The Eye of the Storm The eye of the storm; it's that perfect spot in the center of a natural disaster where everything is calm and peaceful. All of the destruction circles around it but never gets into to the eye of the storm. It's bright, quiet, smooth, warm and comforting. There are no worries in the eye of the storm. There are no fears. But the thing about the eye of the storm is that a storm moves, and you cannot move faster than the raging storm. Therefore, it's impossible to stay in the eye of the storm for very long. What comes when the storm moves over you? Disaster. Anorexia is the eye of the storm. It's so gentle and comforting, or so it seems. You get tunnel vision, anorexia is all that matters. Despite all of the pain you're putting yourself through; starvation, heart problems, kidney problems, feeling dizzy, dry skin, dehydration, hair loss, depression, weakness... it's all better than the storm. But one day it'll hit you, the eye of the storm will pass and you'll realize that you've been in the storm all along. You no longer have that comfort of anorexia, but anorexia still has you. Once anorexia has hold of you, all “positive” feelings will glide away, leaving you already brain washed by the eating disorder, and stuck, starving, hopless.

DESCRIPTION

A comparison of Anorexia Nervosa to a storm. I've struggled with Anorexia for 7 years and have written many pieces of literature on it. I must say this isn't one of my best by any stretch, but I decided to post it as a warning to those not yet in the grips of an ED. Hopefully you realize that that little "voice" that's promising you perfection is lying. It will leave you broken. Hope you enjoy!

The Eye of the Storm

The eye of the storm; it's that perfect spot in the center of a natural disaster where everything is calm

and peaceful. All of the destruction circles around it but never gets into to the eye of the storm. It's

bright, quiet, smooth, warm and comforting. There are no worries in the eye of the storm. There are no

fears.

But the thing about the eye of the storm is that a storm moves, and you cannot move faster than the

raging storm. Therefore, it's impossible to stay in the eye of the storm for very long. What comes when

the storm moves over you? Disaster.

Anorexia is the eye of the storm. It's so gentle and comforting, or so it seems. You get tunnel vision,

anorexia is all that matters. Despite all of the pain you're putting yourself through; starvation, heart

problems, kidney problems, feeling dizzy, dry skin, dehydration, hair loss, depression, weakness... it's

all better than the storm.

But one day it'll hit you, the eye of the storm will pass and you'll realize that you've been in the storm

all along. You no longer have that comfort of anorexia, but anorexia still has you. Once anorexia has

hold of you, all “positive” feelings will glide away, leaving you already brain washed by the eating

disorder, and stuck, starving, hopless.
