Study of different systems will consist of the following. Very brief description with neat sketches ( cutting and pasting is allowed) is expected.

Cycle-1

1. Engine - system and its components: transmission, electrical, lubricating and cooling system. 4stroke and 2stroke engine, schematic (S.I / C.I), T-D diagrams, valve timing, cam operation, cylinder configurations, piston/cylinder, crankshaft, camshaft, gear mechanism, clutch unit, propeller shaft, universal joint, differential etcBattery & circuit, starter motor and battery charging motor/dynamo.Fuel & Ignition system: carburetor, spark plug, ignition coil and ignition circuit, distributerFuel pump, fuel injector, recent developments - MPFI and CRDI systemsLubricating system and Cooling system

2. Different types of loading –Dynamometers : Hydraulic, eddy current, DC/AC generator, brake drum etc

Cycle-2

3. Turbines ( Pelton, Kaplan and Francis) system and its components: Jet, Casing, Impeller, Vanes, Draft Tube etc.

4. Pumps (centrifugal and reciprocating min.) system and its components: Casing, Impeller, Diffuser etc.
