About Newmont Goldcorp

• Newmont Goldcorp is the world’s leading gold company and a producer of copper, silver, zinc and lead.

• The Company’s world-class portfolio of assets, prospects and talent is anchored in favorable mining jurisdictions in North America, South America, Australia and Africa.

• We have approximately 19,000 employees and 18,000 contractors, with the majority working at managed operations in Australia, Canada, Ghana, Peru, Suriname, Mexico, Argentina and the United States.

• Newmont Goldcorp is the only gold producer listed in the S&P 500 Index and is widely recognized for its principled environmental, social and governance practices.

Our Approach to Energy and Climate

The approach:

- Continue to improve efficiencies at our operations to reduce energy use, costs and associated GHG emissions

- Recognize the risk of extreme weather events

The five pillars of the strategy:

- Stable, reliable & cost effective power supply

- Cost efficiency improvements

- Carbon footprint reduction

- Adapt to a changing climate

- Collaboration within the company and within the industry

Energy & Climate Change StrategyGoal: - Sustainable, economic & secure energy supply- Balance energy demands, supply portfolio and carbon footprint- Adapt to changing climate risks

Supply

1. Understand energy risks, infrastructure & markets

2. Energy tracking & systems

3. Supply chain

1. Target setting

2. Achieve energy efficiencies

3. Energy & GHG evaluation of projects

1. Understand climate change impacts at sites

2. Climate risk & adaptation guidelines

1. Target setting2. Evaluate cost

effective options to reduce carbon

3. Explore carbon offsets & evaluate carbon trading

1. Education & awareness

2. Engage with key external stakeholders & regulatory organizations

Supply

A number of utilities already have reliable, clean & cost effective power available:

- Quebec at 0.0013 tCO2e/MWh (2018) at low cost rates

- Ontario at 0.036 tCO2e/MWh (2018), potentially at low cost rates when managing the Industrial Conservation Initiative carefully and with support of rebates

- Driving towards zero emission mines is much more realistic in areas with low emission grids

Introduction of legislation such as the Clean Fuel Standard in Canada will encourage greater use of biodiesel, however challenges remain for the industry:

- Higher blend biodiesels gel at low temperatures

- Questions remain around toxicity of biodiesel engine emissions in underground environments

Mine air heating fuels:

- Supply of Compressed Natural Gas at Borden for mine air heating, replacing propane

- Liquified Natural Gas opportunities evaluated for more remote sites

Reducing carbon from power supply

• Installed a small 120 kW solar plant at Akyem mine in Ghana in 2018• Signed 8 MW power purchase agreement with Volta River Authority to supply

power to Ahafo and Akyem mines in Ghana this year• Evaluating Australian solar opportunities at Tanami and KCGM• Evaluating solar plant at CC&V mine in Colorado, at Peñasquito mine in

Mexico• Shadow price of $50/tCO2e for new projects with a footprint over 25

ktCO2e

Fuel switching

Fuel switching represents a large opportunity for underground mines to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. We currently have electric equipment at Musselwhite, Eleonore and at Borden.

Many additional benefits, including:

- Reduction/elimination of diesel exhaust emissions, improving underground working conditions

- Reduction in operating costs

- Risk reduction of hydrocarbon spills in mine water effluent

However in operating mines it can be complex to derive a business case:

- Sophisticated Ventilation on Demand systems are often a prerequisite to capitalize on ventilation power savings

- Capital savings may not be readily evident when infrastructure is already in place

- Limited (albeit growing) database of production data.

Climate Adaptation• The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) defines climate

adaptation as the process of adjustment to actual or expected climate changes, in order to moderate harm or exploit beneficial opportunities.

• Adaptation to climate change is the fourth pillar of our Global Energy & Climate Strategy, which aims to:o Increase awareness at regions and sites of the range of potential impacts

and opportunities associated with climate change; o Initiate climate change adaptation planning to increase Newmont asset

resilience against severe weather and other climate-related impacts.

• Newmont Goldcorp partnered with the US National Center for Atmospheric Research (NCAR) to run climate prediction models using NCAR’s super computers to develop future climate narratives for each Newmont Goldcorp site.

Collaboration

Newmont Goldcorp collaborates through the following organizations:

- Canada Mining Innovation Council (CMIC)

- International Council on Mining and Metals (ICMM)

- Global Mining Guidelines Group (GMG)

- Industry associations (e.g. MAC, OMA, QMA)

- Local governments and utilities

- Local stakeholders
