Why ?For years we have known that the “face” of All Souls has not matchedour “heart” and that we have been presenting an increasingly un-welcoming and broken down exterior to our neighbours who walk by orlive within sight. Our response has been to put together a plan to open

up the site by removing the low walls around the church and to make ita more accessible and attractive set of buildings at the hub of this localcommunity.

The project is called and this (with web resources:) is a first look at the plans we have been working

on. We are publishing them at this stage for conversation and feedback.

Main Features● A disabled access ramp to a re-opened main entrance.● Glass doors on both main entrances.● The removal of the low wall at the front and side of the church.● Creation of a concourse area on the corner of Northcote/Haliburton,

by main entrances. Future plans may involve a tree and bench feature.● Smartening up of area outside The Studio.● Removal of walls extending out from the courtyard on Northcote Road

and replacement with railings along building line… inclusion of bicyclepark and new bin store in courtyard.

● Removal of curved wall at corner of Northcote/Newry Roads to openup view down Northcote from the east.

● Opening up of Northcote Road pavement to effectively double widthwith above changes.

● Removal of metal grilles from ground floor windows in church.

● Re-pointing and repair of high wall around the Newry Road end ofthe church halls.

Some questions you might be asking…

1. What stage have the plans got to and when will it be done?

We anticipate putting in for formal permission by the end of February2013. We are covered by Church of England planning law (in generalrather stricter than local Council rules) and it will take around sixmonths from submission to (we hope!) approval. We hope that thework can take place in late summer or early autumn.

2. Is it all decided or are you open to ideas? We’d love to hear what you think or any questions you have got -

please do get in touch!3. How will you pay for it?A generous donation has covered the whole cost.

4. How will you minimise disruption?By aiming to be good at communication with our neighbours!

5. What about…● Road sign - we will be asking Richmond to move the Haliburton Rd

sign from the post to the wall on the other side of the road.

● The green boxes - these are cable TV boxes. We think we will haveto live with them and are planning wooden planters behind each one.

● The boiler room cover - outside the side door to church. This will becompletely rebuild to be flush with the pavement.

6. How can I respond? If you’ve questions, comments, concerns or simply like what you see,do get in touch - our contact details are on the front page.

Do see below and overleaf for pictures of our plans.

With my very best wishes,

A short animation of a ‘fly through’ the plans as well as a 3d ‘panand zoom’ render are both available to view online.
