F1-19Mercmaster III Enclosed andGasketed HID 50-250WLighting FixturesHigh Pressure Sodium, Metal Halide and Mercury Vapor.Listed for simultaneous exposure to combustible dustsand flammable gases or vapors.
• Mounting hoods include cone-shapedpendant hood (sheds dust, helps dis-sipate fixture heat), standard pendant, ceiling and wall (tapped for 3/4" or 1"NPT), 25° angle stanchion, and straightstanchion (both tapped for 1-1/4" or1-1/2" NPT).• Cone hood fixtures for pendantmounting shed dust, dirt and combus-tible fibers. Inhibits build-up that "in-sulates" fixture and slows heat trans-fer. Also provides increased surfacearea for more effective heat dissipation.• Reflector choice includes standarddome and 30° angle types, both madeof fiberglass-reinforced white polyes-ter. Highly resistant to unusually cor-rosive applications. Reflectors arevented for cooler, dirt-free operationand maintained lumen output. Theysecure to ballast housing with stain-less steel screws threading into stain-less steel inserts.• For high corrosion resistance, fixturehousing, mounting hoods and guardsare copper-free die-cast aluminum withbaked epoxy finish, electrostaticallyapplied for uniformity. All exposedhardware is stainless steel.• Hinge has high lip for added safetyduring installation and servicing. Hingeand bolt construction assures 360°compression at all points on ballasthousing gasket for positive sealing.Swing-away design of captive bolt andnut simplifies servicing.• Body gaskets and globe gaskets arehigh-temperature silicone rubber.• Capacitors are non-PCB type, ther-mally isolated from ballast.• Mogul porcelain socket with nickel-plated contacts has 200°C weldedleads, prewired to the ballast. Assurestrouble-free operation in installationswhere high ambient temperatures areencountered.• HPS ballasts are High Power Factor(Min. P.F. 90%). SOW HPS fixtures havedual tap (120V or 277V) ballast. Allother fixtures have multi-tap ballast(120V, 208V, 240V or 277V) or 480Vballast. Ballasts are Class H insulated.• All Mercmaster III mounting hoodshave provision for easy field installa-tion of fuses in fixtures (see fuse kit
listings in this catalog section).• For electrical protection, a groundwire is provided on each Mercmasterto bond hood and ballast housing.Standard Materials• Mounting hoods, ballast bodies andguards: Die-cast copper-free alumi-num (Less than 4/10ths of 1%).• Exposed hardware is stainless steel;latch assemblies have stainless steelbolt and captive nut; reflectors andguards attach with stainless steelscrews threading into stainless steelinserts.• Reflectors: fiberglass-reinforcedwhite polyester.• Globes: heat-resistant, prismaticglass.• Refractors: heat-resistant prismaticglass.Standard Finishes• Mounting hoods, ballast bodies, guards: Epoxy powder coat finish, electrostatically applied for complete, uniform surface protection.• Reflectors: white polyester finish.Options• Fuses can be field-installed onMercmaster III fixtures. Kits includefuse block, wire connectors and screwsfor attaching to mounting hood.Fixtures with fuses do not comply withUL595 requirements for marine listing.See page F1-65 for Fuse Kits.• Rapid Smart Starter emergency op-tion, for HPS fixtures only. Restrikes ahot HPS lamp instantly when power isrestored after a momentary powerinterruption. Factory-installed on 35-150W HPS fixture. Add suffix -HRE.• "Smart-Starter" for HPS fixtures only.Incorporates a 1-1/2-minute timer andperforms as a conventional starter tonormally start lamp or to restart lampafter a momentary power interruption.Removes itself from circuit if lampburns out or is removed from socket.Eliminates starter failures caused byprolonged operation with cycling orfailing lamps and simplifies findingtheir location, reducing maintenanceand repair costs.
