FABIO MASSIMO BONINI

Fabio Massimo Bonini, 53, theatre, TV actor, presenter and voice artist, was born in Modena. He started his career in the mid-1970s, when he was very young, working with the first private radio stations in Liguria, but it was in 1984, when he was invited to Radio RAI by Arnaldo Bagnasco, then head of programmes at the Genoa studios, that he realised that his real home was the stage. As a result he moved to Milan where he attended theatre and acting schools and workshops, and in 1987 he began to tread the boards with a series of interesting debuts.

Since then the theatre has remained constant throughout his career. He has performed in “Coppoia Aperta” by Dario Fo with Franca Rame, “Gigì” with Grazia Migneco, “Camille Claudel” with Elisabetta Ratti, “Tre Uomini e una culla” with Corrado Tedeschi, “La Vita è mia” by Brian Clark, and “La ballata per la festa dei bambini morti di mafia” by Luciano Violante, directed by Ginella Bertacchi, to name only a few of his most important roles. At the same he was busy on TV and in other acting roles as a voiceover artist and actor for many commercials.

His TV ‘baptism’ came in 1988 when he played a small role in “Promessi Sposi” by Salvatore Nocita, produced by the RAI. This was followed by parts in “Il Colore della Vittoria” directed by Vittorio De Sisti (1989), the Italo-American soap opera “Secrets” (1992), “Servo d’Amore” with Remo Girone (1993) “Nemici Intimi” with Franco Nero (1994), “Occhio di Falco” with Gene Gnocchi (1995), and “Interset” by Gilberto Squizzato (1996). In 1997 he was chosen by the BBC for a role in three episodes of “Eastenders”, the popular British soap opera, and in April 1998 he was a co-star in the TV film “Passerà il freddo” directed by Daniele Sangiorgi.

For Mediaset he has appeared in every episode of the successful TV series “Casa Vianello” and “Cascina Vianello” (1991-2000) and played roles beside Gino Bramieri and Franca Valeri in “Norma e Felice” (1995).

In 1999 he was chosen to play a character caught up in the colourful events involving the family at the centre of the soap opera “Vivere”.

In December of the same year he was in a short film entitled “La vita tua”, directed by Roberto Palmieri for the U.P.C. in Milan. Meanwhile the return of Cochi and Renato gave him the opportunity to appear in one episode of the series “Nebbia in Val Padana” on RAI 1.

In early 2000 he took part in two cinema productions - “Honolulu Baby”, directed by Maurizio Nichetti, and “Una lunga lunga lunga notte d’amore” by Luciano Emmer, alongside Ornella Muti and Giancarlo Giannini.

Spring of that year saw him on the set of the new film by Carlo Vanzina, “Quello che le ragazze non dicono”.

Since 1990 he has presented the weekly “Programma Italia News”, Italy’s first corporate TV success, now called “Mediolanum Business News” by Banca Mediolanum, broadcast via satellite to over 7,000 financial consultants across Italy.

From 1995 to 1998 he also presented “Standa Television”, serving the 13,000 staff of the Standa Group, for the same producers, Mediolanum Comunicazione.

From 1996 to 1997 he co-presented the daily “Casa per Casa” with Patrizia Rossetti, again for Mediaset.

In September 1998 Paolo Limiti invited him to make a guest appearance on “Ci vediamo in tv”, broadcast by RAI 2. In 2001 he again appeared in the soap “Vivere” in the role of the nasty Carlo Mantegna, a character that made him a popular figure.

In 2002 he became host of a weekly talk show broadcast live on Mediolanum Channel.
