Gujarat - An introduction

PCPIR

►Gujarat, with 42.6 % of its population residing in the urban areas, is among the top three urbanized

states in the country

►Flourishing Economy: State contributes 7.2% of the Nation GDP and shows leadership in many areas

of manufacturing and infrastructure sectors. Gujarat’s SDP (State Domestic Product) at current price

registered a growth of 11% during the year 2014-15.

►Gujarat is one of the leading Industrialized States in India and the State has attracted cumulative FDI

worth US$ 12 billion from April 2000 to March 2015

►Gujarat contributes around 17.2 % to the country’s industrial output whereas the value of output

registered is about 18.5%.

►38% (564 km) of the 1500 km length of DFC will pass through Gujarat which includes 62% of total area

of Gujarat (18 out of 33 districts within the influence area)

►Ease of Doing Business: Only state which comply 100% with Environmental procedures. Gujarat fares

highly when it comes to setting up a business, allotment of land and obtaining a construction permit

►Presence of over 1100 manufacturing unit comprising of small and large industries in PCPIR including

chemical, petrochemical, engineering, plastic, dyes & pigments, textile etc.

►The State has received acknowledgments of 2,466 Industrial Entrepreneurs Memorandum (IEM) filed

by entrepreneurs between 2010 and October 2015 with an estimated investment of Rs. 6,01,766 Crores

►Gujarat is the one of the power surplus states in the country as a result it helping in bringing huge

amount of investment from the industries and tagged as preferred investment destination in the country

► The galleries created must be a national level attraction and first of its kind in India

► People from different parts of the country should intend to visit Ahmedabad solely

for the Science City

► Two galleries are to be developed as a part of Phase II

► Aquatics Gallery

► Robotics Gallery

► The galleries must be of a scale comparable to the leading global facilities

► It should kindle enthusiasm in Science among public and be of educational value

► Involve augmented reality and Internet of Things


Science City Phase II – Aquatics Gallery

► Estimated cost – INR 200 Crores (USD 29.8 million)

► A 5th Generation public aquarium is planned to be developed

► The aquarium must have the following features

► Underwater viewing walkway

► Multi-level viewing gallery

► Interpretation Centre

► Advanced life support systems

► Focus on showcasing a higher percentage of indigenous and freshwater

species

► The visitors must learn about the underwater world and get entertained


Science City Phase II – Robotics Gallery


► Estimated cost – INR 120 Crores (USD 17.9 million)

► The robotics gallery must showcase the frontiers in robotic technology and

must be interactive

► The following sub-galleries are indicatively expected

► Galleries focused on precision, miniature, bio- mimicking robots

► Arena for Robotics competitions

► Hands on robotics gallery – Robotics Games Gallery, Programmable Games Gallery

► Gallery of Robotics in difficult terrain (Space, Nuclear plant, Battlefield)
