Imagery guidelines

For optimum reproduction of photographs/imagery in Australian BirdLife magazine please follow the below guidelines:

• Supply all images at 300dpi resolution at original size.

• If cropping or retouching imagery for submission please supply the original file as well.

• Wherever possible supply camera raw files.

• We acceptable a wide range of image formats and currently use Adobe Creative Cloud.

COVER SHOTSIf your photograph is a potential cover shot please provide the raw files for the best possible print reproduction. Supply any other variations of this file for our design team to replicate your intended end result.

Australian BirdLife is an A4 portrait magazine, photographs need to be supplied at a minimum of 300dpi resolution at 210 x 297mm for portrait and 420 x 297mm for landscape images. Below is an example of a correctly supplied photograph and how it is applied to the cover.

It is best practice to provide photographs not cropped as consideration needs to be made for our masthead, logo and pre-press requirements as seen in the above example.

When photographs are supplied too small they need to be enlarged to fit the cover size. This causes the photo to lose detail and become pixelated. Below is an example of a incorrectly supplied photograph and how it would look if applied to the cover.

Please note: Images that don’t meet the imagery guidelines will not be considered for the cover.

BOOKINGYour ad booking is confirmed once the signed quote is returned to BirdLife Australia. The publisher reserves the right to cancel booked advertising at its discretion or to decline to print material that does not meet the editorial and publisher standards.

If advertising material is not received by the material deadline, or if changes are made to the copy after the deadline, the publisher reserves the right to insert copy previously used.

No cancellations or space changes can be accepted after the booking deadline as specified on the signed quote. Any ad booked will be charged at the full rate.

All booking rates are in Australian dollars (AUD) and do not include goods and services tax (GST). GST of 10% will be added to above rates when invoicing.

PAYMENTPayment is due in full on receipt of invoice, which is sent at the material submission deadline.
