•The SIAP is a decentralized entity of SAGARPA, is responsible for designing and coordinating the operation of the National Information System Agri-Food and Fisheries, and to promote competition and coordination for the implementation of the National Information System for Sustainable Rural Development (it is called SNIDRUS in Spanish).

• A working group was formed to create a single integrated system of

information storage on a single platform where the SIAP is organization more

dynamically with its technical capacity and the platform of the Integrated

System of Information Storage of Agricultural Products (SIIAPA) to get,

integration and generation of statistical storage information in Mexico.

• National System of Agri-Food Storage (SNAA), organized by ASERCA and

involving the World Bank, FAO and government agencies in Mexico related

to this subject, where the SIAP participates as the institution with powers in

the legal framework that endows of systems and information statistical of

industry.

IV. National System of Agri-Food Storage (SNAA) Project by WB/FAO/SAGARPA

PROJECTS


• FAO coordinates a national project to measure wastage, which will allow:

- Measure wastage with a unique methodology; single information

platform; avoid wastage throughout the supply chain; share our

experiences and feedback to improve measurements; Provide

recommendations to international organizations, in order to maintain the

same criteria for the identification and quantification of food wastages.

- To know how much is lost in storage of agricultural products.

- Make better estimates of the quantity stored.

- Redesign processes and policies to reduce waste in the first link in the

production chain.
