You were caught by the Beatle’s bug there is your place to visit. Prior to the opening, the media representatives were welcomed by Marianna Micskei Bányainé – Director Korona Hotel who said the Hotel’s space and cellar was a perfect venue to open the museum after several rebuilding took place. Two independent Beatles collectors: Gábor Molnár and Gábor Peterdi were and are fanatic collectors of the Fab4. Since 1978, Gábor Peterdi had been collecting, captured audio and video materials and a number of valuable relic material, literature and contemporary library of publications and many photos by Dezo Hoffman (1912- 1986) who was a Hungarian photographer. He earned international acclaim in the ’60s shooting photographs of the Beatles, Dusty Springfield, Rolling Stones, Marilyn Monroe, Bob Marley, Pink Floyd, Jimi Hendrix and a bunch of famous artists around in those days. Gábor Molnár – author of the „Immortal” book of The Beatles, been a huge collector of discs, DVD’s and other items from the late sixties to the present day. As the two collectors said now they finally found its worthy home and here they revealed their Beatles memorabilia collection to the public, but previously went through the „Yellow Brick Road” and after several years of unsuccessful attempts found the ideal location to keep the Beatles’ flame alive at the Hotel Korona – Eger. The Beatles Museum in Eger is the one and only national icon of the four lads and regarding to the international level, it stands in the fourth place in the line after the first at Albert Dock – Liverpool – UK, following Halle – Germany and one in Buenos Aires – Argentina – South America. The official opening was held by János Bródy Kossuth Prize-winning singer, composer. János Bródy said, the significance of the Beatles can not be overestimated, not only by the number of their fantastic music, but at the time being was also a revolution in communication through their music and left a milestone for posterity. The “Mushroom Heads” were the first ones not with just their performances, but their studio recordings creating something everlasting. The Beatles Museum has a twist in its name called to be on the „Egri Road” pronouncing as„Eggrie Road” which sounds more familiar to the „Abbey Road” at the Hotel Korona. After the offical opening, fans stormed the Eggrie Road. Was already a fantastic atmosphere on the first day of introducing the collection. After the official opening tour we stopped in the gift shop and the cashier suggested we continue our tour in the museum around the corner which included a movie, collection with uncountable items, such as a piece of brick from the Liverpool Club “The Cavern” with an original entry ticket, the place the Beatles first performed. The bricks were auctioned when the building was demolished in ’83. Want to have the look as a Beatle, no problem, there on the spot can be purchased the Beatle style black wigs. For any Beatles Fan, lots to see and interesting layout you will get it all, atmosphere, music, celebration, history, it’s a beatles shrine! After the official opening already awaited by a large number of visitor to the interactive exhibition while having six turns to entrance. Take your camera locals and foreigners … step into history, its brilliant and must-see place for all and save your day’s memories from the „Eggrie Road”. By the time the evening came, the Beatles’ greatest hits was presented at the Dobó Square by the concert of the Blackbirds Band. The museum’s opening hours and entrance fees are rolling in the side-show and in the meantime enjoy the ride. Update and snaps by Aggie Reiter
