The New York Times named Squamish

as one of the top “52 Places to Go in

2015”.

Visitors to Squamish are “drawn by an

unusual combination of West Coast

wilderness and accessibility. Hundreds

of trails weave through Pacific rain

forest to glacial lakes, waterfalls and

peaks. Kiteboarders ply a 26-mile fjord,

adventurers climb 2,300-foot Stawamus

Chief, and birders gather for the annual

return of thousands of bald eagles.”

Squamish made another list this year,

the International Traveller’s ‘100 Things

to do in Canada Before You Die’. The

article notes that “the Sea to Sky

Gondola is perhaps the easiest and

most pleasant way to reach the summit

of one of Canada’s prettiest mountains”.

Vacay.ca published its list ’20 Best

Places to Visit in Canada for 2016’ and

Sea to Sky Country took the #1 spot!

Vacay.ca states that “Squamish has risen

to prominence as a destination because

of its array of outdoor activities”.

32 OFFICIAL SQUAMISH ADVENTURE GUIDE

Squamish days The Squamish Days Festival is

back for the 59th year. Squamish

Days is a fun, affordable and

family-friendly way to spend the

BC Day Long Weekend. Many of

the events are free to attend but

full of energy and excitement.

How has this festival stayed popular

for 59 years? People truly enjoy

the spectacle of the world-class

loggers sports competitions. It’s

a diff erent type of sporting event

than you typically see, as this sport

has evolved from an occupation.

The skills used now in competition

are skills vital to a logger’s success

in the woods. This event gives

spectators a glimpse into the life

of a BC logger throughout history.

There is a lot more to Squamish

Days than just the loggers sports

events. There is so much going on

during the festival, including the

fan favourites: Bed Races, Parade

and Pancake Breakfast.

See you at the Squamish Days

Loggers Sports Festival Thursday,

July 28th – Monday, August 1st,

2016!

Celebrates 59 years of family fun!

them leap into the air and

carving across Howe Sound.

Hang out on the beach and

enjoy the view while taking

in the action. At the end of

Cleveland Ave., turn left on

Vancouver St., then right on

Galbraith and follow the road

until it ends at the Squamish

Oceanfront.
