What is Eyes?

A music and culture magazine thatstrives on content that is free of thelimitations corporate magazines have.Too often are musicians and artistsasked questions that center aroundsuperficial concepts and ideas

Eyes will be a platform for writers, artists,musicians and all creatives to discuss theworld and art in a way that has neverbeen done before at a place whereremoving walls and distractions isnecessary. Our goal is to be organic andraw. The creative world has taken a turnwhere we are all so obsessed withattaching a name to every uniqueidea/thought/accomplishment/creation we’ve ever had thereforeputting stress and pressure thatdisrupts the creative process. Eyes willbe a place for artists to eliminate thosepressures and express themselves in acompletely free and organic way.

Youtube will be important for the video trailer weplan to create for each issue of the magazine. Wealso want to post interviews, live sessions of artistsin our RealEYES studio and staff vlogs. The 2billion active YouTube users are mainly 18-25 (81%)and 73% of US adults use the platform with thefastest-growing demographic being 35-55-year-oldswhich can help us reach the second half of ourdemographic. Facebook will help reach theolder demographic and the layoutof Facebook pages are great todisplay content because you canhave such a variety available onthe page from videos to photos tolinks to articles, etc. “62% of onlineSeniors aged 65+ are on Facebookand 72% are between age 50-64,88% of online users of age 18-29are on Facebook, 84% of those 30-49.” (Omnicore)

a. While there are not too manystatistics on demographics onSpotify, Spotify has 248 millionactive users. With 30% beingmillienials. Being that themagazine will deeply featuremusic, I think attaching a Spotifyaccount with playlists that areattached to artists within the issuecan help spread the word aboutthe magazine, especially whenfollowers share the playlists ontheir other platforms.

a. Twitter will be useful to reach the target audience. We willuse Twitter in an organic way to interact with followers andretweet and share our content. Twitter helps curate a two-way conversation that can aid in engagement across allplatforms as well as subscriptions.

Target Audience. Women and men in the UnitedStates ages 18-45 . Based on other arts and culture-independentmagazines and online publications such asWonderland (women 25-35), Consequence ofSound(18-35, US, English, 70% male), Clash, Equate,Dazed, Another Man, and NR Magazine who allutilize modern trends mixed with organiccontent and design and attract and audience ofindividuals who are familiar and interested inculture.

Creative Strategy .The best way to get the word out organically about our magazine and itssocial media is through artists sharing their involvement with the issue

to their followers. Then fans sharing the magazine themselves and so on.

Objective #1: Increase subscriptions to magazine online by 1000 in 3 months Strategy: Have featured artists with larger followings (but also the oneswith smaller followings) to share the magazine on their social media sitesand tell followers to go online and subscribe at www.openyoureyes.com. Tactics: Have artists post telling followers to subscribe to read the firstissue, which means they must subscribe to do so, this word of mouthtactic will attract a lot of fans in time. Instagram will play a large roll inthis.     Objective #2: Increase Instagram followers by 1000 in one month Strategy: Create a cover art contest on Instagram that promotes artists tocreate art and submit by posting their artwork to their followers.  Tactics: have artists post their submissions on social media and tag@openyoureyesmagazine as well as using a hashtag #OYEMCoverArt. Objective #3: Increase Youtube subscribers by 300 in 3 months Strategy: Create a promotional video for our YouTube channel thatpreviews what the channel will be about featuring Eyes message. Tactics: Cross promote the YouTube channel by posting the promo videoon Insta and snippets of any future YouTube video’s on IGTV andTwitter Objective #4: Increase Spotify followers by 500 in 3 months Strategy: Create monthly Spotify playlists that feature artists included inthat months issue. Tactics: Post the playlist across Instagram and Twitter and tag artistsfeatured to get the playlists circulating online. Adverts/promos: Tell followers to follow us on Spotify and like ourplaylists. This will allow for artists to benefit from people able to havedirect access to their music as well. Before each playlist will be anintroduction audio snippet that will introduce the purpose of Eyes.

Since all objectives utilize numerical goals as well as time frames, we willutilize the analytics offered by each social media site to track how our crosspromotion and social media efforts are doing. The analytics on each canalso provide us with alternative data to see which posts are successful.

We will track subscriptions once we begin the social media plan for onemonth. 1,000 may seem like a lot but for it being the first month of anissue it is possible.

    Normally I would not strive to increase followers but rather engagement,but being that this media is new, follower amount does help confirm“respect” or credibility when other users look to follow. We will track thisusing Instagram analytics.
