3.1 Safety rules
Starting and stopping a GENEGLACE.Use the switch provided for this purpose on the electrical terminal box.
CAUTIONWhen stopping, the rotating part of the generator maintains a residual rotation that may cause an
accident.
If it is diffi cult to reach the Start/Stop switch (machine mounted high up), request a remote control at a more convenient height. If it is necessary to switch the machine off, use the isolating switch on the electrical terminal box (three phase). Lock the equipment with a padlock on the isolating switch to prevent inadvertent starting of the machine.
The principal area of danger is located inside the ice maker itself, enclosed by an upper cover and a base cover.
It is dangerous to place the hands or any object into this area while the rotating part is turning, for example during a normal cleaning operation of the water system. It is recommended that the machine be stopped and switched off for cleaning or that the emergency switch on the upper part is used.
If the rotating part is driven by a reduction gear and a motor through a belt, a guard that can removed by using tools is provided. Operation of the machine without this guard is prohibited.
The operation of manual valves is strictly reserved for maintenance personnel with the necessary skills (risk of spurting of fl uids under pressure).
In the event of a general power failure, protect yourself against any risk when the power returns (unintended start-ing): keep personnel away from dangerous areas.
Operation of the machine without the original safety equip-ment is prohibited: torque limiter, electrical protection, pressostats, thermostats, transmission guards, etc. These devices must be maintained in working condition and the pictograms indicating the dangers must remain visible.
The drawing below indicates the principal dangerous areas of the GENEGLACE.
3. Safety and Environmental Instructions
3.2 Protection of the EnvironmentMaterials and fl uids resulting from the disposal of ma-chines must be treated via the approved channels in accordance with current regulations.
Safety and Environmental Instructions
Within the directives of the “MONTREAL PROTOCOL”, any service work that might place the cooling system in communication with the atmosphere must be performed by skilled personnel.
The use of a mains socket or an upstream isolating switch is prohibited.
Before operating, switch off the installationBefore operating, switch off the installation. All other maintenance, if required, shall be done by a qualifi ed engineer.

6.1 Positioning the machine
- Place the generator on a level, fl at surface.
- The generator must be located in a position protected from bad weather, water spray or any other liquid and in a non-aggressive environment.
- Position the generator so as to maintain adequate ac- cess for upkeep and maintenance (see Installation Handling - free access)
- The generator must be mounted suffi ciently high, in order to permit suitable storage for its daily production of ice (e.g. cold chamber, static or orbital silo, etc.).
- Avoid locating the ice output in the air fl ow from an evaporator.
- Do not reduce the cross section of the ice output.
NoteIn order to facilitate all upkeep and maintenance work on the generator, (such as regular greasing of the bearings of the shaft and the reamer), provide
accessibility below and above the machine.
Fig 512. Optional chute, easily removable for mainte -nance of generator.
ImportantRisks of freezing during machine downtime : protect the base of the pump and valve fl oat by
means of a heater housed in the base. This device will only be effective for an air tem-perature of - 10°C to + 5°Cmaximum for a period of 12 to 24 h. Beyond that, it is preferable to drain the machine if it is stopped. Also protect the water
supply pipework
NoteWhen fi tting a heater resistance, provide a circuit breaker for protection and a thermostat
to monitor the ambient air temperature.
6.2 Mountings
The opening in the generator mounting must be at least equal to the diameter «G» of the ice chute.
ImportantDo not forget to add a silicone seal all round the base of the generator to prevent water entering the
ice storage area.
The unit is mounted by the bottom of the base using the two holes provided for the purpose. Fibre seals ensure the mountings are watertight.

6.3 Ice level safety detection
The ice level safety detection, consisting of a blade and a probe, is delivered not fi tted with your GENEGLACE.
ImportantThis safety system does not control the ice maker. The ice maker does not re-start automatically after the bin is emplied.
It must be associated with a manual reset device in accordance with electrical diagram 534004.
In order to prevent direct action due to ice fl akes falling on the switch “fi nger” : - the blade must be screwed into the lower end of the central shaft and positioned opposite the reamer, (see drawing opposite).
- the switch and its end must be positioned in line nith and underneath on of the supporting arm of the cen- tral bearing of the generator.
In the case of an insulated wall, we recommend the following method of fi xing :
Positioning the machine
Stainless steel threaded rod
Stainless steellock nut
Stainless steel washer

RecommendationRisk of frost : fi t the water supply and overfl ow pipes with a device (insulation and/or heater) to protect them
against freezing.
7.2.1 Connection to the water supply
The water supply should preferably be connected by a fl exible hose to the 15/21 threaded connector + fl ange. Rigid pipe can also be used soldered to the 10/12 smooth brass connector.
NoteIt is a good idea to fi t a shutoff valve in the water in
order to make maintenance operations easier.
When tightening the fl ange connector, hold the fl oat valve so that its water outlet is perpendicular to the bottom of the base and the rod and fl oat valve can move freely up and down.
ImportantIn order to prevent malfunctions of your
GENEGLACE and from a food hygiene point of view, it is a good idea to fi t a water fi lter or purifi er
as required.
In fact, fi ltering the water supply may considerably slow down the deposition of impurities in your GENEGLACE, but not scale formation. For this reason, when the hard-ness of the water is too high, the use of a softener is required.
ImportantIn order to prevent malfunctions of your
GENEGLACE it is a good idea to fi t a device for pro-tection against falls in pressure or water fl ow rate.
7.2.2 Overfl ow connectionIn the event of malfunction of the fl oat valve, the ex-cess water escapes through the overfl ow. The overfl ow therefore prevents any overfl ow of water through the ice descent hole and thus into the ice store.
The overfl ow water must fl ow into the drains as required by the regulations. The drain pipe must not have a rising portion that could prevent the natural fl ow of water, and its slope must be suffi cient.
7.3 Electrical connectionThe type of electrical power supply is stated on the rating plate attached to the generator.Ensure that the electrical supply for your GENEGLACE complies with the regulations in force and in the following respects :
voltage (Volts) three phase or single phase + Earth frequency (Hz) installed power (KVA) nominal current (A)
ImportantThe cross section of the electrical supply cable must be adequate for the installed power of the machine (see rating plate) and comply with cur-rent standards. An electrical protection device complying with current standards must be fi tted to protect the various parts of the machine. Using the electrical diagram of the machine, check the polarity of the electrical connection of single phase
generators.
Hydraulic and Electrical connections
An electrical control box is obligatory to control the opera-tion of the generator. The electrical sequences and cur-rent regulations must be followed (refer to the functional diagram section).
The water consumption of your GENEGLACE is equal to its ice production
the water supply pressure must be between 2 bar mini-mum and 4 bar maximum. The water fl ow rate must al-ways be constant and greater than that due to the water consumption of your GENEGLACE. If this is not the case, the installation of a pump and reservoir and/or an expan-sion valve is essential.

7.4 Connections to the refrigerating circuit
7.4.1 General topics concerning the liquid and suction pipes
ImportantEvery precaution must be taken to ensure that the refrigerant piping is clean and free from moisture
and enhances oil return to the compressor.
Concerning the suction pipe, as far as possible the loss of pressure between the generator and the compressor must not exceed a value corresponding to a variation of about 1 to 2°C in the temperature of the saturated fl uid.
7.4.2 Generator and refrigerating system located at the same level
F15 and F30 generators are fi tted with a thermostatic ex-pansion valve. A heat exchanger is supplied not mounted with the generator. Install it according to the diagram below, horizontally and close to the generator.
The diameters of pipes «section 7» can be retained for a maximum developed length of 6 m.
7.4.3 Generator and refrigerant systems located at different levelsIn the case where the compressor and the generator are mounted at different levels, certain precautions concerning the piping must be taken into account.
7.4.3.1 Suction pipe The suction pipe must be arranged with a slope descend-ing towards the compressor and any part of the piping that could constitute a fl uid trap must be avoided.Wherever the suction piping has to rise, a siphon must be provided to form an oil trap at the output from the evapora-tor. It is advisable to install a double siphon three metres from the rising piping.Regarding the section of suction piping sloping towards the compressor, a reverse siphon must be placed at the top in order to prevent any return behind of oil.
Where the suction piping is very long, it is recommended, after a section of ascending piping of suffi cient size to en-sure the correct oil carry-over, that a change is made to a larger cross section in order to minimise pressure drop. The suction piping must be thermally insulated in accord-ance with current technology. The thermal insulation must have a thickness of at least 13 mm and must tight to vapour migration (this is to prevent rotting of the insulating material).
7.4.3.2 Liquid pipe
Any gas trap must be avoided, that is any section of pip-ing in an inverted «U» so as not to interrupt the fl ow of liquid.A solenoid valve on the liquid line must shut off the supply of refrigerant fl uid from the generator in order to avoid any risk of liquid fl uid fl owing into the compressor.Where the difference in level is greater than about 5 m, it is recommended that the liquid pipe is increased in size. In this case, it is possible that the selection of the expan-sion valve may have to be reconsidered, no longer taking into account the condensation pressure but the pressure existing upstream of the expansion valve.

8. Initial start upThis section gives the chronological order of the checks and actions to be carried out before, during and after the initial start up of your GENEGLACE in complete safety. This is why, before operation of your GENEGLACE, we invite you to refer to the recommendations suggested in this section, by ticking X the boxes corresponding to the checks you carry out. (See section‘’Commissioning Check List’’).
8.1 Checks and adjustments8.1.1 Hydraulics
Ensure that the water fl ow rate is greater than the quantity of water required for maximum production of your GENEGLACE and that the water quality is as required.
Check that the water supply pressure of your ma- chine lies between 2 and 4 bar.
Check, by pressing on the valve fl oat, that water is reaching the base.
8.1.1.1 Presetting the fl oat valveThe fl oat valve has two basic settings. The fi rst setting is the level of water in the base. The level must be suffi cient to prevent cavitation of the pump through lack of water on the one hand and to prevent overfl ow on the other hand. The second setting is for the water fl ow rate, which must correspond to the quantity of water necessary for the maximum ice production rate of your GENEGLACE.
Fig. 7111. Illustration of the fl oat valve in its closed and open positions.
♦ Setting the level
By turning the screw 6, adjust the water level in the base while observing the following dimensions :
Once the adjustment of the water level in the base has been completed, lock the setting with the lock nut 5.
♦ Adjusting the fl ow rate
♦ Measure
Adjusting the fl ow rate of the fl oat valve must be carried out when its fl ow rate is not suffi cient to provide the water required for the production of ice in your GENEGLACE.In this case :
shut-off the water supply and remove the inlet connector of the machine.
Unlock the nut 2, (see fi g. 7111) Unscrew adjustment 1 in the housing 3 to increase
the fl ow rate. Lock the setting by locking the nut 2 on the housing
3, the normal setting of dimension R varies from 1 to 3 mm.
Adjust the water level
To prevent fl ooding of the ice container if the fl oat valve sticks open, check, with the machine stopped, that the fl ow rate of the valve when the fl oat is completely submerged does not exceed the capacity of the overfl ow.
If, after 1 hour of operation, the level in the base is lower than the minimum level, increase the fl ow rate of the valve as described above
TipAt the fi rst start up, submerge the fl oat to obtain a water level close to the overfl ow, in order to assist priming of the pump.

8.1.3.2 Levels in the distribution tank
The water level must be a minimum of 15mm and a maximum of 1mm below the dent at the top of the upper water tray.In this case, check that the water reaches the overfl ow pipe of the distribution tank and is continuously removed by it.
Correct level (minimum 15 mm)
If the water level in the distribution tank is too low, raise the overfl ow pipe or refer to the section «Adapting of the water pump».
If the water level in the distribution tray is much too high, check that the holes in the tank are not blocked or fi le down the base of the overfl ow pipe or refer to the section « Adapting of the water pump».
8.1.2 Electrical systemWe checked previously that the water pump was function-ing correctly.
Adjust all the circuit breakers to the values corre- sponding to the nominal current consumed by their respective motors.
Adjust or preset the time delays. Checking the reamer motor :
Check that the motor is correctly coupled.energise the motor from a separate supply to check :
that the direction of rotation of the rotating parts is the same as that shown by the arrow marked on the top of the generator
that the speed of rotation of the reamer corresponds to the production rate of the machine (see “Specifi cations”)
Note The speed of the reamer is the number of complete revolutions made by all the rotating
parts in one hour.
At the same time, check the operation of the torque limiter by causing it to trip.
To do this it is suffi cient to trip the torque limiter by manually moving the roller of its microswitch. To reset the limiter, hold the reamer motor with both hands and turn it a few degrees in a clockwise direction
Fig.712. Illustration of resetting the torque limiter after trip-ping.
Check the operation of the high level safety switch by tripping it.
8.1.3 Refrigerating checks
8.1.3.1Before initial start up
Check for leaks in the refrigerating system. Ensure that the expansion bulb is correctly located
on the suction pipe, is held securely and is well insulated.
In the case of an independent refrigerating system, that is a generator connected to a compressor alone, the fl uid charge of the generator is indicated in the section (“Specifi cations” under “Connections”). The installer must provide the charge for the remain- der of the system.
Initial start up
For generators F15 and F30, the water level in the up-per water distribution tray is obtained by the fl ow rate of the water pump and the regulation of its over fl ow tube.In order to check the water level, switch on the pump alone after checking that the water level in the base is suffi cient.

8.1.3.2 Starting your ice machine Check that the starting procedure of your
GENEGLACE is carried out as described in the sec- tion ‘’ Diagram of operation’’.
Check that the distribution tank is correctly fi lled with water.
Adjust the back pressure valve to the reference suction pressure for your GENEGLACE (in the case of connection to central refrigeration plant).
Adjust the superheater 4 to 6 °K see section ‘’Adjus- ting the expansion’’.
Check the correct oil carry-over to the compressor (in the case of refrigerating system with a dedi- cated compressor).
After a few minutes of operation, check that ice is forming over the full height of the drum swept by the reamer.
If this is not the case, see the section ‘’Faults’’.
8.1.4 Other checks Check that the ice is stripped correctly.
If after a few minutes of operation the generator makes a signifi cant noise when the ice is stripped or the ice has diffi culty in releasing itself, see sections ‘’Faults and Addition of salt’’.
Check that the wipers are performing their function (no water fl owing into the ice store). To adjust the wipers see section’’ Adjusting the wipers’’.
Check, by simulating the presence of ice while pressing on the switch, that the ice safety detector is operational.
If required, adjust the salt dosage. See section ‘’Addition of salt’’.
ImportantThe high ice safety detector is, as its name indi-cates, a safety device for the generator and not a control device. For this reason, it should never be used for the purpose of controling the quantity of
ice in the bin.
8.1.4.1 Addition of salt
Check that the salt addition system is operating correctly.
8.2 Recommended uses
In the case of an independent refrigerating system, leave the power supply of the system switched on during periods of stoppage : the crankase heater must remain live.
In the same case, after a long period without electrical power, power on at least 3 hours before starting-up.
Avoid short duration run and stop periods. It is preferable to leave the machine operating for 4 hours rather than short-cycling it 4 times 1 hour on and 1 hour off.
During prolonged stoppages (more than a week), it is advisable to run the machine for 1 hour without adding salt and to drain and dry the base.
Management of a stock of ice : The basis for calculating the effective volume is : 500 kg about of freshly fl aked ice for 1m3 of storage.
To keep the ice fresh, do not keep it for more than 2 days.
The ice storage container must be emptied at least once a week so that the user has no diffi culty in extracting the ice. There is also a risk of damage to the GENEGLACE, by a build-up of ice in the generator.
8.3 Start-up reportA start-up report at the initial start up will :
- enable you to check the correct operation of your installation by noting a few key points of operation.- Open all right for warrantly.
You will fi nd an initial start up report at the end of this notice, it has four headings.
- Points to note : description of the inspection or check to be carried out.
- Values : generally a physical quantity to be measured and entered or a box to be ticked as checked.
- Where to note : the exact location of the note or check to be made in relation to the fl uid diagram attached to the note.
- How to note : for the purpose of helping you to make the most accurate note possible by means of a precise procedure.

9. Operation
9.1 Principle of operation
9.1.1 Description of generator
Fig.1 Simplifi ed exploded view of a generator
Fig.2 Simplifi ed exploded view of a generator, and an illustration of the water distribution seen from above.
The water distributed by the tray B fl ows copiously and continuously over the internal surface of the stationary drum F, inside which a low temperature refrigerant fl uid circulates inside the double wall E. The insulation G of the drum ensures heat exchanger withf the water only.
Part of this water M is frozen and the excess returns via the lower water pan H into the base O, where the level P is kept constant by means of a fl oat valve (not shown). This water circulated by the pump N.
A helical reamer D, driven through a reduction gear A, sweeps the surface L, when the coat of iceis thick enough, the reamer starts rotating and harvesting the ice by ap-plying pressure on it.
The torque limiter K switches off the electrical supply to the motor-gearbox when in the event of mechanical overbad.
The thickness and quantity of ice produced by the genera-tor depends on : - The refrigerating power applied to the generator - The speed of rotation of the reamer.
ImportantThe thickness of the ice does not depend on the spacing of the reamer from the drum. IT IS DANGER-OUS TO SPACE THE REAMER AWAY FROM THE DRUM this can cause : fatigue of the bearings, tripping of the torque limiter, slugging and oil departure that
could destroy the compressor.
In the factory, the reamer is set as close as possible to the drum : a distance of less than 0,4 mm, for a proper operation.
The sprayed area Q is bounded by two wipers C1 and C2, which surround the reamer D. The purpose of wiper C1, situated before the reamer, is to dry the ice before the latter reaches the subcooling zone S. The area R for stripping the ice is located between one blade of the reamer D and the rear wiper C2.
The purpose of this wiper is to remove the residues of ice which may have remained on the drum after the passage of the reamer. There is no fl ow of water in the areas R and S. So the perfectly dry ice I is stripped in the area R and falls into the storage bin under the machine. However, for the rear wiper to effectively clean the surface, it must be adjusted in such a way that a thin trickle of water fl ows along its forward face in contact with the surface (1 mm approx.), as shown on fi g 2
NoteThe reamer speed is set in the factory and cannot be changed without the risk of causing operating
problems.

9.2 Electrical sequencesWhen starting the ice machine, with the compressor work-ing, only the solenoid valve for the water supply is open. After the time delay T1 of between 1 and 3 minutes, the water pump and the reamer start, the ice machine is then in its normal operating confi guration.
If the torque limiter trips, the solenoid valve, the reamer motor and the water pump stop immediately. When the torque limiter is reset, the start up procedure is repeated as when starting. On stoppage of the machine, the water pump and the solenoid valve cut out while the reamer continues to rotate for 3 minutes.
In the case where the system for adding salt comprises a dosing pump, its operation will be slaved to that of the functioning is dependent on that of the fl uid solenoid valve.
Electrical sequences
Time delay T1 : Time required to fi ll the cylinder with refrigerant before starting production. (15s to180s).Ice safety detector : Safety blade + Switch (Reset by Manual Electrical Switch).Time delay T.KA1 : Time required for cleaning the cylinder after stopping the generator. 9.2.2 When the compressor serves a single ice generator
9.2.3 Automatic starting and stopping
Ice production can be controlled by a clock. The start time is estimated according to the capacity of the ice bin (500 Kg of ice approx.per cubic meter) and the hourly production rate of the machine.
ImportantIn order to avoid short cycles that could damage your GENEGLACE, the ice level detector
switch must be associated with manual or time-delayed resetting.
The electro-mechanical ice level detector (a blade driven by a micro-motor) is the most commonly used. In order to avoid short cycles, also use the terminal box 534004 requiring manual resetting or 534005 permitting time-delayed resetting T2.
If the ice level detector or the clock trip, the solenoid valve and the water pump stop immediately while the reamer continues to rotate for 3 minutes.
When this safety device is reset, the start up procedure is repeated as when starting.
Electrical sequences
When starting the ice generator, the compressor, the liquid feed solenoid valve, water pump and reamer begin working simultaneously. If the condensing unit is outside there may be a delay of a few seconds before the reamer and the pump start. (This is to ensure that at least 3/4 of the height of the generator is frozen at the start). On the diagrams according to T1 a question mark has (?), this suggests that it is not always necessary to install it, if the condensation unit is near the generator.

9.3 Refrigeration operation
As we saw in the section ‘’Description of operation’’, the refrigerant fl uid circulates freely in the double wall :
After expansion, the refrigerant is injected through the injector in the lower part of the drum. The fl uid occupies the complete double wall where it changes from a liquid to a gaseous state. The consequence of this evaporation is to absorb the heat introduced by the water fl owing against the inner of the drum, where it is converted into ice. All the heat is exchanged through the inner wall, and the refrigerant cannot contact the water to be frozen at any time.
The refrigerant is circulated and regenerated by a con-denser system.
ImportantThe refrigerating power applied to the generator must
be close to that recommended by GENEGLACE.
Too low or too high a refrigerating power may cause serious malfunctions.
In order to ensure trouble-free operation of the ice machine, the fl ow of refrigerant fl uid injected into the generator at reduced pressure must be perfectly controlled in order to obtain optimum and constant fi lling of the generator.
9.3.1 Adjustment of expansion valveThe thermostatic expansion valve must only be adjust-ed when the refrigerant has been correctly loaded and the condensation pressure is constant and close to the average operating conditions.
The following depend directly on correct adjustment of the expansion valve :
- the fi lling of the generator with refrigerant fl uid and thus the production of ice.- the evaporation pressure.- the superheat of suction gas.- the oil carry-over to compressor.
Indirectly, misadjustment of the superheat may have me-chanical consequences for the generator itself and also to the compressor. The thermostatic expansion valve is adjusted according to the superheat.
NoteIf the refrigerating power is too great, a back pres-sure valve must be used which can be adjusted (together with the expansion valve) to the suction
operating pressure.
9.3.1.1 Superheater
Fig. 842. Illustration of adjustment of the superheat.
The value to be obtained for the superheater must be between 4 and 6 K.
The superheater ensures icing of the drum over its full height and appropriate oil carry-oil to the compressorl.
Too great a superheater (expansion valve too far closed) results in insuffi cient fi lling with consequent trapping of oil in the drum. The production of ice is greatly reduced.
Too small a superheater (expansion valve too far open) results in overfl owing of the liquid towards the compressor. (risk of slugging to compressor)
ImportantFor the use of any fl uid other than R22 or R404A,
consult GENEGLACE beforehand.
Refrigeration operation
The superheater is the difference between the surface temperature measured near the bulb and the temperature corresponding to the evaporation pressure taken on the suction line near the generator. Bulb position according to refrigerant see section “refrigeration diagrams”.

10. Addition of saltThe operation of a fl ake ice machine is improved by adding sodium chloride to the water to be frozen.Addition of salt :
- delays the formation of scale when hard water is used.
- gives larger fl akes, with less breaking up or “snow”.
- facilitates ice harvesting and minimises the forces produced by reaction on the reamer.
In short, large fl akes of ice are produced with ‘‘smoother’’ operation.
To add the salt, two methods are proposed :
- the standard dosing system uses calibrated tablets 25 mm in diameter, as employed in water softeners for the regeneration of resins.- a dosing pump using a solution of purifi ed salt (fi ne cooking salt) dissolved in water in PVC containers.
The quantity of salt consumed is indicated in the section (Dosing Pump). 80 to 100 g of salt is added per tonne of ice, the usual quantity, to be adjusted according to the water quality.- Ice which is very broken up indicates a lack of salt which is often due to very soft water.- Ice in very large fl akes that can be detached before the passage of the reamer indicates too high a dosage.
Precautions must be taken in the use of these system :
- The tablets used in the standard dosing system must be perfectly cylindrical with at least one fl at end so they do not jam in the vertical pipe. The position of the latter must not be altered after fi lling. Adjustment of the fl ow rate is possible but requires much care.
Monthly cleaning of the base of the dosing system will keep it operating correctly.
- The purifi ed salt used with dosing pumps must be dissolved in small successive quantities to ensure a complete melting, either in cold water or preferably hot water. Final mixing, after complete fi lling of the PVC tank, will ensure a homogeneous solution.
A dosing tube is a system for adding salt, mounted in series, in the case where there is no other system avail-able for adding salt.
The dosing tube is attached by two collars to the drum of the generator.
It consists of a clear, rigid tube closed at the bottom by a drilled stopper held by a collar. A small metal tongue collects water from the fl ow at the base of the drum and conducts it to the dosing tube.
The water collected in this way penetrates between the tube and the stopper of the dosing tube, and comes into contact with the salt tablets.
This procedure generates a steady drip of salt water that passes through the hole in the base n° 3.
10.1 The salt dosing tube
The dosing tube is fi tted in a corner of the base and po-sitioned so that the base 3 is 70 mm from the bottom of the base and the tongue is directed towards the shaft. The n° 1 hole must engage with the head of the screw of the top collar.
10.1.1 Adjusting the salt dosing tubeBy raising base no. 3, or reducing the inclination of the tongue no. 4, the salt consumption is reduced (and con-versely) F15 and F30.The dosing tube of the F30 is provided with an orifi ce located in front of the tongue which by uncovering it in-creases the consumption of salt (and conversely).
ImportantThe recommended salt consumption is given in
the Dosing Pump section.

Salt consumption
10.2.3 Salt consumptionThe production rates and the lives indicated in the table below are given for 24h/24h operation under nominal condi-tions of operation with air at +25°C and water at +15°C.This data is for a salt solution of 80 to 110 grams per tonne of ice produced.
10.2.4 Operation of the dosing pump
10.2.4.1 Operation
TipThe salt dissolves more quickly if you use
hot water.10.2.4.2 Priming the salt dosing pump
TipIf you are unable to prime the pump using the method indicated above, you can unscrew the pump inlet connector and prime the pump by
immersing the inlet pipe in the brine.
RecommendationIt is recommended that an interrupter switch be in-stalled beside the feed of the dosing pump in order to switch it off when changing the brine container
so that it does not require repriming.
“to be amended according to the quality of the water”, see limits chapter 2.4 and refer to GENEGLACE. Do not wait until the brine container
is empty before replacing it.
- apply power to the dosing pump with # 1 on/off switch
- Adjust stroke at 100 % (# 3) and the speed at 80 % (# 2).- Turn the knurled knob located on 4-way valve E for a
1/4 turn and maintain it open.until brine drips out of the draining tube (return to bin).
- After successful priming release the knurled knob.- Adjust the # 2 and # 3 knobs according to the ice maker
as per table 1.- Ensure that brine is dripping at the injection valve B.
Pump is shipped from the factory with water in the pump head to aid in priming. After a prolonged stop, remember to fi ll again the pump head with water.
The salt dosing pumps uses brine - either saturated or non-saturated.
The saturated brine is made with 10 Kg of rock salt (or salt tablets) immersed in 30 liters of water.
The non-saturated brine is made with 5 Kg of fi ne table salt diluted in 30 liters of water

11. OptionsThe options cover any equipment peripheral to the ice machines connected directly with their operation and of-fered by GENEGLACE.
11.1 Electrical terminal boxYou will fi nd this in the section diagram of operation on the terminal box in option for a generator connected to a central refrigeration system.
It is suitable for a three phase + neutral supply.
11.2 «ILD» Ice level detector (regulation)11.2.1 Specifi cations
11.2.2 Principle of operationThe device includes an engine which drives a rod equipped with a sensor on one end. The assembly ro-tates continuously. When the ice reaches the sensor, the resistance causes a rotation of the motor on its axis which triggers a small switch.
This switch then cuts the supply to the “ILD” motor and also trips another changeover switch dedicated to the output signal which stops the ice machine. When the level decreases, the “ILD” motor returns to its initial position and starts to rotate again.Production of ice then becomes possible again.
11.2.3 MountingIt is important to consider the angle of slope formed by the fl aked ice in the storage container when choosing the position of the The Ice Level Detector (ILD) .
Fig. 8623. Illustration of a possible mounting of the «ILD».
11.2.4 Connection to the terminal box
ImportantIn order to avoid repeated starting of the
GENEGLACE, it is recommended that you install manual or automatic time-delayed resetting.
11.3 Remote Control
Options
The (ILD) must be positioned in such a location that it prevents ice from building-up inside the ice generator.Position the(ILD)in order to avoid a build-up of ice in the generator cylinder.
The (ILD) can be installed inside the ice storage contain-er. Every precaution must be taken to ensure that the passage of the (ILD)cable through the wall is watertight.
With this time switch you can enter several programmes to switch the ice machine on and off.
A 5 core cable is suffi cient to connect the «ILD» : 2 for the control (terminals 1 and 2) and three for the power supply (terminals 4, 5 and 6). Refer to the end of the instructions.
Supply voltage 220 volts single phase 50 Hz Consumption 3 – 4 VA Changeover switch 1 inverser - 6A - 220V Protection of housing IP 65 Rotor speed 12 r.p.m. Reinforced tube Stainless steel 28 mm diameter Retractable blade Polyamide Housing Red ABS Stuffing gland 16 mm diameter Mounting Horizontal or vertical Motor Switched off in detection position Blade Friction system
The remote control can be used to set different operating times for the GENEGLACE.
It is a digital time switch controlled by a microprocessor.
Programming instructions and a connection diagram are supplied in the remote control box.

12.2 Routine maintenance12.2.2 Descaling
- Stop the machine or isolate the supply to the terminal box.
- Pour a measure of the descaler into the base tank in accordance with the table.
- Top up with water to reach the overfl ow of the base.
- Start the reducer and the pump only for about 1 to 2 hours according to scaling.
- Stop operation, drain and rinse 2 or 3 times while restarting the reducer and the pump.
Recommended descaling products - PR 5200 ST (France)
A technical data sheet accompanies each container, giving instructions for use.
THE INSTRUCTIONS MUST BE READ BEFORE USE.
Average dosage 7%
ImportantTake care that the descaler does not fall into the ice
storage container.
Routine maintenance
With time, certain problems can arise with the operation of the ice machine associated with the water quality.
The two main sources of problems are scaling and prolif-eration of micro-organisms.
In addition to the potential risks associated with public health, in both cases the operation of the ice machine can be seriously affected.
We therefore recommend a range of products for descal-ing and attacking micro-organisms.
Important
15.2.1 Anti-micro organism productPR 61 is an anti-algae sanitary decontaminant product for any microbial contamination. It is in the form of a clear liquid.- Density 1.02.- PH 7.
It is sanitary and not dangerous to use.It is not volatile. It is rapid and works on any surface. It has great powers of decontamination. It can be added to a sanitary descaler to act as both a descaler and decontaminant. It halts corrosion of the walls of systems attacked by microbial corrosion.
PR 61 consists of dimethyl benzyl ammonium chloride. This type of cationic detergent is authorised in annex 1, an approved product for cleaning equipment that may come into contact with foodstuffs. Decree of 27 October 1975.
We test all our products ourselves to ensure they meet all reliability criteria in terms of effectiveness and compatibility with GENEGLACE machines.
The use of other products (for example : hydro-chloric acid) will cause irreparable damage to
the generator.
For purposes of good hygiene and correct operation, external cleaning of the generator assembly is essen-tial. Dusting before washing by hand is recommended, in order to prevent bacteria from multiplying. Do not use a water jet, or high pressure washer.

OPERATION OF THE TORQUE LIMITER
If the ice is not harvested correctly, the torque limiter reacts:
The stop N°2 is compressed by the arm N°1.
The head of screw no. 3 presses on the roller on the switch arm in front of it and stops the complete installation
TOOLS REQUIRED ONE CALLIPER GAUGE
ONE G-CLAMP
TWO 13 MM FLAT SPANNERS
ADJUSTMENT OF THE TORQUE LIMITER With the machine switched off and stopped, see safety instructions. Measure dimension ( A ) in the drawing above using a calliper gauge.
Subtract the following values from the measured dimension:
PACK 11 2,5 mmPACK 12 or generator F15 2,5 mmPACK 13 et 14 or generator F30 3,5 mm
Take the G-clamp and compress the stop no. 2 to obtaindimension A, minus the value chosen above. Unscrew screw no. 3 until the switch operates. Remove the G-clamp. Reset the switch (hold the motor-gearbox assembly in your hands and rotate it clockwise in order to decompress stop no. 2. The spring no. 4 facilitates this movement. Take the G-clamp and compress the stop until the switch operates. Measure dimension A which must be: dimension A minus the chosen value. Hold the head of screw no. 3 and tighten the nut no. 5.Remove the G-clamp. Reset the switch.

20. Adjustment of Rubber Wipers Blade
Adjustment of Rubber Wipers Blade
- Both wipers are positioned in the water distribution tank and held with a flat nut and a blind nut locked together.
- Stop the machine using the main and isolating switches for safety.
- Using a 10mm box spanner to turn both the 2 nuts, turn the front wiper to position A and the rear wiper to position B. They must remain in these positions. If they do not, retighten the lock nuts at the bottom, under the collection tank.
- A very thin film of water must be visible at the rear wiper 2.
- Positions C and D cause deformation by strong pressure on the drum. Positions E and F cause water to flow into the stripping area.
- The good condition of the front wiper can be checked from below the generator.

22. Adjusting the Reamer
Adjusting the Reamer
Important Before operating, switch off the installation
TOOLS REQUIRED:
• 1 engineer’s wedge set, 1 Allen key, 1 screwdriver, 1 extending ratchet handle, 1 bushing size 22
• Place the reamer opposite the inspection hole• Select the largest tooth on the reamer using a set of engineer’s wedges, turning them one after ano- ther perpendicular to the cylinder.( c )• Loosen the screw ( v )• Position the selected tooth ( d ) perpendicular to the cylinder• Manoeuvre the reamer axis ( a ) placing the screwdriver in one of the slots ( e ) turning in a clockwise direc- tion to distance the reamer tooth from the cylinder• Manoeuvre the reamer axis ( a ) placing the screwdriver in one of the slots ( e ) turning in an anti-clockwise direction to bring the reamer tooth towards the cylinder• Take a wedge equal to or less than 0.4mm and place it between the tooth and the cylinder.• Manoeuvre the reamer axis ( a ) placing the screwdriver in one of the slots until there is contact between the tooth/wedge/cylinder• Isolate this adjustment by locking the screw ( v ) while maintaining the axis ( a ) with a screwdriver in one of the slots• Remove the wedge by turning the reamer on itself
• To adjust the lower section of the reamer, fi rstly loo- sen the hexagonal cap screw, positioned under the arm locking he reamer axis• Repeat the same procedure on the top section, bearing in mind that the slots ( e ) are replaced with pins ( g ) which can be moved using your fi ngers • The only difference is that turning the pins in a clockwise direction brings the tooth closer to the cylinder and turning in an anti-clockwise direction distances it.• Tighten the hexagonal cap screw to lock the reamer axis once the adjustment is completed
