The David Penney Practice is 20 years old and the firm has served a good number of clients since the very beginning. Today it handles almost £200 million of client assets.
Founding Partner David Penney outlines the firm’s ethos: “Our philosophy has always been to take care and take pride in everything we do. I’ve always seen money as a precious resource that helps make things happen and provides peace of mind. That often means asking, and answering, complex questions at the right time, in the right way. We help clients declutter, decipher and develop their investments.”
Managing Director Will Harrison has 17 years’ experience in the profession. “I spent eight years as an independent financial adviser and joined St. James’s Place in 2012. David and I began working together in 2015, then officially joined forces in 2016,” he says. “My approach is to start with a picture – what does a good life look like to you? Money enables, so our role is to help build funds by putting them in the right place, helping clients invest tax efficiently and navigate an ever changing financial
world.” Together, David and Will are transforming Penney Financial Partners to be alert and agile, to respond to changing individual needs within a rapidly changing economic landscape. David concludes: “We can help clients create a financial ‘heirloom’ they can pass down the generations.”

Penney Financial Partners has been awarded Chartered Financial Planners status by The Chartered Insurance Institute (CII), recognising the highest standards of technical, professional and up-to-date knowledge and practice, as well as commitment to the CII’s Code of Ethics. Only around 700 firms in the financial advice market have achieved this prestigious award.

Over 20 years St. James’s Place has also evolved – funds managed have risen from £3 billion to excess of £89bn. Part of the elite FTSE100 Index, it remains loyal to its original commitment to face to face advice and technology to help facilitate what we do.

For example, deal with more complex matters and visiting clients at home as required, covering a wider geographical area as more and more clients and their families live in different parts of the UK.
