CVC manages several thousand acres of land. Each conservation area offers different opportunities to explore and be inspired by nature. Park rules help protect the land we love and the visitors we love to welcome.

√ Bring your pets, and keep them on a six-foot leash or less at all times. Please pick up after your pet.

√ Fishing? If you’re between the ages of 18 and 64 you’re required by law to have a valid Ontario fishing licence. Exceptions apply.

√ Barbecues are welcome (Belfountain CA and Badlands excluded), but open fires are not.

√ Alcoholic beverages and drugs, including cannabis, are not allowed within CVC conservation areas.

√ Smoking and vaping are not allowed within 9m of buildings. We strongly encourage not smoking in our parks to limit the chances of fire.

√ Garbage and recycling stations are located throughout each conservation area. Please don’t litter.

√ ATVs, snowmobiles, gas powered motorboats or other motorized all-terrain vehicles are strictly prohibited. Nature doesn’t respond well to motors.

√ Please stay on designated trails. Don’t go off trails. All trails on CVC properties are recreational trails.

√ Don’t block trails. Please stay within your own half-width of a trail.

√ It’s illegal to remove, destroy and/ or damage any plant (alive or dead), animal, property or structure.

√ All boardwalks are slippery when wet.

√ It’s illegal to possess or discharge firearms or fireworks in conservation areas.

√ Commercial photography and filming requires a CVC permit. Contact us at 1-800-367-0890 for information.

√ Please present a valid admission receipt or membership card when requested. Enter at designated entry points only.

√ Travel to and enter a park using active transportation (walking, jogging, running, cycling, in-line skating, skateboarding, non-mechanized wheelchairing, skiing or snowshoeing) to enjoy free admission.

√ Cyclists must yield to pedestrians. If a pathway is busy with pedestrians, consider walking instead of cycling. Dismount when meeting pedestrians on narrow bridges at Island Lake CA.

√ Be predictable and travel consistently so other trail users know what to expect. Always look behind before changing positions on a trail.

√ It’s illegal to enter or remain in a conservation area outside posted hours of operation.

√ Observe and respect all posted closure notices. Posted signs ensure your safety.

Parks User Guide

Use of any personal information collected through video surveillance is protected and restricted through the Municipal Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act, R.S.O. 1990, c.M.56, as amended. If you have any questions, please contact us at 1-800-367-0890 or by email at [email protected].

User Liability WaiverAs a condition of your use of the facilities, properties or bodies of water, you assume all risk of personal injury, death, or property loss resulting from any cause whatsoever including but not limited to cycling, hiking, swimming, all other permitted activities, travel within or beyond the park boundaries, or negligence, breach of contract, or breach of statutory duty of care or breach of the Occupier’s Liability Act on the part of the Credit Valley Conservation Authority, its employees, agents, volunteers, independent contractors, representatives, sponsors, officers, Board of Directors, successors and assigns (collectively referred to as the Credit Valley Conservation Authority). You agree that the Credit Valley Conservation Authority shall not be liable for any personal injury or death or property loss and you release the Credit Valley Conservation Authority and waive all claims with respect hereto. You agree that any litigation involving the Credit Valley Conservation Authority shall be brought solely within the Province of Ontario and shall be within the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of the Province of Ontario. You further agree that these conditions and any rights, duties, and obligations or litigations as between the Credit Valley Conservation Authority and you shall be governed by and interpreted solely in accordance with the laws of the Province of Ontario and no other jurisdiction.

What are they?Invasive species are plants or animals not native to an area. They’re introduced by human activities and harm the environment, economy and society.

How are they dangerous?Invasive species may feed on native species or compete for food. They introduce new parasites to native species and can cause other species to become threatened or endangered.

They’re spread by hitching a ride on a boat, trailer, fishing gear or equipment, including bait buckets.

Learn more: cvc.ca/invasives

Do your part• Don’t release live bait. Empty your

• Remove all plants and organisms from your boat and gear. Put them in a garbage bin.

• To remove organisms from your boat and gear:

GREEN TIPS for your Park Visit

Reduce your Waste• Use reusable, compostable, biodegradable or recyclable containers. • Pack plenty of local, in-season fruits and vegetables and organic meat.• Remember, fresh fruit “wraps” itself – no additional packaging needed. • Choose washable, reusable cloth napkins and tablecloths. • Skip the individually packaged drinks and opt for jugs or coolers to share.• Use a canvas bag or other reusable totes for your food and picnic supplies.• Throw any unwanted items in the proper bins and take leftovers home to

enjoy later.

Appreciate Mother Nature • Protect habitat. Our parks are home to nesting birds, native plants and

other species that are easily trampled. Make sure your children and pets stay on trails and in open spaces so everyone enjoys themselves.

• Observe and learn. Take field guides, binoculars, even a nature journal to learn about wildlife and habitat, or start a fun “life list” of species you see.

• Use natural bug repellant and sunscreen. They’re less toxic for your family and safer for nature.

• Carpool. You’ll reduce emissions and save on park admission!
