FIRST LEGO League is an organization that encourages youth to practice imaginative thinking and teamwork. Teams are guided by adult coaches to research a real-world problem such as food safety, recycling, and energy. They are challenged to develop a solution. They also must design, build, and program a robot using LEGO MINDSTORMS® technology, then compete on a table-top playing field.
Our FIRST LEGO League team was for kids in upper elementary school born between 2005-2007. The students placed 12th out of 36 teams at their first competition and did very well in all of their judging. Thank you to our Team Coach, Jessie Stevens and Assistant Coach, Ashlie Hinkle.
LED LIGHT PROJECT
Thanks to the generosity of the Saginaw Bay Watershed Initiative
Network and the Dow Corning Foundation, the Mt. Pleasant
Discovery Museum was able to replace and retrofit the museum
lights. The installation of LED lights took place in December helping us to save funding on
electricity and repairs.

BOWTIES & BOURBON
The Mt. Pleasant Discovery Museum hosted our first annual
Bowties and Bourbon gala. This bourbon infused culinary
competition raised over $40,000 for the museum. The winning
restaurant was Antlers Fireside Grill represented by Dr. Keating
and Dr. Moutsatson.

The Mt. Pleasant Discovery Museum is a vital part of my family’s life. Since its initial construction when we wondered what was this building with a silo was going to be, to now being a part of my family’s routine, we have come to depend upon the Museum to help our grandchildren grow into boys and girls that love to learn and explore new things.
Sincerely, John DenHeeten
