IN THE CITY OF LOS ANGELES, ON GLENDLAE BLVD NEAR THE SR-2 SOUTHERN TERMINUS• Background:

The Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority (LAMTA) initiated a study in cooperation with Caltrans and the City of Los AngelesDepartment of Transportation (LADOT) for the southern terminus of the Glendale Freeway, also known as State Route 2 (SR2), in the City and County ofLos Angeles. SR2 transitions from a freeway facility to a conventional highway (major arterial) at the terminus. Traffic flow at the existing terminus isinefficient and unbalanced with highly congested conditions and extensive delays during peak periods and excessive speeds during off-peak periods. Aproject change request (PCR) was done in June of 2014 to split the project into two projects: EA 07-2055A and 07-2055C. The reason for the split wasfor freeway planting, which was deleted during the drought period, and transportation enhancement including an Electronic Message Sign (EMS) to slow traffic at the freeway terminus. ***The project is currently in PS&E phase.***
