from 1980-1988 and on the Town of Snowmass Village Council from 1990-1994. His dedication to the community he loved will be remembered in this public art sculpture. Funding for the Blake Memorial came from donations in Tom’s memory. The selection of the artist was managed by SAAB.

TITLE: Our Refuge, Our PlaceMEDIUM: Sandblasted Colorado Sandstone and AerblockYEAR: 1997 & 2007This installation reflects the feeling of the mountains, shapes of mining shafts and the interconnectedness of community members. The values of the community were discussed at a town meeting from which 11 words were gathered and sandblasted onto the sculpture. These words are intended to add a center point for these community aspirations “etched in stone” and renewed with each visit to the sculpture.
