Thanks to its geographical location, the region of the volcanoes can be easily and quickly reached from anywhere.

By planeGirona-Costa Brava Airport is 50km from La Garrotxa; a shuttle bus service runs to Girona bus station, from where TEISA buses connect to La Garrotxa. Barcelona Airport (El Prat) is 120km away, it is easy to reach the centre of Barcelona by rail or airbus and then connect with TEISA services to La Garrotxa.

By trainThere is no railway line in La Garrotxa and nearest rail station is in Vic and Figueres-Vilafant, althoug Girona station is probably the best bet for connecting to other means of transport, where trains from Barcelona, Madrid, Toulouse, Lyon, Marseille and Paris all stop.

Two days hiking on the Garrotxa guided by a local botanical expert, where we’ll discover the fascinating world of orchids and we’ll make photos of more than 20 species and we’ll appreciate the beauty of the real jewels of nature.

DAY 2We’ll climb to the top of Puigsacalm, through blooming meadows where there is an important diversity of species montane orchids. Then we’ll stop in the dry meadows of Vall d’Hostoles to look for Mediterranean species · Dinner and accommodation.

DAY 3We will go to Valley of Llémena, where we will find meadows and woods rich species of orchids that contrast with species that we found the previous day. Between the two days, we have the opportunity to photograph between 20 and 30 species of orchids of over 50 that are in La Garrotxa.

Old ways, first class cultural landscapes, rivers and wetlands, forests of all kinds and especially many volcanoes and lava f lows are the main attractions of the three routes that will allow us to discover La Garrotxa volcanic zone Natural Park.

DAY 2Starting point at the accommodation on foot, following old medieval trails we’ll go to the heart of the Natural Park, discovering the Croscat and Santa Margarida volcanoes. Then we’ll enter d’en Jordà beech forest to enjoy the silence and greenery in a unique place in the world · Dinner: free choice · Accommodation.

DAY 3The main purpose of the journey, it’s discover the old lava f lows from thousands of years ago, they f lowed through the valleys of the Garrotxa, leaving a unique landscape which is currently covered by forests of holm oaks · Dinner: free choice · Accommodation

DAY 4Walking along the greenway linking Olot and Girona, we’ll cross the river Fluvia and we’ll climb one of the best viewpoints in the area. We walk on Montolivet crater and we climb to the top of the volcano Montsacopa to glimpse the Canigó, Alta Garrotxa, Volcanic Zone and Olot at our feet.

DE LA GARROTXA From the heart of the Garrotxa region, where we are staying, we achieved one after another, the most emblematic peaks of the geographic area extend from Ripollès to Alt Emporda regions, through La Garrotxa Volcanic Zone Natural Park. Additionally, accompanied by one of the guides with more knowledge of the area, we’ll learn aspects of the f lora, fauna and geology of the area.

DAY 1. Arrival at La Garrotxa · Dinner and accommodation.

DAY 2. Transfer to Sant Privat d’en Bas. The aim of the journey will be to achieve Puigsacalm peak (1,515 m) and the Puig dels Llops (1,486 m). The privileged position of these mountains allows us to glimpse the whole region of Garrotxa and territories from Pedraforca to the Mediterranean and from the Pyrenees to the Montseny · Dinner and accommodation.

DAY 3. Transfer to ponds of Monars. Hiking to Pic de les Bruixes (1,390 m). Following the crest of the hill we come to Comanegra (1,557 m), the highest peak in the region of the Garrotxa. A good place to see larger birds of prey: vulture and lammergeier · Dinner and accommodation.

DAY 4. Transfer to Queralbs villa-ge. The cog railway that leads to Nuria. The ascent Puigmal (2,909 m) is a landmark in the Catalan hiking and allow us to observe species

of plants and animals found only in the high mountains of the Pyrenees, which are endemic · Dinner and accommodation.

DAY 5. Transfer to volcanic zone. Excursion through the heart of La Garrotxa Volcanic Zone Natural Park. We’ll climb volcanoes of Croscat (786 m) and Santa Margarita (682 m), we’ll get into their craters, we’ll walk on the lava f lows and we’ll get lost on d’En Jordà beech forest · Dinner and accommodation.

DAY 6. Transfer to Sadernes. The day excursion will take us to the top of Bassegoda (1,373 m). Among the crags and deep valleys of Alta Garrotxa we observe rich f lora and fauna unique. We enjoy with clean and clear water streams with lots of pools and waterfalls · Dinner and accommodation.
