POSITION OVERVIEW The Extension Information Technology Analyst serves as a regular, full time, 12 month academic professional with primary responsibility for providing support as part of a team for University of Illinois Extension information technology services as it relates to help desk, network administration, server management, electronic communications, and hardware/software support for more than 700 clients. This position will also support the educational outreach mission of University of Illinois Extension through instructional/educational delivery systems. One full time position is available Location: Chicago, IL (Position will be housed in Naperville, IL) Additional positions may become available in other locations This is a security-sensitive position. Comprehensive background checks, including but not limited to a criminal conviction information check, a CANTS check, and a review of the Registered Sex Offender list, will be conducted. RESPONSIBILITIES Provide front-line team support for the Extension field staff for desktop and mobile computing, network storage and security, productivity software, and internet connectivity across 110 locations. Collaborate with other IT team members and College IT staff to provide support and assistance to IT end-users over a wide geographic area, including the Urbana campus. Work within a ticketing system for issue tracking and technical knowledgebase, documenting progress and solutions to open issues. Hardware and software support for Windows desktops and laptops, including purchasing, installation, upgrades, migrations, troubleshooting and documentation. Systems administration or backup for assigned servers or virtual machines and services. Assist in training efforts, network security, and computing best practices for Extension staff. Provide analysis and feedback to Extension IT staff regarding suggestions for improvement/enhancement of help desk, training, hardware, software, network and computing infrastructure and processes. Develop a professional development plan to regularly improve technical competencies. Administrative Relationship: The Extension Technology Analyst is administratively responsible to the Extension Technology Services Manager

QUALIFICATIONS:Required: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution of higher education. Candidates with a Bachelor’s degree in progress may be considered for interviews, but degree must be completed by hire date. Three years of experience in desktop support and systems and/or network administration in a Windows environment. Experience with desktop applications, including Microsoft Office 2016, Adobe Acrobat, and internet browsers such as Internet Explorer, Chrome, and Firefox. Experience in software and hardware installation and troubleshooting. Proven ability to work independently in remote locations and as part of a collaborative team. Proven ability to learn new technologies and methods and adapt to a shifting environment. Knowledge of various internet connectivity technologies used by private ISPs, including DSL and cable modems. Must have good customer service skills and problem solving mindset. Must have good communication skills (oral and written).

Preferred: Experience working with remote assistance and remote administration. Familiarity with help desk/support request tracking systems. Proven ability to communicate technical material to both technical and non-technical users. Direct and practical experience supporting Windows 10, Windows 7, Windows Server 2012 and/or Windows Server 2016. Experience with Windows Active Directory. Experience with networking fundamentals, including DNS, DHCP, VPN, switches, and firewalls. Knowledge of mobile technologies, including tablet computers and iOS devices. Knowledge of wireless and VoIP technologies. Knowledge of purpose and mission of the College of ACES and University of Illinois Extension.

Extension Information Technology Analyst

• Work will involve flexible hours.• Assume additional related responsibilities to enhance the mission of Extension.• To perform the functions of this position, the employee will be required to performwork both within an office and outside in the communities that are served, and musthave the capability to travel from one location to the other in a timely fashion. Employeeis responsible for securing personal transportation. A valid driver’s license is preferred.Some work will be required during evenings and/or weekends. When working, theemployee may be exposed to a variety of environmental factors to include, but notlimited to, hot or cold weather, exposure to noise and allergens, and uneven ground. Inperforming the functions of this position, the employee may be subjected to variousmental and physical demands as well to include, but not limited to, independentlytraveling to and performing work at different locations, lifting and moving items that mayoccasionally weigh up to forty (40) pounds and frequently weigh up to twenty (20)pounds, and twisting, pushing and pulling movements.
