A war of ‘Attrition’
Attrition means to wear someone or something down slowly over time!
The ‘Great War’ was fought in trenches, with very little progress made by either side.
TOTAL WAREverything was dedicated to fighting the war
-- Drafts were imposed: you fight or you go to prison
-- Economic warfare: cutting off supplies, stopping trade
-- Women took over many of the jobs left empty by men fighting
