the Attock Oil Group of Companies, a fully integrated group covering all segments of oil and gas industry from exploration, production and

refining to marketing of petroleum products, besides being also engaged in power generation, manufacturing and trading of cement and other

entrepreneurial activities in Pakistan. ARL is strategically located up-country and caters to the petroleum requirements in its region of location

and beyond.

The story of ARL begins in 1922 when the very first refinery in this region was established at Morgah, Rawalpindi. The initial refinery setup

consisted of two small stills of 2,500 barrel per day (bpd). The Refinery was expanded in late thirties and early forties to a total capacity of

10,000 bpd. We never looked back and since then a spree of continuous improvements and up-gradations went on. Our current nameplate

capacity stands at 42,000 bpd with the capability to process from the lightest to the heaviest (10 - 65 API) crudes. The company responded to

changes in business dynamics with prudence and creativity driven by a vision to turn unrealized potential into results. Our journey shows that

ARL used technology & innovation as an accelerator of growth. It is for this reason that today the company continues to operate at about 100%

capacity in spite of many hurdles and challenges.

ARL through a well planned investment strategy has also entered into diversification of its business thus ensuring the sustainability of its

refinery operations. Similarly, our emphasis on safety, environment and quality assurance has enabled us to meet international safety best

practices benchmarks as well as compliance to National Environment Quality Standard (NEQS). Achievements of 7.6 million safe man hours

and prestigious national and international awards are recognition of our efforts in this respect.

Tahir Jawaid holds a Master of Science in Industrial Engineering (M.S.I.E) from the University of Houston, USA and a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering (B.S.M.E) from the University of Engineering & Technology, Lahore, Pakistan. He has around 26 years of work experience in various industries ranging from the Fertilizer Industry, the downstream Petroleum Industry, Engineering and Construction Management and IT Solutions.

He is currently engaged as Vice President (HR & PA) at Engro Corporation Ltd (ECL). As part of the Senior Leadership Team, he is responsible for providing services, vision for people processes in Engro Chemical, Engro Energy and Engro Foods Limited, along with aligning of compensation, review processes and people development processes. He has also been associated with ECL for the last sixteen years in other management positions of Instrument & Electrical Manager, Planning Unit Manager and Materials Warehouse Section Head, as well. Before joining ECL, Tahir Jawaid worked in the USA as Senior System Analyst at USA Fortune Systems, Houston, Texas and as Project Engineer at Project Management Engineering Inc. Houston, Texas.

Haroon Waheed has 25 years experience in HR both in Pakistan and in International circuit. Helping people to grow together with the business is his passion, whereas building talent for the future is his obsession.

Unilever with immense business potential has always provided him huge opportunities to fulfil his “Passion” & “Obsession” by working with people within Pakistan and outside and thus growing people and business together. His association with Unilever provided him opportunities to do things differently and creatively whilst contributing into business and talent growth.This lead him to win two international awards in 2010 “Asia HR Leadership Award 2011” (Singapore) and “Best Talent Management Award 2010” (London).

A graduate of Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS), Alumni of Management Development Institute (MDI), Gurgaon, India and University of Engineering & Technology (UET), Lahore, has in depth understanding of technical as well as business domain of corporate environment.

In a career spread over 12 years, he has been exposed to multi-dimensional business processes ranging from organizational and leadership development, process improvement and efficiency enhancement, job and organizational structural analysis, talent management, competency modeling, quality control, ISO & Six Sigma quality initiatives, IMS (ISO 9001:2000, ISO 14001, OHSAS 18000) auditing, internal training for quality & technical programs, equipment designing and plant operations.

His major areas of interest and expertise are organizational & leadership development, job evaluation & org. structure analysis, six sigma, talent management and strategic HR Practices. Adil Khattak, presently Chief Executive Officer of Attock Refinery Limited (ARL) has been associated with The Attock Oil Group in Pakistan for the last 35 years. Prior to re-joining ARL as CEO, he worked for two years as Chief Operating Officer of Attock Petroleum Limited. He has extensive experience in engineering, maintenance, human resource management, project management and marketing.

Adil Khattak also holds the positions of Chief Executive Officer of Attock Gen Ltd. (165 MW IPP), Attock Hospital (Pvt.) Ltd., and National Cleaner Production Centre (NCPC). He is Director on the Boards of Attock Petroleum Limited and Attock Information Technology Services Limited. He is a Member of Oil Companies Advisory Committee (OCAC) and also a Member on the Boards of Governors of LUMS, Ghulam Ishaq Khan Institute of Engineering Sciences and Technology (GIKI) and Cadet College, Hassanabdal. Mr. Khattak is President of Attock Sahara Foundation, an NGO, working for the poor and needy people of Morgah and its surrounding areas.

He holds a master's degree in engineering from Texas Tech University, USA and has attended many technical, financial and management programs in institutions of international repute in Pakistan, USA, Europe and Japan.

Dr. Sadia Nadeem is the Head of FAST School of Business, National University of Computer and Emerging Sciences, Islamabad, Pakistan. She began her professional career as an electronics engineer in Pakistan and then moved to London where she studied and worked for 13 years. She holds an MBA and a PhD in Management from Cass Business School, City University, London, UK. Dr. Sadia has carried out research and consultancy work in large private and public sector organizations. She has over a decade of experience in the field of HR, and has presented her work at many national and international conferences. In UK, her primary areas of research were work-life balance, change management and discrimination and disadvantage in the labour market. However, her move to Pakistan shifted her interests towards high performance work systems, cross-cultural HRM and leadership.

She is currently working on several national and international projects which cover areas of global leadership competencies, trust across cultures, performance management, and organizational justice. She uses both qualitative and quantitative techniques for her projects, but particularly enjoys working on large datasets. Dr. Sadia is a Chartered MCIPD (UK) and an active member of the US Academy of Management, the SHRM chapter in Pakistan and HR Forum Islamabad.
