Employees who take part in the various activities of an organisation deliver the best results because it not only helps them in their personal growth but also pushes them to emerge out as a team player. It is also evident that recognition of an individual's effort increases their work potential. Here HR plays a very important role in developing new and innovative employment engagement activities. One such measure to recognise and appreciate the employees was carried out in JBMAS. JBMAS, MM Nagar as a part of its employee motivation programme, recently recognised some of its best employees from each department, based on the input of their immediate supervisor. This basically showcases the difference between a better performing employee and the rest, triggering a drive to reach for the best.Often the larger pie does not go to the people who are off the roll, here a point was made that better performers are always recognised JBMAS made sure that each and everyone is brought under this criteria. A total of 15 employees on the roll and 15 off the roll were recognised.To measure the best performer, regular day to day monitoring of each employees performance is required up to the operational level. Employee engagement is a sustained effort and the results can only be seen in the long run.
EMPLOYEE ENGAGEMENT ACTIVITYRECOGNISING THE BEST
The true meaning of vision is to see those things which are not visible through our eyes. Similarly to make the above
statement a reality, it is important that the visions of the
employees are kept in the right condition. JBMAS (BG-6) at MM th stNagar, organised an eye camp on 30 and 31 of May, 2012 with the
support of Dr. Aggarwal Hospital, Chennai.A team of doctors from Dr Aggarwal Hospital headed by Dr
Gopinath conducted eye testing of more than 150 employees
belonging to various age groups. This act was well received by the
employees as they were getting health care support under one
roof. This is one of the employee engagement activity conducted
by Plant's HR department to unleash in time for retaining the best
talents for the organisation.
VISION MATTERSFOR AN ORGANISATION AND ITS EMPLOYEES
HIRCO Palace Garden of the Hiranandani Group, recently organsied HIRCO SYNERGY Version.2 at their palatial town
ship in Chennai's Industrial Hub, close to JBM's ORG plant on June 03, 2012 inviting major corporates across Chennai.
Some of the eminent names in the industry like Hyundai, Hanil Automotive, Amazon, SCG, WIPRO, Toll Global Logistics,
Mahindra Satyam, Nokia, Ajuba solutions also attended this event. JBMAS was also invited to participate in the event
which was attended by more than 40 corporates.
JBM Group represented 2 teams consisting of 10 members, each from all the plants of Chennai.
Many team events like truck pulling, tyre rolling, spider web, puzzle, quiz, paint ball and golf were organised to give
the participants a physical and moral boost while testing their ability to work as a team. Even
the peaking heat was not able to deter the determination of participants of the JBM Group
from giving their best shot and they completed the team physical challenge in just 11m 59s
while the winners of the challenge completed it in 11m 47s.
The participants from JBM Group showcased their 'Can Do Spirit' by reaching top 10 in almost nd th th stall the events, they came 2 best in tyre rolling, 5 in truck pulling, 4 best in spider web, 1 in
ndindividual golf putting and reached 2 stage of the paint ball competition.
Eventually 'Best Spirited Team' award went to JBMAS and the champions trophy went to
Amazon while Hanil Automotive and Timken were runners up.

JBMAS (BG-6) celebrated Kaizen month to give a thrust to continuous improvement process at every activity of the plant in June 2012. The plant head Kalyanaraman inaugurated this event in the presence of customer team AL Nissan and Ashok Leyland also emphasised the importance of Kaizen and directed various ways in which employees can contribute to the same. JBMAS - MM Nagar Plant which is supporting Ford India and Daimler also launched Kaizan month along with BG-6. Plant Head Nandagopal, started the event with a training session on lean manufacturing with a hand tool kit to show how simple it can be to start contributing for the Kaizen.While JBMAS - ORG, Plant Head Gowrishankar launched the event with a difference by presenting a presentation , explaining what is Kaizen, how everyone can participate in it and be part of the organisational growth.

ACHIEVED ANOTHER MILESTONE
May, 2012 saw a new milestone being laid at the JBMAS ORG located at Renault Nissan Supplier Park. This plant, less
than a year old had made this thing possible through its sheer level of hard work and dedication as Nissan had
produced 15,930 vehicles in May, 2012 and were operating with two production lines to achieve this number.
While talking about this achievement, the Plant Head – Gowri Shankar , VP – Operations said “In the last week of the
month, Nissan had started producing at 850 vehicles/day and we also responded to their challenge and delivered to
them with all our workforce and dedication. Except for one part ( 75,174) which was going hand to mouth, we were able

to coordinate well along with the supply chain and maintain one
shift to one day inventory at our FG and customer end . We were
delivering almost one day ahead of their daily schedule. Nissan
is planning to do 19,968 vehicles in the month of June (10,444 of
Micra, 7,882 of Sunny and rest others)”.
This opportunity in May 12, 2012 from the customer's side, made JBMAS surpass all its daily sales and monthly sales
figures. JBMAS created a new sales record by beating its own previous record on this particular day. In addition to that,
customer PPM level of 38 was also achieved. This was possible only through excellent team work and the
understanding between the members of JBMAS. The BG Head, Pramod Manglik has also recommended the team work
and congratulated all for achieving this milestone. The plant head on this achievement expressed his feelings by saying
“Together we all win, and it is true indeed”.
DOING IT ONCE IS ORDINARY, DOING IT AGAIN IS
DIFFERENT. JBMAS has done it again this time with 107
units of blood, to save 107 lives at the least.
The second blood donation camp was organised on June
04, 2012 at MM Nagar Plant with the support of Lions Club
Elite. The response was equally good this time as more and
more enthusiastic participants came forward to be a part of
this noble cause.
The learning centre was converted in to make space for 9
Bed Blood Collection Centre, which was well organised to
ensure smooth conduct of the whole event. All the donors
were gifted a key chain, donor certificate and a plum cake.
Also a small message campaign was organised during this
occassion; one line in Tamil that stood apart from the others
was shared by Ramaswamy of the tubular section.
By organising the campaign again, JBMAS has made it a
point that they are always ready to take initiative towards
social cause.

JBML has always been known for its work excellence and the number of awards it has received for the same till
date.
Recently held Maruti Suzuki Vendors Conference in the month of May 2012, JBML was felicitated with a number
of awards from MSIL which included Spare Delivery Award, Special Support Award and Silver Shield for overall
performance. JBML also received Certificate for recognition of sincere efforts and superior performance in the
field of 'VA-VE' for year the 2011-12 and certificate for recognition of outstanding performance in the field of
'Capacity Enhancement'.

SAP- System Application Product on the data process has become one of the most valued priority of the present
time. SAP might have delayed certain process by few days or weeks due to vendor code registration or vendor code
extension, but as a result of the hard work and relentless efforts of the teammates of the JBMAS Chennai plant,
towards achieving zero tolerance, things started to fall in place.
All the credit goes to the team members of JBMAS, Chennai Plant lead by Muralidharan of Dispatch team and SAP
Team at JBM Corporate.
SAP – ORDER OF THE DAY
Saving energy is the call of hour today. Energy sources, being one of the major aspect of sustaining human life are
getting scarce on our living planet Earth. Maruti Centre for excellence organises an Inter Cluster Energy Saving
Competition every year in order to address this global issue, involving some big corporate houses and automotive
giants in the initiative.
J-2 added yet another milestone in its success stories in the Inter Cluster Energy Saving Competition 2012 by securing stthe I prize among the best 13 teams in the energy saving category. Oyable San (Executive Director- Supply Chain)
and Dr. K.Kumar (Executive Advisor- MACE ) awarded the winners of the competition.

J-2 as an organisation is always committed in creating an environment friendly world. Team oriented problem solving
activities was encouraged in the competition. A presentation for the same was held in MACE on July 12, 2012.

Once upon a time there lived a farmer and his wife. They had a new born son. The farmer's wife wanted to have a pet animal to protect the child which would also be a companion to the child. They debated and decided upon a mongoose. So they brought a mongoose and started rearing it.
A couple of months later, one day the farmer and his wife wanted to go out of the house leaving the child at home. The farmer thought that the mongoose would take care of the child while they were away. So they left the mongoose and the child at home and went out.
The farmer's wife returned earlier and on returning home found that the mouth of the mongoose was stained with blood and she immediately inferred that the mongoose have killed the child. In anger she threw a box on the mongoose and the mongoose was hurt badly. She then rushed inside to see what happened to the child. She was surprised to find a dead snake lying in the room. She could infer that that the mongoose had saved the child's life by killing the snake. Realising the mistake she went out of the room only to find the mongoose dead on the floor. She cried out load at her hasty action.
Moral: Don't act in haste.

JBM TESCO BAG THEIR BIG ORDERJBM Tesco acquired yet another milestone by bagging one of their big order together from Indian Auto Giant , Ashok
Leyland in the domain of styling and modelling for their Commercial Vehicles.
JBM TESCO BAGGED THE PRESTIGIOUS ORDER- MAN TRUCK & BUS AG
JBM Tesco bagged the prestigious order from MAN Truck & Bus AG (MAN is one of the major German vehicle manufacturer) for providing the engineering services and designing of BIW (body in white), chassis parts and assemblies, exterior and interior styling with designing of trim parts and electricals along with final prototyping of the new range of series trucks.
THE ART OF NURTURING RELATIONSHIPSBusiness is about relationships. To be successful in your professional life, nurturing relationships is critical - they promote productivity, improve speed of doing business, create referral networks and are much cheaper than any marketing tool. Honesty and Ethics: If you've promised something, deliver on it and if unable to do so, confess ahead of the deadline. Secondly, always provide factual information regardless of how bleak it appears. While people may get upset, they'll respect your honesty, building lasting trust.
Listen: Lend them your ears and learn about their interests/needs. Listening offers you quick insights into what motivates them and helps you connect better.
Create win-win: Keep communication channels open and clear the air quickly, in case of a conflict. Also, take the initiative to connect with people who have diverse interests and generously link them with others in your network.
Keep in touch: Frequently meet with the important people in your network to show that you value them. Use technology to stay connected, e.g. an occasional email link to an interesting article or a quick phone call to inquire about their well being shows you care. Nurturing relationships is a lot like farming. Like plants, relationships too need investment of time, energy, resources and plenty of care to finally bear fruit.
The Hannover fair represents the most important instrumental platform for all commercial vehicles OEM's, where they showcase their new models to potential customers.
Tesco Go will be participating at the Hannover motorshow at Centro Estero Camere di Commercio Piemontesi, a large platform for all the companies that are operating and offering services in this important industrial sector.
Tesco Go, at present times is considered to be an expert in the field of truck development and this reputation of Tesco Go has matured through important collaboration with the main international manufacturers: Scania, Iveco, Daimler and MAN.
HANNOVER MOTORSHOW 2012
Tesco Go recently participated in a new business mission which was held
in China, organised by Regione Piemonte to present the competence of
piemontese engineering, parts suppliers and facilitating the relationship
with main Chinese OEM's.The mission was focused on Jiangxi, Hubei and Chongqing areas where
plants of important manufactures like Dongfeng Motor Corporation,
Changan Automobile and Bonluk are located.Tesco Go was able to make good contacts during the span of business
mission and hopes to transfer these contacts into a successful
collaboration.

After a successful preview in Geneva Motorshow 2012; Fiat
500 iconic large version was officially presented at Turin in
presence of Sergio Marchionne and all the Fiat board
members .

DRIVE-ORGANISATION TRANSFORMATION PROGRAMME

Life is like a game and an individual has to play with work, family, health, friends and spirit. Work is like a rubber ball.
If dropped it, will bounce back but the other four aspects family, health, friends and spirit are made of glass.
Assuming one of these are dropped they will be irrevocably scuffed, marked, nicked, damaged or even shattered.
They will never be the same. One must understand that and strive for balance in life.
Industries have realised the importance of the above. Organisations are setting up policies for maintaining a work
life balance. They are going in for innovative methods to keep their employees happy and satisfied, as it makes office
a better place to work and also positively impact productivity. The concept of work-life balance (WLB) is not new but
with the changing pace of life and increase in stress levels, negatively affecting the quality of work, has made many
organisations think about the strategies for maintaining a work life balance.
There is a strong link between work life balance policies and reduced absenteeism, increased productivity and job
satisfaction. Other benefits include improved recruitment and retention rates with associated cost savings, a
reduction stress, greater levels of job satisfaction and loyalty and an improved corporate image.
The work life balance strategy offers a variety of ways to reduce stress levels and increase job satisfaction of the
employees. The fundamental principle of designing activities around the topic of work life balance is that work
should be part of life.
Employees tend to feel motivated when they feel that the organisation is putting extra effort in providing a healthy
balance between work and life. Motivated employees not only enhance the productivity but also help creating a
positive work environment at office.
Work life balance is a choice an individual has to make. However, it is the organisation that needs to take an initiative
to help the employees. Today, an employee is not looking at their employer as just a job provider but they want the
company to care for their work life balance and their well being. If a company addresses these needs, in addition to
providing great career opportunities, they can be very successful in providing job satisfaction to the employee.
Companies are adopting new means to ensure that their employees get enough time to enjoy their personal life and
spend time with family.
Firms are going for innovative practices to keep their employees happy. Even a business solution providing
company, promotes ROWE (Results Only Work Environment) culture within the organisation, negating the age old
dogma that equates physical presence with productivity and encouraging people to focus on working smarter rather
than longer. Another attempt by the company to manage work-life balance is to encourage all employees to take a
minimum of seven days annual leave in a year. It is the responsibility of the reporting managers or supervisors to
ensure that the employees reporting to them take this leave.
Some organisations have taken initiatives to provide timely assistance to the employees in a crisis situation rising
out of financial or personal problems. They also evaluate the results of these initiatives to ensure that all these
initiatives have the desired impact.

At present time, the biggest myth that many individuals believe in, is that, medicines and doctors can keep a person

Rule: 1- Keeps your body and environment clean:
Optimum health depends on a healthy body and a clean environment. Bathe regularly, wash your hands properly

5S is the name of a workplace organisation method that uses a list of five Japanese words: seiri, seiton, seiso, seiketsu,
and shitsuke. Transliterated or translated into English, they all start with the letter 'S'. The list describes how to organise
a work space for efficiency and effectiveness by identifying and storing the
items used, maintaining the area and items, and sustaining the new order.
The decision-making process usually comes from a dialogue about
standardisation, which builds understanding among employees of how they
should do the work.
Going along the same line, JBMAS, Chennai Plant; came out with an idea to
synchronise their 4S for improvement, with 5S for quicker adaptation and thhence came the concept of the 5 E, emulating excellence as well as working
on towards achieving excellence in Manufacturing. The concept of 5E is quite
along the same line with 5S. I.e. 4S will make one achieve 5S similarly
achieving 4E will make one achieve 5E. The process of following 5E was
meticulously planned by management, as selling this idea was not easy.
A pledge was made in JBMAS, Chennai plant to be followed in every shift production and other meetings making it a
commitment to be followed.
The explanation of the 5E, the pledge, the design of the badge, the place of the badge in uniform without interfering
with the JBM Group Logo, everything was indigenously planned.

Process automation is one of the most widely used terms in manufacturing industry but as the needs of industry changes processes like CAE/CAD etc are being automated to meet the requirements of present times. One of the most time consuming task in CAE is Finite Element modeling and FE modeling itself which takes 70-80% time of the whole task. But with the help of automate standardising process the total time consumed is estimated to come down by 30%.The process automation or customisations of CAE processes are applicable with lot of assumptions, limitations and standardisation of the work flow. It may not reflect on each and every case. Making a macro and using it, will not only help in the long term but the Process Template/Custom approach can help in completing task. A bunch of macros linked together will minimise the scope of any error as well human intervention.The automated tool is more efficient for less featured and simplified geometries because FE Tools are not very efficient in geometrical editing. The tool is most efficient when the problem is well defined and standardised before applying to Process Automated Tool.For creating the process automation tools, CAE Engineer need to understand the theories, practical's as well as finite element software core language like Hypermesh and Tel TK. 10 WAYS TO COMMUNICATE BETTER AT WORK
1. Listen:
Most of us are terrible listeners. Instead of truly listening to what the
person is saying, we interrupt, prepare our response, or think we already
know what the speaker is going to say next. It's impossible to understand
what someone needs or wants if we don't give them our undivided
attention.
2. Pay attention to body language:
Body language can tell you just as much as what a person says, if not more.
Observe how they act when they talk.
3. Consider communication preference:
Not everyone likes to communicate the same way. Email works for some,
but others would rather pick up the phone and talk, text or even use social
media or instant messaging to relay something. Respect the person you're
trying to contact and use the method he or she seems to prefer.
4. Consider your tone:
The problem with email and social media is that it can be difficult to
determine the tone. You may mean something as a joke, but if it comes off
pushy or angry, you could cause an unintended reaction from the
recipient.
Make sure your language is clear and if you are angry, take a few minutes
to cool down before you type. Better yet, meet in person so nothing is
misconstrued.
5. Don't be too casual:
Getting along with your work colleagues can help you do your job better,
but don't take it too far in your communication on the job. Keep the
cursing for after hours, and make sure your emails, meetings, and phone
calls are professional. Being too casual on the job may make others feel
uncomfortable
6. Check your grammar:
Spell check is your best friend on the job. Always proof read anything you
type--be it an email, Tweet or letter. If you're not great at catching errors,
ask someone else to proof it for you.
7. Keep criticism constructive:
If you manage others, you want them to do their best. Work to ensure your
comments aren't emotionally charged, and that the person you're
speaking with grasps what you're trying to say when giving feedback.
Provide positive reinforcement when a job is well-done and find ways to
add in tips for improvement without being that boss.
8. Restate what you hear:
Rephrasing what your co-worker or boss says to you by repeating the
important points shows you are understanding what is being told to you.
It gives both parties a chance to clarify if there is any confusion and by
repeating it, you'll remember.
9. Get a little personal:
People let their guards down when you talk about their lives outside of
work. Ask about a co-worker's kid's soccer tournament. Find ways to
interact on a personal level without going too far. You'll go a long way
toward building trust.
10. Never stop improving:
Effective communication is a skill you must practice. Observe how others
respond to your communication to clue you in on areas for improvement.

ANGER - “THE HUMAN SUICIDE BOMB!”
JBMAS has completed a Blanking Line after the one in Gurgaon, which supports the Group companies in the northern
belt. New line at JBMAS-ORG, Chennai will start its operations in October / November, 2013 catering the requirements
of South.
This fully automated blanking line is a state of the art technology, imported from South Korea with integration of ISGEC
Pressing Machine which will support all the southern plants with cut to length blanks.
A Pooja was organised on the inauguration ceremony of the blanking line at the JBMAS-ORG Facility on 31st August,
2012 in the presence of BG 6 Head, Pramod Manglik, ORG Head - CG Gowri Shankar, Plant Head MM Nagar - M
Nandagopal along with others.
By addition of this blanking line, it is expected that the turnover will improve pertaining to Nissan operations moving
in to the third year in 2012 - 13. This is an indication of well poised growth and efficacy.
This overall growth of JBMAS ORG has only been possible because of the additional growth opportunities provided by
Nissan.
Do you get angry often in your life that makes you lose focus on what is right and wrong? Is there been a time that you
failed to see reason because you were very angry at something or someone? Do you scream at your spouse / children /
friends / subordinates when you are angry?
Unfortunately this deadly virus in us harm us badly - with stress, high blood pressure, relationship getting spoiled, at
times even getting isolated among friends, colleagues & family. Anger makes us to forget who we are, what we are, to
whom we are talking and why we are talking. Interestingly once we take out our anger by way of screaming at someone,
most of us regret.
"Speaking when angry" is one of the bad habit which holds us back from success says, Marshall Goldsmith in his
bestseller book, " What Got You Here Won't Get You There ". Anger has its value as a management tool. But this
emotional volatility is not the most reliable leadership tool. When we get angry, we are usually out of control. It's hard
to lead people when we have lost control. We may think we have a handle on our temper, that we can use our
spontaneous rages to manipulate and motivate people. But it's very hard to predict how people will react to our anger.
Paul Deeds of Crystal Concepts suggests when the anger runs through our blood streams, try doing the following:
1) Calm Ourselves: Take a deep breath, picture a relaxing scene we like and tell ourselves, relax and take it easy.
2) Think twice before we say anything: When angry, it is easy to start cursing or saying wild things to our target. Pause a
while and think is it worth picking up this fight. Is it better to be silent?
3) Take a small walk: Walking makes our brain to release endorphins which gives a sense of well being and makes us
relax.
4) Work with people who made us angry: Do this when we are calm to make sure that the person or people who have
angered us will also be calm. This way, we will all be able to focus on the problems at hand.
5) Don't hold grudges: Be forgiving to the people who have angered us. This is a great way to show them that we are not
angry anymore. But don't think that the other people will follow our example. It is unrealistic to think that all people
should behave the same way like us.
6) Make an "Anger Log Book": Write down all situations that set us off in an "anger logbook". This keeps track of our
reactions to everyday situations. This is a very useful tool in keeping our anger in check as we can review the situation
and try to solve it on a latter date.
So next time when you start to speak out of anger, better you look in the mirror. In every case you will find that the root
of your rage is not "out there" but "in here". You are no more a human bomb who carries anger- the deadly weapon
which is the biggest obstacle to our personal and professional success.
