Revelation 21:1-4 And I saw a new heaven and a new earth; for the

first heaven and the first earth passed away, and there is no longer any sea. And I saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, made ready as a bride adorned for her husband. And I heard a loud voice from the throne, saying “Behold, the tabernacle of God is among men, and He shall dwell among them, and they shall be His people, and God Himself shall be among them, and He shall wipe away every tear from their eyes; and there shall no longer be any death; there shall no longer be any mourning, or crying, or pain; the first things have passed away”

Revelation 22:1-5 And he showed me a river of the water of life,

clear as crystal, coming from the throne of God and of the Lamb, in the middle of its street. And on either side of the river was the tree of life, bearing twelve kinds of fruit, yielding its fruit every month; and the leaves of the tree were for the healing of the nations. And there shall no longer be any curse; and the throne of God and of the Lamb shall be in it, and His bond-servants shall serve Him; and they shall see His face, and His name shall be on their foreheads. And there shall no longer be any night; and they shall not have need of the light of a lamp nor the light of the sun, because the Lord God shall illumine them; and they shall reign forever and ever.

Death is not the End!

sacrifice his son Isaac, God could raise him again

Hebrews 11:17-19

By faith Abraham, when he was tested, offered up Isaac; and he who had received the promises was offering up his only begotten son; it was he to whom it was said, “IN ISAAC YOUR SEED SHALL BE CALLED.” He considered that God is able to raise men even from the dead; from which he also received him back as a type

Page 27: Facing Death Genesis 49:29-50:26 We Must All Die A universal truth –The fact that we die is not what is important –What is important is how we face death

Death is not the End!

• The way you view death makes all the difference in the world

– If it is the end of everything, then there is no need to seek heaven or to avoid hell

– If there is no life after death, the world is right when it says “… eat, drink, and be merry, for tomorrow we die”

Page 28: Facing Death Genesis 49:29-50:26 We Must All Die A universal truth –The fact that we die is not what is important –What is important is how we face death

Death is a Beginning!

• What lies after death – Compels us to face eternity squarely,

before death – We need not fear death once we are

rightly related to God by faith in His Son

– We need not avoid talking about it• Death promises us a time eternally

– With God– With those in the faith who have been

separated from us by death

John 14:1-3

Let not your heart be troubled; believe in God, believe also in Me. In my Father’s house are many dwelling places; if it were not so, I would have told you, for I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you to Myself; that where I am, there you may be also.

2 Corinthians 5:6-8

Therefore, being always of good courage, and knowing that while we are at home in the body we are absent from the Lord — for we walk by faith, not by sight — we are of good courage, I say, and prefer rather to be absent from the body and to be at home with the Lord.

Page 32: Facing Death Genesis 49:29-50:26 We Must All Die A universal truth –The fact that we die is not what is important –What is important is how we face death

Not the end, but the beginning!

1 Corinthians 15:55-58 “O DEATH, WHERE IS YOUR

VICTORY? O DEATH, WHERE IS YOUR STING?” The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law; but thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ. Therefore, my beloved brethren, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that your toil is not in vain in the Lord.
