SONY XPERIA™ Z REVIEW GUIDE

experience the best of Sony in a smartphone Xperia™ Z

Xperia™ Z The best of Sony in a smartphone Introducing the precision engineered full HD smartphone Xperia Z delivers a premium smartphone experience that combines cutting edge specifications and the best of Sony’s technology with One-touch connectivity and amazing entertainment.

Xperia Z will launch globally in calendar Q1 2013. This guide will take you through the key user benefits in order for you to make a full review of the capabilities of Xperia Z.

1. A screen as impressive as HDTV

• Sony mobile screens are the product of years of expertise from our BRAVIA® TV engineers, to bring the same experience you’d expect from a top quality HDTV. The 5” 1080 x 1920 full HD display is the world’s sharpest* (it features a pixel density of 443 ppi) and delivers an exceptionally bright and crisp viewing experience even in sunlight. The Reality Display with Mobile BRAVIA® Engine 2 uses the same contrast enhancement technology as the latest BRAVIA® TVs.

• Demo: Start playing the “Xperia HD Landscapes” video (preloaded on Xperia Z). Connect high quality headphones or audio system to the phone. Enjoy an amazing viewing experience – high quality screen with high quality sound to create a truly immersive experience.

• Demo: Challenge the Xperia Z to any other phone in a head-to-head test. Open up the same web page screenshot on both phones. Compare the phones side-by-side. Zoom into details of the web page which will show the superior quality of the Xperia Z full HD screen

2. Sleek and durable design with the highest level of water and dust resistance

• Xperia Z is an exceptionally durable smartphone despite its slim 7.9mm body and includes durable tempered glass and anti-shatter films on the front and back, as well as a tough skeleton frame built from glass fibre polyamide. It has the highest levels of dust and water resistance (IP55 and IP57)** of any smartphone* meaning it can handle whatever life throws at it.

• Demo: Close all ports and covers (USB and sound). Put your Xperia Z in freshwater (max 1 meter, max duration 30 min) and bring on the challenge. Let a friend call or text you, and you’ll hear your phone ringing or text being delivered from under water.

• Demo: The phone supports wet finger tracking, which makes it possible for you to pick up calls and navigate on the screen. Wet your fingers and navigate the smartphone menu.

3. Best photos & videos in any conditions with Exmor RS for mobile, HDR video, Superior Auto and noise reduction

• The 13mp camera is built with the same components and expertise as leading Sony digital cameras - it features the world’s first image sensor with HDR (High Dynamic Range) video for smartphones* and Exmor RS for mobile. It’s imaging technology used to capture clear pictures against strong backlight for photo and video, so users can take beautifully sharp stills and movies regardless of light conditions.

• The new Superior Auto mode on Xperia Z is optimised for 36 different scenes; including

HDR and noise reduction when needed. Adopting this technology allows us to achieve amazing results in the most challenging light conditions and reproduce objects in more vivid colour - providing freedom and choice to always ensure the best shots.

• Demo: Take any phone and take a picture where the object is in bright sunlight. Do the same action with Xperia Z and notice the difference.

4. The magic touch to entertainment

• Xperia Z brings a fast and easy way to wirelessly share music and photos. One-touch mirroring with NFC technology lets you easily see content on your phone, on your TV. Just touch your phone to your BRAVIA® remote control and watch your photo or music pop up on the TV screen. No cables, no buttons, no confusion.

• Demo: For screen mirroring on a non NFC-enabled BRAVIA TV, Xperia Z connects via WiFi Direct (establish the Screen Mirroring connection between the phone and a TV with the Netgear PTV3000 adapter***) or via a standard HDMI cable using a MHL adapter***. With live streaming in full HD, what looks great on your LTE mobile looks just as great on your HDTV.

• Demo: Turn on NFC on your Xperia Z and another NFC enabled smartphone. Select an image in the Album app on your Xperia Z and unlock the homescreen on your friend’s Xperia smartphone. Hold the two phones back to back until you are prompted to confirm the image transfer. Confirm the transfer and see your image being sent to your friend’s Xperia smartphone.

• Demo: Turn on NFC on your Xperia Z, start your music and with One-touch listening share your music on NFC enabled Sony speakers.

5. Super fast performance with LTE and the Snapdragon™ S4 Pro quad-core processor

• The Snapdragon™ S4 Pro quad-core 1.5 Ghz processor with 2GB RAM gives super-fast performance and unparalleled graphics. But Xperia Z is also made to use the battery wisely. Because the four cores are powered up and down as required, they only use the minimum power needed to complete a task.

• With LTE you download at very high speeds with no glitch.

• Demo: Download blockbuster movies and hit TV shows from Video Unlimited**** or try out one of the pre-installed games and experience silky smooth playback.

6. Significantly improve battery life with Battery STAMINA mode

• Smartphones use a lot of power, even when you’re not actively using them. All those apps that you’ve had open are still running in the background, using unnecessary battery. Battery STAMINA mode saves you wasted battery drain by recognizing when your display is off and turning off functions you don’t need, while keeping the notifications you want. As soon as you touch the screen and wake up your phone, everything is up and running again.

• With Battery STAMINA mode, Wi-Fi and data traffic are disabled during standby, but you still receive incoming calls, texts, and alarms. And since everyone has different needs, you can easily customise which apps you want to receive push notifications from even in standby mode. Facebook notifications on or off? It’s up to you.

• Demo: Go to Settings / Power Management and activate Battery STAMINA Mode
