Extraordinary Jubilee of Mercy December 8, 2015 – November 20, 2016.
“The time has come for the Church to take up the
joyful call to mercy once more. It is time to return to
the basics and to bear the weaknesses and struggles
of our brothers and sisters. Mercy is the force that
reawakens us to new life and instils in us the courage
to look to the future with hope.” Pope Francis

Loud Fence Campaign
Recently the Armidale Dumaresq Council designated a fence at the Armidale Folk Museum for the tying of ribbons as part of the Loud Fence campaign. This campaign
expresses the community’s support for survivors of child abuse and deceased victims of child abuse. Some members of the public have also tied ribbons to the front gates of the Cathedral. Bishop Kennedy and the Catholic Diocese of Armidale share with the Loud Fence movement their care and concern for victims and their desire to express solidarity with them. These ribbons remain as an expression of this concern.

THE MONTH OF MAY. Within the
cycle of a year, the Church unfolds the
whole of the mystery of Christ, from his
incarnation and birth until his ascension, the
day of Pentecost, and the expectation of
blessed hope and the Lord’s return…
In celebrating this annual cycle of Christ’s
mysteries, the Church honours with special love Mary,
the Mother of God, who is joined by an inseparable bond
to the saving work of her Son. In her the Church holds up
and admires the most excellent effect of the redemption
and joyfully contemplates, as in a flawless image, that
which the Church itself desires and hopes wholly to be.
