Spaanse export verse groenten en fruit in 2020: minder kilo’s, meer

euro’s

Fruit 17% duurder

De stijgende trend van de Spaanse export van verse groenten en fruit heeft zich in het afgelopen jaar niet doorgezet. Althans als het om volume gaat. In 2020 heeft Spanje 12,8 miljoen ton verse groenten en fruit uitgevoerd ofwel 4% minder dan in het recordjaar 2019. De Spaanse fruitexport kromp in het afgelopen jaar zelfs met 7% naar 7,4 miljoen ton terwijl de export van verse groenten met 5,4 miljoen ton maar een fractie kleiner was. In waarde gezien was 2020 echter wel een recordjaar. Er is in 2020 voor 14,7 miljard euro aan verse groenten en fruit uitgevoerd. Dat is 8% meer dan in 2019 . Het een-en-ander betekent dus dat de prijs van het Spaanse exportproduct in 2020 flink hoger lag dan daarvoor. De prijs van het verse fruit was in het afgelopen jaar zelfs 17% hoger dan in 2019. Bij groenten was dat met 7% stijging minder.

Import wel verder gegroeid

Spanje importeert ook redelijk veel verse groentenen fruit. In 2020 is de import verder gegroeid. In totaal is er in het afgelopen jaar 2,5 miljoen ton verse groenten en fruit ingevoerd. Ook bij de Spaanse import is een flinke prijsstijging te zien geweest. Gemiddeld was het importproduct per eenheid product in het afgelopen jaar 7% hoger geprijsd dan in 2019.

Vooral minder sinaasappelen, mandarijnen en tomaten

De trend van de Spaanse export wordt voor een groot deel bepaald door sinaasappelen en mandarijnen. En juist van deze 2 producten kon er in 2020 aanzienlijk minder worden uitgevoerd dan de jaren er voor. Van beide producten viel de export bijna 10% terug. Ook de export van een groot fruitproduct als watermeloenen viel in 2020 sterk terug. Bij de grote groenten producten was het beeld wisselend. De export van Spaanse paprika’s groeide in het afgelopen naar een nieuw record. De export van Spaanse tomaten verliep echter aanzienlijk

minder goed met een min van 8%. De Spaanse export van zowel komkommers en sla daalde licht. Hele grote minnen waren er te zien bij de export van Spaanse nectarines (-23%) en perziken (-19%). Er was wel een aantal producten met elk een jaarlijkse export van 150’a 200.000 ton waarvan de export in 2020 verder groeide. Het gaat om: kaki’s, knoflook, druiven, aubergines, appels en avocado’s.

85% naar EU(27) landen

Het overgrote deel (85%) van de Spaanse export van verse groenten en fruit gaat naar EU(27) landen. In 2020 is de export naar EU landen iets minder gedaald dan die naar andere landen. Duitsland is de belangrijkste afnemer met ruim een kwart van het totaal. De exportontwikkeling naar Duitsland was met een min van 3% iets positiever dan gemiddeld. De export naar Frankrijk, de tweede afnemer, deed het met een min van 1% nog wat beter. Ook de export naar het Verenigd Koninkrijk bleef met een min van 3% redelijk op peil. Nederland als vierde afnemer deed het in het afgelopen jaar minder goed.

7% minder naar Nederland

In totaal is er in 2020 974.000 ton verse groenten en fruit naar Nederland uitgevoerd. Dat was 7% minder dan in 2019.Naar Italië (-4%), Polen (-13%) en Portugal (-6%) ging in 2020 ook minder. België deed het beter met een plus van 3%. Andere landen die het in 2020 ook goed deden waren: Zwitserland (+14%), Finland (+11%), Noorwegen (+16% en Ierland (+5%).

Vooral minder geëxporteerd in de zomermaanden; dan ook prijs hoger

De daling van de Spaanse export van verse groenten is geheel toe te schrijven aan de zomermaanden, periode mei-augustus. Dat was bij alle belangrijke producten het geval belangrijke producten het geval. De mandarijnen export was ook in de januari en februari al flink kleiner. Ook de export van de belangrijke groente producten, tomaten, paprika’s en komkommers, liep in het eerste kwartaal vaak al stroef. Het hele jaar door was de doorsnee prijs van het Spaanse exportproduct hoger dan in 2019 maar het verschil was het grootst in na het eerste kwartaal.

Export naar Nederland viel in 2020 meer dan gemiddeld terug

Sinaasappelen is bij de export naar Nederland het belangrijkste product maar in het afgelopen jaar viel de export behoorlijk terug. Met een kleine 120.000 was het ruim 10% minder dan in 2019. De Spaanse export van tomaten naar Nederland viel nog verder terug (-22%). Van de belangrijkste producten liet alleen de Spaanse export van paprika’s een plus zien. Bij de minder belangrijke producten zijn er wel een aantal groeiers, zoals: avocado’s, kaki’s, en druiven. Ook de export van aardbeien deed het redelijk.

Veel uit Marokko

Bij de import valt de groei van Marokkaans product op. In 2020 is er ca. 500.000 ton aan verse groentenen fruit uit dat land ingevoerd. Dat was een kwart meer dan in 2019. Er kwamen vooral veel Marokkaanse watermeloenen binnen. Ook de import van Marokkaanse tomaten groeide fors, nl. met ca. een kwart naar meer dan 80.000 ton. De import van Marokkaanse bonen bleef stabiel op rond de 80.000 ton. De import van paprika’s uit Marokko daalde heel licht. De import van Marokkaanse sinaasappelen “explodeerede” met een groei van 45% naar 45.000 ton. Er kwamen verder ook veel meer frambozen en blauwe bessen uit Marokko binnen. Portugal is Spanjes tweede leverancier. In 2020 bleef de import van verse groenten en fruit uit dat land op hetzelfde niveau als de beide jaren daarvoor, nl. ca. 310.000 ton. Uit het buurland komen vooral sinaasappelen (+53%), appelen (+66%) en tomaten (-52%).

Steeds meer uit/via Nederland

Spanje importeert ook steeds meer verse groenten en fruit uit/via Nederland. In het afgelopen jaar groeide de import met 17% naar bijna 200.000 ton. Er is geen product dat overheerst. Sinaasappelen(!) is het belangrijkste product. In 2020 kon er meer dan 20.000 ton sinaasappelen via Nederland naar Spanje uitgevoerd worden. Het gaat hierbij om (re-export) van Zuid-Afrikaans product in de zomermaanden. In de zomermaanden gaan er ook veel tomaten vanuit Nederland naar Spanje. In 2020 was het wel minder dan daarvoor.
