This is the third time that we have met, after April 1980 in London and November 1980 in New York.The first two conferences with the valuable contribution of highly qualified experts in the most modern technologies, have given the lead on coal fired propulstion to shipowners and shipbuilders, allowing them the opportunity of debating the numerous problems connected with the use of coal as fuel for ships....Italcantieri are proud of being amongst the first shipyards to have built a coal fired ship of this new generation.It is now up to the shipowner and us to prove the that coal fired propulsion represents an economically viable energy alternative without involving any particular operating problem.
