Choosing a Lens Color

• Clear Lens – Use indoors or outdoors in below normallight conditions

• Grey/Brown Lens – Use outdoors or where there is aboveaverage available light

• Amber Lens – Use in below normal light conditions orwhere enhanced contrast is desirable

• Indoor/Outdoor Lens – Use when working both indoorsand outdoors throughout the day

• Mirrored Lens – Use outdoors or where there is aboveaverage available light

• Light Blue Lens – Use during work applications with highlevels of sodium vapor lighting and glare

• Vermillion Lens – Use to reduce glare, enhance contrast and provide true color perception during indoor applications

• Welding Lenses – Shade 2.0 lens is used for welding-related operations such as torch soldering. Shade 3.0 canbe used for certain brazing or cutting applications. Shade5.0 is used in certain torch soldering, torch brazing or cutting applications.

Goggles

Goggles are designed to protect youreyes from environments where fumes, liquids, dust and potential impacts

are present.

• Indirect Vent goggles protect againstchemical liquids and dusts. These are the only

goggles that can be used forprotection from chemical splashes.

• Direct Vent goggles offer maximum airflow, butare only approved for particulate protectionduring jobs such as grinding, cutting, dustyapplications, etc.

Faceshields

Faceshields are designed primarily forsplash and arc protection. Faceshieldsmust always be used in conjunction withsafety glasses or goggles to protectagainst secondary hazards.

The New ANSI/ISEA Z87.1-2010 Standard

ANSI Z87.1-2010 represents a change in the way thestandard is organized and how users of eye and face protectors will utilize the standard to select products forspecific hazards. The previous standards were organizedby the type of protector. ANSI Z87.1-2010 is organized bythe nature of the hazard such as droplet and splash,impact, optical radiation, dust, fine dust and mist.

The hazard approach in the standard will encourage usersand employers to evaluate the specific hazards that theyare exposed to in their environment and to select appropriate eye and face protection based on their hazard evaluation.

Because the standard is radically different, the productmarkings have changed. Users will need to be educatedon matching the hazard from which they need protectionwith the marking on the product.

The New ANSI/ISEA Z87.1-2010 Standard

ANSI Z87.1-2010 represents a change in the way thestandard is organized and how users of eye and face protectors will utilize the standard to select products forspecific hazards. The previous standards were organizedby the type of protector. ANSI Z87.1-2010 is organized bythe nature of the hazard such as droplet and splash,impact, optical radiation, dust, fine dust and mist.

The hazard approach in the standard will encourage usersand employers to evaluate the specific hazards that theyare exposed to in their environment and to select appropriate eye and face protection based on their hazard evaluation.

Because the standard is radically different, the productmarkings have changed. Users will need to be educatedon matching the hazard from which they need protectionwith the marking on the product.

• Direct Safety K-10 Goggles provide economical protection fromlarger particles. Fits over most prescription glasses.

• Uvex Flex Seal Goggles are the first on the market to feature asilicone frame, so they stay soft and supple in both hot and coldtemperatures. Silicone frame also conforms to any facial profileand provides an exceptionally tight seal to assure the highestlevel of eye protection. Goggles feature a neoprene band (except59269) and fit over virtually all prescription eyewear. Replacementlenses are available.

• Uvex Stealth Goggles feature a soft, flexible elastomer that sealscomfortably and conforms gently to most facial contours. Curvedlens gives better peripheral vision than ordinary goggles. Snap-inreplacement lens system allows polycarbonate lenses (sold separately) to be easily replaced and exchanged.

• 3M Splash GoggleGear is lightweight (only 1.8 ounces) anddesigned with an ellipsoidal Lexa lens to extend peripheral vision.

• MCR Safety PGX1Goggles offer an external liquid and chemicaldiversion channel and an internal perspiration channel. Body andlens are polycarbonate, while the face seal and adjustable strapare made of thermoplastic rubber. Includes a cleaning bag.

• US Safety Legend XT Goggles offer a slim, low-profile designthat makes them compatible with a variety of respirators, hardhats and faceshields. Unique forward vents system producesmaximum air flow. Facial seal is made of hypoallergenic foam.

• Direct Safety K-20 Goggles are the most economical way toprotect your eyes from chemical splashes. Eyewear is not coatedfor scratch resistance. Non-Vent style is available.

GogglesDirect-Vent Goggles provide maximum air flow and are ideal protection from larger particles whenchipping, cutting or grinding. These goggles are not for use around chemical splashes. IndirectVent Goggles protect against liquids and dust, while permitting ventilation. Use these goggles forchemical splash protection. Both styles offer vent channels to minimize fogging and keep the lensescool. Non-Vent Goggles have no venting of any kind and will offer protection against the passage ofdust, mist, liquid and vapors. Meets ANSI Z87.1-2003 high-impact standard.

Faceshield FramesIf you require face protection, but do not wear a hard hat, an MSADefender Plus Faceshield Assembly is just what you need. Choose Hard Hat Faceshield Frames if you need to wear a Hard Hat orCap, yet also require face protection. Faceshield Frame with LockdownDevice secures the frame to the brim of the cap. Element Welding HelmetThis solar-powered unit is ideal for MIG, TIG and stick welding. The shell weighs only 6ounces and is designed to eliminate hot embers from sitting on it. The auto-darkening filter offers variable shades from 9 – 13 and remains at shade 4 in normal light. Delay adjustment controls the amount of time that the lens will stay dark after you havestopped the arc. This is beneficial when making several consecutive welds in the samearea.
