Workshop A: 9:00 – 12:00

Assessing and Advancing Early Tenement Exploration in MongoliaMongolia is land-locked country with a wealth of varying commodities. Historical exploration by government geological departments during the Soviet regime, and after independence in 1991, mapped regional surface geological features and identified outcropping mineralised zones. However, mineral exploration within Mongolia comes with many logistical and political challenges for foreign companies and investors.

This workshop should be attended by mining specialists who are specifically looking at, or are already in the process of early stage exploration in Mongolia. A series of session topics (e.g. historical exploration, Major Commodities, Main projects and developments, Logistical challenges, High-level tenement assessments, etc.) will be facilitated by the presenter by sharing personal experiences within Mongolia.

What will be covered:• Real life examples and case studies from active exploration in Mongolia • Examples of mineral prospectivity mapping in Mongolia developed by Xstract • Recent developments Mongolian mining law and business sentiment

How you will benefit:• An appreciation of the mineral endowment and prospectivity in Mongolia • An appreciation of boots on the ground exploration work in Mongolia • Knowledge of the legislative framework and challenges for the country going forward

Workshop Facilitator:

Trevor ElliceSenior Consultant GeologyXSTRACT

Workshop B: 13:00 – 16:00

Infrastructure Projects and Attracting Infrastructure Investments in a Challenging MarketOne of the key challenges for commencing mining projects in Mongolia is the lack of transport infrastructure (rail, road and sea) and also the availability of power to potential mine sites. Investment is needed to build the required infrastructure and this requires both international investment and support from the Mongolian government.

Currently the Mongolia government has plans to construct approximately 1,900km of rail infrastructure through MTZ, which is a State owned company. They have completed a Business Case Study for new rail lines, which include the following routes: • Tavan Tolgoi – Sainshand (450 km)• Sainshand – Baruun-Urt (350 km)• Baruun-Urt – Khuut (140 km)• Khuut – Choibalsan (150 km)• Khuut – Bichigt (200 km)• Khuut – Numrug (380 km)• Tavan Tolgoi – Gashuunsukhait (267 km)

What will be covered:• Understanding the current legislative situation around infrastructure projects and foreign investment in Mongolia• The process to get support from the Government of Mongolia and foreign investors for infrastructure projects• Sharing the experience of Hana Tserenkhand, who has been involved in railway project in Mongolia

How you will benefit:• Develop successful strategies for attracting foreign investment for your infrastructure projects • Learn how to work with the government to gain subsidies and support for foreign investment• Understand the process to negotiate multi-user agreements to help minimise risk and cost
