    I. Knowing God by experienceEternal life is to know you, the only true God, and to know Jesus Christ,

the one you sent.  John 17:3 (CEV)

      2. God pursues a __________________________ with you.

      3. God invites your __________________________ in His work.

      4. God speaks in various ways to reveal ___________________.

      5. God’s invitation leads to a crisis of _____________________

    that requires faith and __________________.

    II. God works.

When Pharaoh heard of this, he tried to kill Moses, but Moses ed

from Pharaoh and went to live in Midian.... Years passed, and the king

of Egypt died. But the Israelites still groaned beneath their burden ofslavery. They cried out for help, and their pleas for deliverance rose up

to God. God heard their cries and remembered his covenant promise to

Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. He looked down on the Israelites and felt

deep concern for their welfare.  Exodus 2:15,23-25 (NLT)

Reality 1: God is ______________________ at work around you.

But Jesus replied, “My Father is always working, and so am I. …I tell youthe truth, the Son can do nothing by himself. He does only what he sees

the Father doing. Whatever the Father does, the Son also does. For the

Father loves the Son and shows him everything he is doing.”

    John 5:17,19-20 (NLT)

    God’s works include...

    1. ...controlling the _________________.

Only I can tell you the future before it even happens. Everything I plan

will come to pass, for I do whatever I wish. I will call a swift bird of prey

from the east—a leader from a distant land to come and do my bidding.

I have said what I would do, and I will do it.  Isaiah 46:10-11 (NLT)

    2. ...saving ____________________ .

It is God who saved us and chose us to live a holy life. He did this not

because we deserved it, but because that was his plan long before the

world began—to show his love and kindness to us through Christ Jesus.

    2 Timothy 1:9 (NLT)

    3. ...sending _______________ .

Then Jesus explained: “My nourishment comes from doing the will of

God, who sent me, and from nishing his work.” John 4:34 (NLT)

    4. ...calling me to ____________ in His work.

For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus,

so that we can do the good things he planned for us long ago.

    Ephesians 2:10 (NLT)

    I. God pursues

When the Lord saw that he had caught Moses’ attention, God called to

him from the bush, “Moses! Moses!” ... Then he said, “I am the God of

your ancestors—the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of

    Jacob.” Exodus 3:4,6 (NLT)

Reality 2: God pursues a continuing love ______________________

with you that is real and _______________________.

Jesus replied, “‘You must love the Lord your God with all your

heart, all your soul, and all your mind.’ This is the rst and greatest

    commandment.”   Matthew 22:37-38 (NLT)

A love relationship with God is...

    1. ...initiated by ___________.

God showed how much he loved us by sending his only Son into the

world so that we might have eternal life through him. This is real love.

It is not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as a

sacrice to take away our sins.  1 John 4:9-10 (NLT)

    4

    2. ...indicated by my ____________________.

Jesus: “Those who obey my commandments are the ones who love

me. And because they love me, my Father will love them, and I will love

them. And I will reveal myself to each one of them.” John 14:21 (NLT)

    3. ...impaired by _______________________.

Don’t love the world or anything that belongs to the world. If you love the

world, you cannot love the Father.  1 John 2:15 (CEV)

    4. ...is real, ________________ and __________________.

“Do not come any closer,” God told him. “Take off your sandals, for you

are standing on holy ground.” ...When Moses heard this, he hid his face

in his hands because he was afraid to look at God.

      Exodus 3:5,6 (NLT)

The Lord would speak to Moses personally, as a man speaks to his

    friend. Exodus 33:11 (GW)

    5. ...intended for __________________.

Can anything ever separate us from Christ’s love? Does it mean he no

longer loves us if we have trouble or calamity, or are persecuted, or are

hungry or cold or in danger or threatened with death? ... Our fears for

today, our worries about tomorrow, and even the powers of hell can’t

keep God’s love away.  Romans 8:35,38 (NLT)

    II. God Invites

“... Moses is the ... man God sent to be a ruler and savior, with the help

of the angel that Moses saw in the burning bush.” Acts 7:35 (NCV)

Reality 3: God invites you to become_________________________

    with Him in His _________________.

God has made us what we are, and in our union with Christ Jesus he has

created us for a life of good deeds, which he has already prepared for us

    to do.  Ephesians 2:10 (GNB)

    God’s invitation...

1 ...announces _____________ God is at work.

Then the Lord told [Moses], “You can be sure I have seen the misery

of my people in Egypt. I have heard their cries for deliverance from

their harsh slave drivers. ... So I have come to rescue them from the

Egyptians and lead them out of Egypt into their own ... land.”

    Exodus 3:7-8 (NLT)

    2. …arrives in God’s ________________.

...Moses ...ed the country and lived as a foreigner in the land of Midian.

...Forty years later, in the desert near Mount Sinai, an angel appeared to

Moses in the ame of a burning bush.  Acts 7:29-30 (NLT)

    3. ...accomplishes His purposes, not my _____________.

“The cries of the people of Israel have reached me, and I have seen how

the Egyptians have oppressed them with heavy tasks. Now go, for I amsending you to Pharaoh. You will lead my people, the Israelites, out of

    Egypt.” Exodus 3:9-10 (NLT)

“One day when [Moses] was forty years old, he ... saw an Egyptian

mistreating a man of Israel. So Moses came to his defense and avenged

him, killing the Egyptian. Moses assumed his brothers would realize that

God had sent him to rescue them, but they didn’t. ... When Moses heard

that, he ed the country and lived as a foreigner in the land of Midian. ...

    Acts 7:23-25,29 (NLT)

    4. ...assumes my ___________________, not my ability.

“But who am I to appear before Pharaoh?” Moses asked God. “How

can you expect me to lead the Israelites out of Egypt?”

Then God told him, “I will be with you. ...” Exodus 3:11-12 (NLT)

God does speak—sometimes one way and sometimes another—even

though people may not understand it.  Job 33:14 (NCV)

Reality 4: God speaks by the ____________ ______________

through the Bible, prayer, circumstances and the church

to reveal __________________, His purposes, and His ways.

    I. God Speaks through...

    1. ...the _____________ ______________.

When the Spirit of truth comes, he will guide you into all truth. He will not

be presenting his own ideas; he will be telling you what he has heard.

    John 16:13 (NLT)

    7

    2. ...the ______________.

All Scripture is inspired by God and is useful to teach us what is true and

to make us realize what is wrong in our lives. ... It is God’s way of

preparing us in every way, fully equipped for every good thing God wants

us to do. 2 Timothy 3:16-17 (NLT)

    3. ..._________________.

If you need wisdom—if you want to know what God wants you to do—

ask him, and he will gladly tell you. He will not resent your asking.

    James 1:5 (NLT)

    4. ..._______________________.

Paul: I have a great opportunity to do effective work here, although there

are many people who oppose me.  1 Corinthians 16:9 (GW)

... James stood and said, “Brothers, listen to me. Peter has told you

about the time God rst visited the Gentiles to take from them a peoplefor himself. And this conversion of Gentiles agrees with what the

     prophets predicted.” Acts 15:13-15 (NLT)

    5. ...the ____________________.

And we will never stop thanking God for this: that when we preached to

you, you didn’t think of the words we spoke as being just our own, but

you accepted what we said as the very Word of God—which, of course, itwas—and it changed your lives when you believed it.

    1 Thessalonians 2:13 (TLB)

    II. Crisis of Belief

God speaking to Moses from the burning bush:

“The leaders of the people of Israel will accept your message. Then

all of you must go straight to the king of Egypt and tell him, ‘The Lord, the

God of the Hebrews, has met with us. Let us go....’

“But I know that the king of Egypt will not let you go except under

heavy pressure. So I will reach out and strike at the heart of Egypt with

all kinds of miracles. Then at last he will let you go.”

    Exodus 3:18-20 (NLT)

Reality 5: God’s invitation for you to work with Him always

leads you to a crisis of ___________________ that

    requires faith and ___________________.

    Forty years later:

Before Moses left Midian, the Lord said to him, “Do not be afraid to

return to Egypt, for all those who wanted to kill you are dead.”

So Moses took his wife and sons, put them on a donkey, and headed

back to the land of Egypt. In his hand he carried the staff of God.

    Exodus 4:19-20 (NLT)

    A Crisis of Belief...

    1. ...results from an assignment beyond my ____________.

Before the Lord God does anything, he tells his plans to his servants....

    Amos 3:7 (NCV)

    2. ...requires a decision about my _______________.

Jesus looked at them intently and said, “Humanly speaking, it is

impossible. But with God everything is possible.” Matthew 19:26 (NLT)

    3. ...requires ______________ to respond.

What is faith? It is the condent assurance that what we hope for is going

to happen. It is the evidence of things we cannot yet see. ... So, you see,it is impossible to please God without faith. Hebrews 11:1,6 (NLT)

    4. ...reveals my beliefs through my _________________.

...what’s the use of saying you have faith if you don’t prove it by your

actions? That kind of faith can’t save anyone. ... So you see, it isn’t

enough just to have faith. Faith that doesn’t show itself by good deeds is

no faith at all—it is dead and useless.  James 2:14,17 (NLT)

    I. Major Adjustments

Then Moses went back home and talked it over with Jethro, his

father-in-law. “With your permission,” Moses said, “I would like to go back

to Egypt to visit my family. ...”

“Go with my blessing,” Jethro replied.  Exodus 4:18 (NLT)

... Moses and Aaron went to see Pharaoh. They told him, “This iswhat the Lord, the God of Israel, says: ‘Let my people go....’ ”

That same day Pharaoh sent this order to the slave drivers and

foremen ...: “... Load them down with more work. Make them sweat! ...” ...

So Moses went back to the Lord and protested, “Why have you

mistreated your own people like this, Lord? ... Since I gave Pharaoh your

message, he has been even more brutal to your people. You have not

even begun to rescue them!” Exodus 5:1,6,8-9,22-23 (NLT)

Then the Lord said to Moses, “Go back to Pharaoh, and tell him to

let the people of Israel leave Egypt.... But I will cause Pharaoh to be

stubborn so I can multiply my miraculous signs and wonders in the land

of Egypt. ... When I show the Egyptians my power and force them to let

the Israelites go, they will realize that I am the Lord.”

So Moses and Aaron did just as the Lord had commanded them.

      • _______________________ (about God, His purposes, His ways,

    your relationship to Him)

    Kinds of Adjustments:

    1. ___________________ my life to God.

Then [Jesus] said to all, “Anyone who wants to follow me must put aside

his own desires and conveniences and carry his cross with him every

day and keep close to me! Whoever loses his life for my sake will save it,

but whoever insists on keeping his life will lose it;” Luke 9:23-24 (TLB)

    2. Recognizing my ___________________ on Him.

“...I am the Vine; you are the branches. Whoever lives in me and I in

    II. Obey and Experience God

And the Lord said ..., “Even with prophets, I ... communicate by visions

and dreams. But that is not how I communicate with my servant Moses.... I speak to him face to face, directly and not in riddles! He sees the

Lord as he is. ...”   Numbers 12:6-8 (NLT)

God let Moses know his ways. He let the Israelites know the things he

    had done.  Psalm 103:7 (GW)

Reality 7: You come to _____________ God as you ______________

Him and He accomplishes His work through you.

... Moses asked God. “How can you expect me to lead the Israelites

    out of Egypt?”

Then God told him, “I will be with you. And this will serve as proof

that I have sent you: When you have brought the Israelites out of Egypt,

you will return here to worship God at this very mountain.”Exodus 3:11-12 (NLT)

    My Obedience...

    1. ...demonstrates my ____________ for God.

Jesus: “The one who obeys me is the one who loves me; and becausehe loves me, my Father will love him; and I will too, and I will reveal

myself to him.”   John 14:21 (TLB)

    2. ...displays my _______________ in God’s love for me.

See how very much our heavenly Father loves us, for he allows us to be

called his children, and we really are! 1 John 3:1 (NLT)

But God showed his great love for us by sending Christ to die for us

while we were still sinners.  Romans 5:8 (NLT)

Jesus: “His master praised him for good work. ‘You have been faithful

in handling this small amount,’ he told him, ‘so now I will give you many

more responsibilities. Begin the joyous tasks I have assigned to you.’”

    Matthew 25:21 (TLB)

    4. ...encourages my _______________ with God.

Through the angel who appeared to him in the burning bush, Moses was

sent to be their ruler and savior. And by means of many miraculous signs

and wonders, he led them out of Egypt, through the Red Sea, and back

and forth through the wilderness for forty years.  Acts 7:35-36 (NLT)

There has never been another prophet like Moses, for the Lord talked to

him face-to-face. And at God’s command he performed amazing miracles

that have never been equaled. Deuteronomy 34:10-12 (TLB)
