PricingThis brochure goes to print before most Escorted Tour flights are released for sale for the holiday dates shown. All prices shown are therefore our best guide price – sometimes the actual price will increase, sometimes it will reduce. Sometimes we get it just right! To secure your tour place before flights are bookable, you simply pay a £500 deposit to make an advance booking. You can enhance your holiday by adding in a rail journey or cruise; both are exciting ways to experience more of a destination and its hidden gems, while taking a break from the open roads.

RAIL JOURNEYS Hop aboard then sit back and relax while you take in all the spectacular sights from the comfort of your carriage, enjoying on board service and often short stops where you can disembark to take in the local sights.

In Canada, why not take a rail journey on the famous Rocky Mountaineer, an exciting way to see the breathtaking scenery of Western Canada. Enjoy this laid-back way of travelling either before our British Columbia tour or as part of a tailor-made holiday. In Australia you can travel on the Indian Pacific from the east coast to the Indian Ocean through Australia’s great outback, or ride on The Ghan from Adelaide to Alice Springs through the heart of Australia, while watching the passing backdrop of magnificent landscapes. In the USA we have a wide variety of rail packages travelling on Amtrak – a fantastic way to see even more of the great American landscape.

CRUISES When it comes to slowing down your pace of travel, you’ll find cruising is also a great choice. In Canada you can join a classic Alaska cruise where you’ll experience picturesque scenery combined with exciting onshore adventure as you cruise through the Inside Passage. Or cruise through the Panama canal amongst the rainforest and eco-culture to Columbia and Ecuador. We’ve a range of expedition cruises and no-fly options where you can set sail from the UK, as well as smaller ship excursions to get you into the more select ports around the globe that aren’t accessible to larger vessels.

Whether you want to relax on a rail journey or take to the waves on a cruise, we’ve lots of experiences for you to pick from all over the world. Just ask our Travel Specialists for details on the many options available to you in the destination you are visiting, or check out our website for more inspiration.

AUSTRALIAAustralia is the world’s oldest continent, filled with rich and rare treasures. The quirky wildlife, vast outback and urban sophistication complimented by a warm climate, makes it one of the most beautiful and welcoming countries on Earth.

The world-famous Uluru, Aboriginal culture and Great Barrier Reef, each add to the amazing contrasts and unforgettable experiences to be found within this giant land. You can watch as kangaroo graze in the hot sun, or as koala peacefully relax amongst eucalyptus trees.

Endless miles of beaches line the coastal strip, providing a contrast to the dry outback. The Ocean Road gives an insight into the incredible variation, from steep cliffs, city sunrises and Southern Ocean sunsets, to raw nature, vast vistas and incredible desert views.

Travel along the east coast and you’ll find the world’s oldest living rainforest, where you can snorkel in crystal waters with the most colourful display of marine life you’re ever likely to see.

DRIVING IN AUSTRALIA Travelling by motorhome is a great way to experience the sheer scale of the country but you may want to jump on a plane or train to cover parts, then pick up another vehicle route.

Here are a few of the top things you can do on a visit to Australia that you might like to include in your holiday:

In Australia motorhomes are mainly automatic drive and as you’ll be driving across vast areas we recommend you opt for a larger motorhome for your comfort, particularly if you’re taking a longer trip. For the more adventurous, you might

want to try a four-wheel-drive vehicle with a trailer accommodation so that you can really explore the Outback. More vehicle details, a list of pick up locations and rental options are available on our website.

DAYS 1 – 2 Fly to Perth and spend one night in a city centre hotel.

DAY 3 Pick up your motorhome and drive along the Coral Coast to Cervantes, where you can visit the Pinnacles of Nambung National Park. These amazing natural limestone structures, were formed approximately 25,000 to 30,000 years ago, after the sea receded and left deposits of sea shells. Over time, coastal winds removed the surrounding sand, leaving the pillars exposed to the elements.

DAY 4 Continue north along the Coast to Kalbarri. Get a glimpse of life over 3,500 million years ago at the Hamelin Pool Stromatolites – the largest and oldest living fossils on the planet. Take a stroll on Shell Beach – one of the few places where you will see a beach made entirely of billions of tiny shells.

DAYS 5 – 6 Further along the Coast is Monkey Mia, famous for the dolphins and their daily ritual of swimming to shore to interact with humans. The Shark Bay Heritage Area has a truly amazing variety of marine life which thrives in the clear turquoise waters of Shark Bay.

DAY 7 Follow the coast to Carnarvon, witness the dramatic spectacle of the blow holes and enjoy superb fishing, surfing, windsurfing, kite surfing and swimming in the beautifully rugged surroundings of Quobba Station, Red Bluff and Gnaraloo.

ARGENTINAArgentina is a true adventure filled with spectacular views and Latin spirit. You can take a revealing road trip through the fascinating lands, exploring colonial architecture and witnessing many of the traditional cultures and sights which make the country such a unique yet charming place to explore.

You’ll find lots of natural scenery, valleys and glaciers scattered throughout the entwining landscapes and encounter friendly locals and cattle drives along your journey. Step deep into the heart of local culture, meet gauchos, visit rain forests, Inca ruins and many other historical sites as you explore.

Take time to visit the magical Valley of the Moon and Argentinian pampas, before venturing further along the weaving Andes roads. Enhance your trip by taking a flight to the spectacular Iguazú waterfalls. Sample fine wines and embrace local culture in Buenos Aires while enjoying a tango show with dinner, or why not join a class to experience the passion and sensuality of Tango first hand.

DRIVING IN ARGENTINA The roads in Argentina are varied – many are bumpy and dusty, however the stunning scenery along the way makes up for the less than perfect ride. Vehicles drive on the right-hand side of the road.

WE REALLY WANT YOU TO ENJOY YOUR HOLIDAY SO THERE ARE A FEW THINGS YOU NEED TO KNOW:

The country’s facilities are far from 4-star, campsites are basic and don’t always have hot running water. The motorhomes are the best available, but aren’t necessarily comparable to the standards in other destinations. This goes for the roads too, varying from tarmacked dual carriageways to dust tracks, however this all adds to the authentic experience.

If you are happy to leave any British notions of health and safety behind and adopt an altogether more South American attitude, then you’ll have the time of your life on this truly unforgettable adventure.

We take a maximum of 8 motorhomes on this tour, so it’s best to book early.

PAYMENTS In order to minimise the fluctuating inflation in Argentina, we require different payment terms to our normal conditions. In order to secure your place on this tour we will require a larger deposit and earlier staged payments.

Join Pauline and David as we explore the amazing sights of Argentina, a

country full of fantastic scenery and friendly locals, as well as dusty roads

and rustic campsites which all add to the charm.

SOUTHERN AFRICABeautiful open spaces and captivating wildlife await you in the Rainbow Nation, where you’ll enjoy world-class service and breathtaking moments, as you step in to the heart of nature.

Witness the magnificence of giant cats in their natural habitat, or watch in amazement as a family of elephants wander steadily across the road. Spot a pride of lions lazing under a tree in the midday heat, or simply park up at a watering hole and enjoy a leisurely breakfast with the sun beating down.

You can follow the stunning Garden Route, with rolling vineyards that guide you along the Indian Ocean coast. Or stop off in Cape Town, the cosmopolitan coastal city brimming with new discoveries.

Venture through four countries, crossing the famous Namibian desert sand dunes. Visit the internationally renowned game reserve in Kruger National Park, relax on Botswana’s Chobe River cruise, or marvel at the power of Zimbabwe’s Victoria Falls and the picturesque rain forest that surrounds them.

DRIVING IN SOUTHERN AFRICA The roads in South Africa are generally very pleasant to drive. Other Southern African roads are more varied, especially in Namibia where you’ll find more dusty and bumpy tracks. Vehicles drive on the left as in the UK, with plenty of areas to stop off, so you can explore along the way.

WE REALLY WANT YOU TO ENJOY YOUR HOLIDAY SO THERE ARE A FEW THINGS YOU NEED TO KNOW:

This is a challenging tour, you’ll find the facilities and campsites vary from full facility sites to simple national park campgrounds without hookups or wash blocks. Do not be surprised to see extension cables and splitters being employed and it may be necessary for tour members to take turns between having hook-up one night and running off their unit’s battery the next. It is also not uncommon to share pitches in order to accommodate the group in some of the smaller or busy sites.

The motorhomes are very well suited to this tour, but aren’t necessarily comparable to rental vehicles in other destinations. This goes for the roads too, varying from tarmacked dual carriageways to dust tracks with potholes (particularly in Namibia). This all adds to an authentic experience and if you are happy to leave any British notions of health and safety behind then you’ll have the time of your life. If however you are unsure, we recommend you start with our South Africa Tour on page 40.

Here are a few of the top things you can do on a visit to Southern Africa that you might like to include in your holiday:

Motorhomes in South Africa tend to be hand-made and built to last on some of the more rural roads. You can choose from medium and large units for different levels of comfort, as well as four wheel drive vehicles if you’re looking for some off road

adventure. More details, along with a list of pick up locations and rental options are available on our website.

USAThe USA is full of adventure, made even more enjoyable by the traditional American hospitality you’ll be greeted with along the way. With a reputation for being the land of ‘super-sized,’ the large open roads offer a warm welcome that feels familiar but excitingly foreign at the same time.

There’s so much to do in western America. Take a trip along California’s orange groves, embrace the glitz of Hollywood, or leave your heart in San Francisco.

Take in the dazzling lights of Las Vegas, where glamour and extravagance reign, or perhaps indulge in a luxury spa and sample fine cuisine by world-renowned chefs.

Out of the cities you can marvel at the vastness of the Grand Canyon, or soak up the sheer wonder of the Yosemite National Park with the world’s largest redwood trees, before making your own iconic road trip along the legendary Route 66.

Head to the Deep South and experience some southern soul music, rhythm and blues and the mesmerising mardi gras celebrations in New Orleans. Or why not take a stopover in the bustling metropolis of New York, Boston or Washington DC and immerse yourself in city life.

DRIVING IN AMERICA America has an excellent highway system making it easy to cross vast distances from state to state. You’ll drive on the right, but find it comes easily as there are no roundabouts.

Here are a few of the exciting things you can do on a visit to Canada that you might like to include in your holiday:

There are lots of different types of motorhomes to choose from in Canada and as you’ll be driving on big roads, you might like to opt for a larger model for extra comfort, particularly if you are planning a long trip. Most vehicles have automatic transmission and because

of the nature of Canadian roads, there are often standard restrictions for driving on certain road types which the motorhome company will advise you of on collection. More vehicle details, a list of pick up locations and rental options are available on our website.

DO YOU JUST BOOK MOTORHOMES? No, although most of the holidays we organise do involve a motorhome booking, we can book all kinds of different holiday components including flights, hotels, airport transfers, pre-bookable excursions, car hire and more.

Whether you’re looking for a balloon trip over Ayers Rock in Australia, white water rafting in New Zealand, or Skyplane excursions and whale watching in Canada, we can help. We can advance book city tours or entrance tickets to attractions and places of interest. You don’t need to spend all of your holiday in the motorhome. Why not use the trip to visit friends or family, take a train journey across Australia to avoid having to do all the driving, or rent a log-style cabin in Canada?

Just let us know your requirements and we will give you a personalised quotation.

CAN YOU HIRE ANY TYPE OF MOTORHOME? We have carefully selected rental company partners in all the countries we offer, making sure that safety and vehicle maintenance is upheld. We have tried to provide a wide range of vehicles, both in terms of price and size for each destination, however as well as the most popular motorhome rental partners which are shown in this brochure, we also work with a range of other companies to give you a full variety of vehicle types. Talk to a Travel Specialist to find out more.

WHAT IS THE RIGHT SIZE MOTORHOME FOR ME? That all depends where you’re travelling to - we can book many different sizes of motorhome to suit your requirements and budget. Vehicles range from van conversions without toilet or shower facilities, to full A-class RV’s for cruising across America that are as big as a coach. In between you could hire a truck camper (a pick-up truck with a sleeping compartment attached), or various sizes of coach-built units (from 2 to 6-berth) with shower and toilet. In Australia we can also book 4-wheel adventure campers to allow you to get off the beaten track.

DO YOU DO ONE-WAY RENTALS? It is possible to do one-way rentals with most companies, although there is generally a charge for this.

WHICH IS BEST FOR ME – AN ESCORTED TOUR OR A TAILOR-MADE HOLIDAY? This all depends how you prefer to travel – our Escorted Tours are a great way to experience a new country in the company of like-minded people. The tours are pre-booked for you and you have the services of our experienced Tour Escorts who provide a point of contact, bring the group together on site and help with any difficulties encountered. A tailor-made holiday gives you the complete freedom to travel when and where you choose independently and without other travellers around you. This is great if you know the country or are a confident traveller, as you won’t have Tour Escorts on hand to help.

YOUR GUIDE TO MOTORHOMING CAN WE TAKE THE MOTORHOME ACROSS NATIONAL BORDERS? As long as you return the vehicle to the country in which you originally hired the motorhome, most companies allow you to travel into other countries. The notable exception in the USA is Mexico where most American motorhome companies do not allow their vehicles to travel.

CAN WE DRIVE ANYWHERE? Most companies insist that you keep to tarmac and gravelled roads, unless you have specifically booked a vehicle that is equipped to go off-road. In some countries there are certain areas that you are not allowed to visit in a motorhome such as central New York, or the Death Valley National Park in the peak summer months.

HOW DO I BOOK CAMPSITES? For our Escorted Tours, all the campsites, as well as hotels and excursions are pre-booked for you as part of the tour. For tailor-made holidays, with a few exceptions, we aren’t able to make specific campsite bookings, but will instead supply you with information on where and how to book campsites. If you travel out of the high season it is not always necessary to book in advance, but we do recommend that you book campsites in the areas most in demand, for example near the Grand Canyon or Niagara Falls.

DO YOU NEED TO ARRIVE AT A CAMPSITE BEFORE A CERTAIN TIME? If you have booked in advance the campsite should hold your pitch until you arrive. If you are travelling without a reservation we recommend that you arrive at your destination by late afternoon.

WHAT ARE THE CAMPSITES LIKE? IS IT SAFE TO FREE (WILD) CAMP? Campsites vary from country to country and within each country, just as they do in the UK. In America for example there is an enormous variety of privately-owned campsites, and campsites belonging to chains, such as KOA (Kampgrounds of America). In addition, many of the national parks have specially designated camping areas where facilities may be basic but this is reflected in the price. The Club does not recommend free camping (camping in a non-designated campground) for your security, its best that you stay on a recognised campsite. The Camping and Caravanning Club has a reciprocal arrangement with the New Zealand Motor Caravan Association entitling Club members to NZMCA member benefits. Please ask for details.

ARE THERE HOOK-UPS ON SITES? Depending on the site you book most will have hook-ups. Most rental motorhomes work on a dual battery system, with one battery for the internal workings of the motorhome and another supplying the engine. In most cases these batteries will provide 12 hours power without the need to recharge, depending on the amount of power, electrical usage and your

daily mileage. American and Canadian motorhomes also have generators which supplement the power supply.

WHERE DO I GET THE GAS FOR COOKING? In most cases you will be supplied with a full tank of gas when you pick up the vehicle. In the past most travellers have found that the gas supplied is sufficient for the journey, but if you do need to fill up, you will be told how to do this when you pick up the vehicle.

WHAT IS IT LIKE TO DRIVE A MOTORHOME? All of the motorhome companies will provide full instruction on how to operate the vehicle. Compared to driving in the UK, driving abroad can seem a pleasure (with the exception of city centres as with most countries.) In each country the motorhome is designed for the environment in which it operates. Driving a large motorhome in America is not an issue when everything else is big! The streets are wider, parking spaces are larger, most of the campsites have drive-through pitches so you don’t need to reverse onto a pitch. Some motorhomes come equipped with reversing sensors or even cameras, especially on the larger vehicles. If you are reversing the vehicle it is always advisable to ask your passenger to get out and watch you while reversing to avoid any accidents. Motorhomes are basically easy to drive if approached sensibly. Remember that because of your size, everyone can see you.

CAN I USE MY ORDINARY LICENCE? It is possible for anyone over 21 to rent all the vehicles offered in this brochure using an ordinary UK full driving licence, even including the larger American ‘A’ Class RV’s. In some countries and for certain rental companies there is a maximum age of 75. As a general rule, driving regulations are those used in the country where you hire your vehicle. In Argentina an International Driving Permit is a legal requirement, whereas in Australia, the USA, South Africa and Canada it is advised, but is not required in New Zealand.

CAN ALL MEMBERS OF OUR PARTY DRIVE THE VEHICLE? As long as everyone has a valid driving licence and it’s declared on pick-up for insurance purposes, all members of your party can drive the motorhome. There is sometimes an extra charge to include more people on the vehicle insurance.

WHAT HAPPENS WHEN I PICK UP THE MOTORHOME? You should allow at least a couple of hours to pick up your motorhome from the rental depot - this can be longer at peak times. As well as completing all the necessary paperwork for the vehicle, the rental company may require you to watch a video presentation telling you about the motorhome, as well as giving you a personal demonstration. Depending on the rental company, there may be washing and showering facilities, tourist information and drinks machines at their depot - some also have internet access.

1. For tailor-made rentals early booking is highly recommended – rental companies offer early booking discounts and prices rise as demand increases.

2. You will need to book a personal and vehicle kit with your vehicle.

3. We highly recommend that you take the maximum insurance package available with your motorhome rental. This often includes certain extras such as GPS or camp chairs.

4. The vehicles offered in this programme are built for the rental market – do not expect it to be like your motorhome at home.

5. Some companies offer older vehicles at a cheaper rate – they will have very high mileage and can be well used.

6. Pricing is based on demand – smaller vehicles can be more expensive to hire than larger vehicles so think about renting a larger vehicle – remember the roads in the country are big too.

7. After a long flight, book a hotel for at least one night before driving your motorhome.

8. If travelling in peak holiday periods, book your campsites in advance, especially in popular areas like national parks.

9. UK standards do not apply to the campsites in the countries featured in this brochure. Campsites abroad can range from very basic to high quality across all the countries featured.

10. Escorted Tours do not go in convoy – you are free to travel at your own pace.

10 THINGS TO KNOW BEFORE YOU GO

70 71For the latest information and prices visit www.worldwidemotorhomingholidays.co.uk Call our Worldwide Travel Specialists on 024 7647 5340

Page 37: EXPERIENCES THAT MOVE YOU€¦ · THE CAMPING AND CARAVANNING CLUB, GREENFIELDS HOUSE, WESTWOOD WAY, COVENTRY. CV4 8JH T: 024 7647 5340

WHAT INSURANCE COVER DO I NEED TO TAKE OUT? As well as your personal and medical insurance, you will need to take out insurance to cover the rental vehicle - this has to be taken out with the rental company to cover damage to the vehicle and third parties. We recommend that, for peace of mind, travellers take out the fully inclusive package offered by the rental companies. This reduces the accident excess to a minimum and covers all potential damage and can include other benefits such as no one-way fee or free outside furniture.

WHAT IS THE SECURITY DEPOSIT? Generally most companies ask you to leave a security deposit, usually payable by credit card, as a deposit against damage to the motorhome. Sometimes the money is actually deducted from your account and then re-credited upon the return of the vehicle. You may lose (or gain) a small amount depending on the exchange rates at the time of the transaction. Other companies just take an imprint of your card. You will be required to return the vehicle in the same state of cleanliness as when you picked it up.

DO THEY HAVE MANUAL OR AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION? In the USA and America, all vehicles have automatic transmission. In Australia and New Zealand, they are moving more to automatic transmission. In other countries it is possible to obtain both types.

WHAT ARE THE MOTORHOMES LIKE? Many of the rental motorhomes we use are manufactured especially for the rental market and not the private ownership market, so do not necessarily expect to see the same standard as your own motorhome. In each country, we can offer a range of different types and sizes to suit your requirements and budget. In general it would be true to say that North American motorhomes enjoy a more luxurious ‘spec’ than southern hemisphere vehicles. However some companies offer premium vehicles with solar panels, DVD players, water filters and more. Other companies operate in economies of scale with large depots running big fleets sometimes with high mileage vehicles. HOW MUCH FUEL WILL I NEED? HOW EXPENSIVE IS IT? Most of the worldwide destinations tend to have cheaper fuel prices than we have in the UK so you may be surprised at how relatively cheap your fuel bills will be. However the larger the motorhome you rent the more fuel you’ll use. In North America most vehicles tend to have petrol engines whereas diesel is more the norm in the southern hemisphere.

HOW LONG SHOULD I ALLOW FOR THE TRIP? We can book trips for as long or short as you like. Many people make the mistake of underestimating the distances involved in places such as the USA and Australia – it’s just not possible to cover all of Australia or the USA in a two week holiday. Our Travel Specialists can suggest tried and tested itineraries for you to help you get the most from your holiday.

in a hotel. As your arrival airport is likely to be in a major city, it’s a good to take the opportunity to explore the city before you pick up your motorhome and avoid having to drive around busy streets.

Some rental companies will arrange transfers from designated hotels near the airport and this service is sometimes free of charge, depending upon which company you are using or which package you have booked. Similarly on departure, the motorhome company can sometimes arrange to drop you off at the airport for your return. If not, you’ll need to use local taxis or public transport.

IS THERE ROOM TO STORE MY LUGGAGE? We highly recommend that you take soft bags or suitcases rather than rigid ones. They are much easier to store in the motorhome as storage space can be limited. Some of the rental companies allow you to leave luggage at their depot, but you must return to the same depot to collect it. Some companies do offer a forwarding service but there is an extra charge for this.

WHAT ELECTRICITY SUPPLIES ARE AVAILABLE? For your UK appliances you will need to take an electrical adaptor to use your electrical appliances in your motorhome or in campsite wash blocks.

WHAT IS THE LAYOUT OF THE VEHICLE? Each of the rental companies has a range of vehicles with various different types of layout. Our Travel Specialists can provide you with details of the options available and will be able to book the type of vehicle which best suits your requirements.

HOW MANY SEATBELTS ARE THERE IN THE VEHICLE? Each vehicle will have a sufficient number of seatbelts for the number of people that it is designed to accommodate. In all of the countries featured in this brochure, the wearing of seatbelts is compulsory. In the front two seats of the vehicle the seatbelts are 3-point as in any modern car. In some vehicles the seats in the rear are 2-point, as used in aircraft.

WHEN ARE THE BEST TIMES TO TRAVEL? In general you can get cheaper rates if you travel outside the peak periods in summer. Please note that in New Zealand, Australia and South Africa, the peak season is during our winter, with the Christmas and New Year periods in particularly high demand. Travelling out of high season can mean that you avoid the crowds and there is generally more space on the campsites.

WHEN SHOULD I BOOK? Many companies now work with similar pricing strategies to airlines with fluid pricing. Generally speaking the earlier you book the more likely you are to get a better price.

DO I NEED A VISA AND HOW LONG CAN I STAY? At the time of writing visas are not required for UK passport holders travelling to South Africa, Botswana, Namibia, Argentina or New Zealand. Visitor visas are required for the USA (costing US$14), Canada (costing CDN$7) and Australia (costing AU$20), which can be applied for electronically. Visitor visas for Zimbabwe can be obtained at the border. In order to travel you normally require a passport with at least three months, or preferably six months, remaining after your proposed return date.

CAN YOU BOOK VEHICLES WITH ACCESS FOR PEOPLE WITH REDUCED MOBILITY? Many of the rental companies have vehicles available with assisted access - please ask for details.

DO I HAVE TO EMPTY THE TOILETS? When the vehicle is supplied, all the grey and black water tanks, or cassettes, will be empty and you are expected to return the vehicle in a similar condition. Failing to do this will result in you being charged by the rental company.

CAN WE DRINK THE WATER IN THE MOTORHOME WATER TANKS? Because you cannot always be sure of the water supply that has been put in the tank, we recommend that you use bottled water only for drinking and cooking. The water in the motorhome should be used for personal washing.

IS THE MOTORHOME FULLY EQUIPPED? Usually the motorhome is fully equipped for at least the number of berths advertised for that vehicle. This includes kitchen equipment, towels and bedding. Depending upon the package you book with your rental there may be a charge for this. There is also usually an extra charge for outside furniture.

HOW DO WE GET FROM THE AIRPORT TO PICK UP THE MOTORHOME? After a long-haul flight it is highly inadvisable to pick up a motorhome straight from the flight and we would strongly recommend you book at least your first night in a hotel near your arrival airport – in fact some companies insist that if you arrive on an international flight you must take your first night

CAN WE HIRE A MOBILE PHONE OR SATELLITE PHONE? Some of the rental companies offer the possibility of renting mobile phones so that you are able to use the local networks for calls within the country. In Australia, because mobile phone coverage can be very sparse, it is also possible to rent satellite phones.

CAN WE HIRE A SAT NAV? Generally most companies offer the option of renting Sat Nav – some even offer it as part of the all-inclusive package.

WHAT HAPPENS IF WE BREAKDOWN? Breakdown cover is included in all rentals and all companies will provide you with a 24-hour emergency telephone contact number that you should call. Depending on the nature of the problem, they will either send someone out to you, or ask you to carry on until the next major town and arrange for the repairs to be done there.

WHICH SIDE OF THE ROAD DO WE DRIVE ON? In New Zealand, Southern Africa and Australia driving is on the left, whereas in the USA, Argentina and Canada it is on the right.

WHAT ARE THE SPEED LIMITS? Speed limits vary from country to country, and in the case of the USA, from state to state. In some countries there are reduced speed limits for motorhomes and you should be made aware of these when picking up the vehicle.

If you do incur speeding or parking fines it is best to pay them before you return the vehicle. Rental companies will often charge you an administration fee in addition to the fine, if they are required to handle the payment for you.

IS SMOKING ALLOWED IN THE MOTORHOMES? Most rental companies forbid smoking in the motorhomes and impose heavy cleaning charges if they detect that you have been smoking in there.

TERMS AND CONDITIONSThe aim of Worldwide Motorhoming Holidays (which is a division of The Camping and Caravanning Club Ltd) is to provide every member with the holiday and service they expect.

ABTA We are a member of ABTA (membership number V3987) and obliged to maintain a high standard of service to you by ABTA’s Code of Conduct. We can also offer you an approved Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) scheme for resolving complaints. Further information on the code and ABTA’s help with complaints can be found at www.abta.com

PROTECTION FOR YOUR MONEY We provide full financial protection for our package holidays. For flight-based holidays this is through our Air Travel Organiser’s Licence number 6012. For non-flight-based packages protection is provided by way of a bond held by ABTA.

When you buy an ATOL protected flight or flight inclusive holiday from us you will receive an ATOL Certificate. This lists what is financially protected, where you can get information on what this means for you and who to contact if things go wrong.

In the unlikely event of our insolvency, the CAA or ABTA will ensure that you are not stranded abroad and will arrange to refund any money you have paid to us for an advance booking. For further information visit the www.atol.org.uk and www.abta.com.

If you book arrangements other than a package holiday from this brochure, the financial protection referred to above does not apply.

1. THE CAMPING AND CARAVANNING CLUB AND WHAT WE DO We are The Camping and Caravanning Club Limited (“The Club”) of Greenfields House, Westwood Way, Coventry CV4 8JH. Our business is to make arrangements with suppliers (airlines, motorhome companies, ferry operators, campsites, etc) under which they will provide the services which together comprise your holiday. The deposit, is £500 per person plus holiday cover premiums and payable at the time of your booking, is our assurance of your serious intent and it is on the basis of this assurance that we make all the booking arrangements on your behalf. Some companies may charge for the full amount of the airline journey at the time of booking and this may not be refundable. The deposit will not be refunded in the event that you decide to cancel your booking. When you have made a booking, we will send you a booking confirmation invoice detailing all aspects of your booking and at that point a contract between you and us will arise. Please check that all your holiday and travel details in this confirmation invoice are correct and as advised at the time of booking. As soon as your booking confirmation is received it is your responsibility to check the details and call us within 48 hours if there are any errors so that we can rectify them. Regrettably we cannot accept any responsibility for errors, omissions or amendments after this time. When you make a booking you guarantee that you have the authority to accept and do accept on behalf of your party the terms of these booking conditions. The Camping and Caravanning Club respects your right to privacy and takes full responsibility for ensuring that proper security measures are in place to protect the information you supply. The Camping and Caravanning Club will not pass information on to any person not responsible for part of your travel arrangements.

2. SPECIAL REQUESTS We will pass on to the supplier concerned (e.g. airlines, motorhome company, hotels) any special requests which you have notified to us and which are detailed in your booking confirmation invoice but we cannot guarantee that your requests will be met and we accept no liability to you in respect thereof.

3. PAYMENT TERMS The total charge for the goods and services comprising your holiday will be clearly shown in your booking confirmation invoice. We must receive the balance on your holiday, which is shown as outstanding, not less than 12 weeks prior to your departure date. We will not issue a reminder. In the case of late bookings, where the departure date is less than 12 weeks away when we issue the Booking Confirmation, full payment must be made at the time of booking. In the case of bookings made within 7 days of departure, a late booking fee of £50 will be applied. These fees will apply whether booking while in the UK or abroad. If any surcharges become applicable (see condition 5) we will send you a revised invoice, to which the foregoing payment terms will apply. If we have not received the outstanding balance by the due date as specified above you will be deemed to have cancelled the holiday and will be liable to us for cancellation charges as described in condition 11. When paying by cheque please allow 7 clear banking days for the cheque to clear, cheques should be made payable to “The Camping and Caravanning Club”. Mastercard, Visa and Maestro cards are accepted (sorry we are unable to accept Electron). Cheques are not accepted for non-refundable payments which are required by some transport carriers and some other products. When you buy a flight-based holiday, all monies you pay to the travel agent are held by him on behalf and for the benefit of the Trustees of the Air Travel Trust at all times. This is subject to the agent’s obligation to pay it to us for so long as we do not fail. If we fail, any money held at that time by the agent, or subsequently accepted from you by him, is and continues to be held on behalf of and for the benefit of the Trustees of the Air Travel Trust without any obligation to pay that money to us. When you buy a holiday not including a flight, all monies you pay to the travel agent are held by him on our behalf at all times.

4. WHAT DOES YOUR HOLIDAY PRICE INCLUDE? Your booking confirmation invoice will detail all the goods and services which we will agree to procure or arrange on your behalf. During your holiday you will inevitably incur additional expenditure in respect of other items.

Examples include:

• campsite fees on tailor-made fly-drive holidays;

• motorhome fuel or refills of propane gas; motorhome security and cleaning deposits;

• motorway tolls; park entrance fees; food and other provisions; items of personal expenditure;

• Personal travel and emergency medical insurance (save where we have agreed to arrange these policies on your behalf in which case they will be listed on the Booking Confirmation invoice as included in the holiday price).

5. PRICE CHANGES Changes in transportation costs, including the cost of fuel; dues, taxes or fees chargeable for services such as landing taxes or embarkation or disembarkation fees at airports; and exchange rates mean that the price of your travel arrangements may change after you have booked. However there will be no change within 30 days of your departure.

We will absorb and you will not be charged for any increase equivalent to 2% of the price of your travel arrangements, which excludes insurance premiums and any administration charges. You will be charged for the amount over and above that, plus an administration charge of £1 per person together with an amount to cover agents’ commission. If this means paying more than 10% of the price of your travel arrangements, you will have the option of accepting a change to another holiday if we are able to offer one (if this is of equivalent or higher quality you will not have to pay more but if it is of lower quality you will be refunded the difference in price), or cancelling and receiving a full refund of all monies paid, except for any administration charges. We will provide a refund of insurance premiums paid to us if you can show that you are unable to transfer or reuse your policy. Should you decide to cancel for this reason, you must exercise your right to do so by written notice to us within 14 days of the issue date printed on your final invoice.

Should the price of your holiday go down due to changes mentioned above, by more than 2% of your holiday cost, then any refund due will be paid to you. However, please note that travel arrangements are not always purchased in local currency and some apparent changes have no impact on the price of your travel due to contractual and other protection in place.

6. HOLIDAY COVER Where you have asked us to arrange continental motoring insurance and/or personal travel and emergency medical insurance on your behalf the cover will be provided by Intana of Sussex House, Perrymount Road, Haywards Heath, West Sussex RH16 1DN, under the terms and conditions set out in the Holiday cover section of this brochure. All Holiday cover premiums include the Insurance Premium Tax of 20% for personal elements and 6% for vehicle elements. Your Holiday cover policy, or a link to view it online, will be sent to you together with your booking confirmation invoice at the time of booking. If you have a justifiable reason for being dissatisfied with the cover provided by your policy then you may cancel it within 14 days of the date of booking. We will refund your premium in full provided no claims have been made. You will find general details of the Holiday cover within this brochure. If you are not taking our personal insurance cover, please note that providing us with proof of alternative cover that is comparable with our own insurance policy is a condition of booking a pitch, tour, or other accommodation. If you would like more information you should telephone us on 024 7642 2024, particularly if you feel the Holiday cover may not meet your needs.

7. CHANGES TO YOUR BOOKING BY CUSTOMER You may ask us to change one or more of the details of your holiday booking at any time. If we receive your request at least 12 weeks prior to your departure date we will attempt to accommodate your request, subject to availability. A minimum administration fee of £50 will be charged for any alteration which requires any of our suppliers to be issued with new instructions. In the event that your transport or rental or accommodation charges change as a result of your alteration, both the £50 administration fee and the changed transportation/accommodation costs will be reflected in your revised confirmation invoice. If we receive your request less than 12 weeks prior to your departure date we will also try to accommodate your request. In addition to the fee referred to above, where some component of the price of the holiday is dependent upon the number or characteristics of the persons in the party, any change to those numbers or characteristics will result in the price being recharged on the basis of the new party. In the event that we are unable to accommodate your revised requirements, we reserve the right to treat it as a cancellation and a new booking to which cancellation charges described in Condition 11 apply.

Some suppliers, and airlines, special fares/deals are in some cases non refundable as soon as they are booked. In addition some suppliers and airlines may consider a name change or other change to an exisitng booking as a cancellation and rebooking with up to 100% cancellation charges payable by you. Please check at the time of booking

8. TRANSFER OF BOOKING BY CUSTOMER If you or any member of your party are prevented from proceeding with the holiday you may have it transferred to another person provided:

i we receive written notification of the transfer, full details of the transferor and transferee and payment of £50 to cover associated administrative costs at least 30 days before your departure date;

ii the transferee meets any conditions which were applicable to the holiday which you booked (e.g. regarding eligibility for price discounts); and

iii the new party still includes at least one Club member.

Our acceptance of the transfer means that both you, the transferor and the transferee will be jointly and severally liable to us for payment of any balance of the holiday price then outstanding and also for any supplement which our suppliers might impose as a result of the transfer.

For flight inclusive packages you must pay the charges levied by the airline concerned. As most airlines do not permit name changes after the tickets have been issued, you will have to pay the full cost of an alternative flight (if available) if you wish to transfer after tickets have been issued.

9. CHANGES TO THE BOOKING BY THE CLUB Arrangements are often made many months in advance. Occasionally we, the airlines and/or suppliers have to make changes to and correct errors in published and other details before and after bookings have been confirmed and cancel confirmed bookings. Whilst we always endeavour to avoid changes and cancellations, we reserve the right to do so. However we will only cancel your confirmed booking 12 weeks or less before departure where you have failed to comply with any requirement of these Terms and Conditions, entitling us to cancel, or where we are forced to do so as a result of circumstances outside of our control or because an insufficient number people have booked your chosen arrangements and we have notified you of this not less than 12 weeks before departure.

Most changes are minor. Occasionally we have to make a significant change. Significant changes include the following changes when made before departure;

i a change of accommodation to that of a lower official classification or standard for the whole or a major part of the time you are away;

ii a change of outward departure time resulting in the overall length of time you are away being reduced by 24 hours or more; or

iii a change of UK departure point to one which is substantially more inconvenient to you (except for between airports within or around the same city, for example London Gatwick and London Stansted Airports).

If we have to make a significant change or cancel, we will tell you as soon as possible. If there is time to do so before departure, we will offer you the choice of the following options:

a) accepting the changed arrangements or

b) purchasing alternative arrangements from us of a similar standard to those originally booked if available (if the alternative is less expensive than the original, we will refund the difference) or

c) cancelling or accepting the cancellation in which case you will receive a full refund of all monies you have paid to us.

10. CANCELLATION OF BOOKING BY THE CLUB We may cancel your holiday if you fail to pay the outstanding

balance by the due date (see condition 3) and also in the circumstances stipulated in condition 9. We also reserve the right where necessary to cancel your holiday at any time prior to 12 weeks before your departure date. In this last case we will try to offer you an alternative holiday where this is practicable. We will only cancel your holiday within 12 weeks of your departure date for reasons beyond our control such as those listed in condition 9.

If we cancel your holiday for reasons such as those listed in condition 9 our only liability to you will be to refund promptly all monies previously paid by you to us in respect of the holiday. If we cancel for reasons for which we are to blame we will, where required under the regulations, pay you compensation.

Compensation payments do not apply where changes have been forced on us by reason of war or threat of war, riots, civil strife, terrorist act, industrial disputes, nuclear and natural disasters, adverse weather conditions, endemic health risks, unavoidable technical problems to transport or the closure or congestion of ports or similar events beyond our control. Where we are obliged to make major changes to your holiday after it has begun we shall use our best endeavours to provide you with alternative arrangements and, where we are required to do so under the regulations, compensate you for the difference between the services originally agreed and the services actually provided.

In accordance with EU Regulations 2111/2005 we are required to advise you of the actual carrier operating your flight/connecting flight/ transfer. We do this by listing carriers to be used or likely to be used as follows: Air Canada, Air France, Air New Zealand, Air Transat, American Airlines, British Airways, British Midland, Cathay Pacific, Continental Airlines, Delta, Emirates, KLM, Lufthansa, Malaysian Airlines, Qantas, SAA, Singapore Airlines, TAP, Teal Air, Thomas Cook Airlines, United Airlines, Virgin Atlantic, Virgin Blue, Etihad, Air Paraguay, Tam Airlines and WestJet. Any changes to the actual airline after you have received your tickets will be notified to you as soon as possible and in all cases at check-in or at the boarding gate. Such a change is deemed to be a minor change.

11. CANCELLATION OF BOOKING BY CUSTOMER You may cancel your holiday booking at any time. Cancellation may be in respect of all or merely one or more members of the party. We will only effect the cancellation upon written or verbal notice by the person who made the booking. We recommend that you make the cancellation by email or telephone. If you cancel by telephone, please ask for the name of the person you speak to. If you decide to cancel in writing, please obtain proof of delivery. To compensate us for the risk that we might not be able to resell all or any part of the cancelled holiday we shall be entitled to impose a charge as shown below:

The ‘cost of holiday’ for these purposes does not include Holiday cover premiums; these will automatically be forfeited in the event of a cancellation. In the case of amended bookings, the above conditions will apply to the earliest date of either the original booking or the amended booking.

Cancellation charges for airline travel, cruises and certain other services booked in connection with these holidays, may vary from the above and from company to company – these are available on request. If the reason for the cancellation falls within the terms of your Holiday cover policy you may be able to recover the cancellation charge from the Holiday cover company.

12. CUSTOMER COMPLAINTS AND PROBLEMS If you have a complaint about any component of your holiday you should report that complaint immediately to the supplier of the service concerned. If you are unable to resolve the problem you should contact us using the telephone number which will be provided to you prior to departure and we will use our best endeavours to help you. If a medical or other emergency arises during the holiday please follow the directions or recommendations set out in your Holiday cover policy. If the policy does not apply to the situation which has arisen you may contact us on the telephone number referred to above and we will try to help. We can also offer you ABTA’s scheme for the resolution of disputes which is approved by the Chartered

Trading Standards Institute. If we can’t resolve your complaint, go to www.abta.com to use ABTA’s simple procedure.

13. BROCHURE DESCRIPTIONS The Club has made every effort to ensure that the descriptions and all other information in this brochure is accurate and to ensure that information held on file is up-to-date and correct. However, members should be aware that circumstances may change. Accordingly, we reserve the right to change any of the services and facilities or other information described or given in this brochure before you enter into a binding contract with us. We will notify you of these changes on your booking confirmation. If suppliers notify us of important changes after you have booked but before your departure date every effort will be made to ensure that you are informed of them before you travel.

Members are subject to the conditions of carriage of the airline companies and local suppliers which are available upon request from our office.

The Club will not be responsible for refreshments/meals and overnight accommodation as a result of a delay experienced at the outward or homeward airports of departure. We strongly recommend that the appropriate holiday cover is taken out to cover such eventualities.

14. OUR RESPONSIBILITY FOR YOUR HOLIDAY We accept responsibility for the acts and omissions of our employees, agents and suppliers (provided of course that such acts or omissions are within the scope of or in the course of their employment or duties) and we will, where required under the regulations, compensate you in the event that the holiday which we are contractually obliged to provide is not of a reasonable standard. However, we limit our liability to you in accordance with the following provisions:

i. We accept no liability where the failures which occur in the performance of the contract:

a) are the fault of yourself, some other member of your party or some third party unconnected with the provision of the services contracted for;

or

b) are due to unusual or unforeseen circumstances beyond the control of the Club, its agents or suppliers and which could not have been avoided even if all due care had been exercised or to an event which the Club, its agents or suppliers could not, even with all due care, have foreseen or forestalled.

ii. we limit our liability to you in accordance with the provisions of the 1974 Athens Convention on carriage by sea; the 1999 Montreal Convention on carriage by air; the 1962 Paris Convention on the liability of hotel keepers and the 1961 Berne Convention on carriage by rail;

iii. where we are liable to pay compensation this will be subject to a maximum amount equivalent to twice the cost of your holiday and directly attributable expenses.

This maximum applies when you have derived no enjoyment whatsoever from your holiday. In other circumstances we will pay you such lower sum as is reasonable, taking into account all the circumstances, in particular the extent to which your holiday was affected. This limitation shall not apply where the failure in performance of the contract has resulted in death or personal injury.

Where the cause of failure in the performance of the contract is the acts or omissions of our agents or suppliers our acceptance of liability is subject to you and your party members assigning to us your rights against them and giving us your co-operation in any legal action which we may take against them.

Under EU law (Regulation 261/2004) you have rights in some circumstances to refunds and/or compensation from your airline in cases of denied boarding, cancellation or delay to flights. Full details of these rights will be published at EU airports and will be available from airlines. However reimbursement in such cases will not automatically entitle you to a refund of your holiday cost from us. Your right to a refund and/or compensation from us is set out in clause 9. If any payments to you are due from us, any payment made to you by the airline will be deducted from this amount. If your airline does not comply with these rules you should complain to the Civil Aviation Authority on 020 7240 6061 www.caa.co.uk.

15. PASSPORT, VISA AND IMMIGRATION REQUIREMENTS Your specific passport and visa requirements, and other immigration requirements are your responsibility and you should confirm these with the relevant Embassies and/or Consulates. We do not accept any responsibility if you cannot travel because you have not complied with any passport, visa or immigration requirements.

16. EXCURSIONS Excursions or other tours that you may choose to book or pay for whilst you are on holiday are not part of your package holiday provided by us. For any excursion or other tour that you book, your contract will be with the operator of the excursion or tour and not with the Club. We are not responsible for the

provision of the excursion or tour or for anything that happens during the course of its provision by the operator.

17. PRICES The holiday price as quoted at the time of booking, at which time your deposit will be taken, will be confirmed as definite, subject to surcharges as detailed below.

Prices shown on our website and in our brochure, which make up the inclusive cost quoted on our final invoice, are based on special contract rates. Verbal and website quotations will be regarded as provisional until confirmed in writing on your confirmation invoice. In the unlikely event of an administrative error resulting in incorrect prices being displayed in the brochure or on the website, we reserve the right to correct the price. Offers are not combinable unless expressly stated and may be withdrawn at any time. We have no control or jurisdiction over prices that may be changed at the destination for the same or similar services and can accept no responsibility or liability if these differ from those quoted therein.

All prices are indicated for guidance only. The holiday price that we confirm to you in writing at the time of booking is the price including increases or reductions that you will pay.

18. ALTERNATIVE ATOL HOLDER AND ASSIGNMENT OF ATOL CLAIMS We will provide you with the services listed on the ATOL Certificate (or a suitable alternative). In some cases, where we aren’t able to do so for reasons of insolvency, an alternative ATOL holder may provide you with the services you have bought or a suitable alternative (at no extra cost to you). You agree to accept that in those circumstances the alternative ATOL holder will perform those obligations and you agree to pay any money outstanding to be paid by you under your contract to that alternative ATOL holder. However, you also agree that in some cases it will not be possible to appoint an alternative ATOL holder, in which case you will be entitled to make a claim under the ATOL scheme (or your credit card issuer where applicable). If we are unable to provide the services listed on your ATOL Certificate (or a suitable alternative, through an alternative ATOL holder or otherwise) for reasons of insolvency, the Trustees of the Air Travel Trust may make a payment to (or confer a benefit on) you under the ATOL scheme. You agree that in return for such a payment or benefit you assign absolutely to those Trustees any claims which you have or may have arising out of or relating to the non-provision of the services, including any claim against us, the travel agent (or your credit card issuer where applicable). You also agree that any such claims may be re-assigned to another body, if that other body has paid sums you have claimed under the ATOL scheme.

19. GOVERNING LAW All matters arising from this contract shall be governed by English law and the jurisdiction of the English courts. You may however, choose the law and jurisdiction of Scotland or Northern Ireland if you live there and wish to do so.
