Exporting Software Component Archives Use

You can use the Export SCA function to export the current state of one or more software components from a

selected system. This export then exists as a software component archive (SCA) in the file system. You can thendeploy these SCAs on a Web AS Java of your choice for test purposes, regardless of the track configuration.

Export SCA is available on all Transport Studio tab pages except the System State tab page and

the import queue histories.

Prerequisites You have imported at least one software component into the system from which you want to export the SC.

Procedure

To export SCAs, proceed as follows:

1. Choose the system or transport step from which you want to export the software component.

2. Choose Export SCA. The Export Software Components from CMS dialog box appears. This dialog box shows

you a list of all SCs that are available for export. The list contains the following information:

Package Type: Specifies the package type used to create the SCA. You have the following options:

○  As Archive: The export creates an archive file without source code parts.

○  As Checked In: This package type is valid for required SCs. CMS exports these SCAs with the content

they had when they were checked in to the track.

○  As Configured: This package type is valid for developed SCs, from the assembly step. CMS takes the

configured package type from the track configuration and uses it to determine the content of the SCA.

Usage: Specifies whether the SC is configured as a developed or required SC in the track.

Export: After you have created the SCA, this column contains the link you use to save it in the file system.

3. Define a directory path relative to the path of your transport directory; CMS then saves the exported SCAs

directly to this directory. If you do not select this checkbox, you must save the SCA explicitly in the file

system.

If you select this checkbox, the button text changes from Create Archive(s) in Create and Export

Archive(s).

4. Select the group of software components that you want to export and choose Create Archive(s) or Create and

Export Archive(s).

5. If you have defined a target directory, the exported SCA is located there. If not, you still have to save the SCA

to a directory of your choice. To do this, choose the link Download .sca.

Result You have exported software component archives from CMS and saved them in the file system as an SCA file.
