Demo Walk-Through

Introduction

Thank you for your interest in the SAP BusinessObjects Explorer® mobile app for iPad.*

Use this demo walkthrough to become more familiar with some of the functionality of the SAP BusinessObjects Explorer mobile app. Learn how you can connect to sample data, explore various data dimensions, change chart types, drill into areas of interest, search, and save your favorite views.

SAP BusinessObjects Explorer is an English only app and the sample data for this walk-through is in English; but, the viewing of non-English data is also supported.

* SAP BusinessObjects Explorer is included with SAP Crystal Server 2011 named user licenses. By using the SAP Crystal Server add-on for mobile solutions license, SAP BusinessObjects Explorer becomes enabled for your iPad.


Once you’ve downloaded SAP BusinessObjects Explorer from our mobile app store, you’ll have a new app named “SBO Explorer” on your iPad.

The app’s home screen shows SAP sample corporate connections and connections to SAP BusinessObjects BI OnDemand.

Let’s start by selecting the “Experience SAP demo” connection.


Let’s select the “Product and Store Performance” data set.


To enhance the viewing experience, let’s rotate the view to see how it fits the form factor of the device.

Rotate your iPad to landscape view.


Now in landscape view, let’s interact with the report. Select the full screen view.


Now switch back and let’s explore the data.


Swipe through to see multiple values.


Interact with charts to display details. To start, select a value. Lets choose “New York City”.


Now add a value as a filter. Let’s add “Quantity Sold”.


Add “Quantity Sold” to the view.


Let’s change the chart type.


Select the dual y axis chart so both measures are easy to view.


Let’s explore 2011. First select the revenue bar and then the quantity sold bar.


Next, drill into 2011 results to view breakdown by quarter.


Change the view from “By Quarter” to “By Week” for a more detailed analysis.


Select “Week.”


Expand the number of weeks to cover the full year, so annual trends and seasonality are more visible.


Select “53” weeks.


Expand the bar chart view to full width.


Activate sort by week


Click sort again to sort in ascending order, by week


Note the trends by week for the New York city location. Add to “Favorites.”


Enter a “Favorites” name.


Select “Home” to return to the main screen.


Select the “Search” icon to search across all information spaces.


Enter a search term. Let’s search for the product “Jeans”.


Select the single match for “Jeans.”


Change the selection to include all 34 clothing categories.


Select “34”.


Expand the chart view to make all categories fully visible.


Select “Jeans.”


Drill into “Jeans.”


Change “By Year” to “By Month” to see how jeans sales vary by month.


Select “Month.”


Activate sort by month.


Click sort again to sort in ascending order, by month


Review jean sales revenue by month, and save as a favorite, if desired.
