor at any other location accessible through a network.

Accept that a userid or program may be terminated, or its priority may be altered if it is consuming excessivesystem resources, degrading system response or threatening system integrity.

Use only those facilities which are in the public domain, or for which they have obtained explicitauthorization, at FCCJ or any other location accessible through FCCJ computing facilities.

Not use the FCCJ computing facilities for conducting private business or for personal financial gain, that isnot related to designated college programs or functions.

Not use FCCJ computing facilities for any unauthorized or illegal purpose, such as creation or deliberateintroduction of a computer virus, destruction or alteration of data owned by others, destruction or alterationof computing facilities, interference with legitimate access to computing facilities or harassment of users ofsuch facilities at FCCJ or elsewhere, unauthorized disruption of FCCJ computing facilities, attempts to discoveror alter passwords or to bypass security systems in FCCJ computing facilities or in any other computing facility.

I understand that violation of these policies may result in temporary or permanent loss of my access to any orall FCCJ computing facilities and other disciplinary actions as appropriate. I also understand that any use ofFCCJ facilities is not private and that data and/or transactions may be reviewed by system administrators as partof normal operations and that FCCJ implies no privacy or secrecy for those using its computing facilities.

I further understand that by my acceptance of employment in any capacity with FCCJ and/or registration forclasses at FCCJ and/or use of FCCJ computing facilities that I have agreed to and entered into this agreement asit is incorporated into the applications for employment and admission.

Title II of Public Law 101-542Crime Awareness and Campus Security

Florida Community College at Jacksonville is dedic-ated to the provision of a safe working and learningenvironment for all employees and students. In orderfor these individuals to promptly report criminal actionsor other emergencies, FCCJ maintains a 24-hour-a-daysecurity office at each of its facilities. The College alsohas a special emergency telephone number, ELK-HELP,manned 24 hours a day with direct radio contact to allCollege security officers.

FCCJ security officers are unarmed and do not havepolice powers, but they work closely with local lawenforcement agencies on follow-up actions or investiga-tions related to criminal activities on campus. In orderto facilitate this relationship, all employees and studentsare encouraged to promptly report all criminal orsuspicious activity to the nearest security office.

A special crime prevention unit associated with thesecurity department conducts crime prevention work-shops at each FCCJ campus throughout the year. Theseprograms are open to employees and students alike andare free of charge. In support of this crime preventioneffort, this same unit maintains points of distribution forappropriate literature at each campus.

Since the College has no recognized fraternities orother off-campus student organizations, there are norecords maintained on liquor, drugs or weapons viola-tions by students associated with such organizations.

consumption of alcohol on campus or at Collegefunctions,

use, manufacture or possession of illegal drugs ornarcotics on campus or at College functions, and

carrying any type of weapon, concealed or other-wise, on campus except as part of the law enforce-ment training program.

Sexual Assault - Sexual assault (rape) is a seriouscrime which has a major impact on the campus com-munity as well as on the students who are victimized.FCCJ will not tolerate sexual assault in any form,including date and acquaintance sexual assault. Shouldprobable cause be determined that campus regulationsprohibiting sexual assault have been violated, dis-ciplinary action will be pursued through the code ofstudent conduct or other appropriate internal pro-cesses. Discipline may result in suspension or dismissalfrom the College.

Any student or employee reporting a sexual assaultwill be treated with respect and sensitivity. Contacts andconversations which transpire pursuant to thisprocedure will be held in confidence.

Individuals who believe they have been sexuallyassaulted and wish further information or assistancemay contact the campus staff member designated toassist with sexual assaults. Any person wishing to file acomplaint may contact a campus security office.

Situations requiringimmediate administrative support will be referred to thecampus dean of student affairs.

Employee complaints will be referred to the directorof budget and human resources.

Your compliance with the policies outlined aboveand in helping to prevent crime at FCCJ facilities isappreciated. Only with your help can a safe and secureworking and learning environment be provided for allemployees and students.

Florida Community College Associate in Arts graduates are guaranteed thefollowing rights under the Statewide Articulation Agreement (State Boardof Education Rule 6A-10.024):

1. Admission to one of the state universities, except to limitedaccess programs which have additional admission requirements.

2. Acceptance of at least 60 credit hours by the state universities towardthe baccalaureate degree.

I3. Adherence to university requirements and policies based on the

catalog in effect at the time the student first entered a communitycollege, provided the student maintains continuous enrollment.

4. Transfer of equivalent courses under the Statewide CourseNumbering System.
