Arny Chapter : #7QFR1. A crater is a circular pit formed by the impact of solid bodies, such as asteroids. Some contain maria’s because of solidified lava from earlier periods of lunar volcanism.

5. The structure and composition of the moon is the Mare, Crust, Mantle, and Core. It is different to Earth because the moons core is smaller and contains far less nickel than the Earth.

11. The Moon forms two tidal bulges on the Earth because of the Moon’s gravity pulling the Erath “out from under” the water on the far side.

2. rM/rE=mE/mM

mM*aM=mE*aE

aM/aE=mE/mM

5. The phase period of the moon is different from the sidereal because on earth, we are viewing the moon from a moving platform, during the moon cycle, the earth has moved approximately one month along its year-long orbit around the sun, altering our angle of view with respect to the moon, and thus altering the phase. The earth's orbital direction is such that it lengthens the period for earthbound observers.
