What will you learn and do at A4LPC?
The Area 4 Venturing leadership and Planning Conference is a fun orientation experience for
all Venturing Officers and Advisors in Councils and for all who want to learn to serve beyond
the crew.
This is your chance to get to know Area and Council officers while you play, train and plan
with them. Youth and adults will have their own orientation sessions and planning for the
rest of the 20162017 year and beyond will begin. Learn what is happening at WorldFest this
year. Come so we can explore your ideas and get your input on what you want to see at
WorldFest! Is your council putting on training? Come and learn how to better serve them.
Learn what roles for youth leadership exist at the District and Council levels and how you
can help strengthen Venturing in Area 4 for all of us.

Opportunities
■ Sharing with other venturing officers from neighboring councils and the national council
■ participate in planning for WorldFest 2017 ■ Discover what kind of leader you can be ■ Participate in an open forum of youth ■ participate in an adult round table discussion ■ Participate in a Court of Honor
Takeaways ● Project management training completion (for those that choose that track)
● One page plans for Administration, Communication and Program in your council.
Saturday evening fun How long has it been since you roller skated? Let’s go and find out how you do at Lind Arena Skate Center in Zanesville ( http://www.lindarena.com ). Afterward, we will enjoy ice cream in December at Tom’s Ice Cream Bowl ( https://www.tomsicecreambowl.com ) a nearly 60 year tradition and rated #1 of 10 great places in America to get a “scoop” by USA Today back in 1998.
Why youth should attend from your council
Attendance at the Area 4 Leadership and Planning Conference will provide youth from your crews with a foundation in the planning and leadership skills necessary to operate a Venturing Officer's Association in your council, and also instill in them the confidence that they are capable of being a VOA officer. Through these trained youth operating a VOA your older youth program offering will increase through the use of volunteers, minimizing the impact upon the professional staff while you attract increased youth involvement and also increase the pool of trained and enthusiastic volunteers available to help operate programming you your Council.
Our motto is Lead the Adventure and our task is to make sure youth in our Area do just that. Trained Council Officers will be better for your council and you will see a benefit at the very next VOA meeting.
Learn what it means to meet less and do more . Learn to sustain Venturing not only needs the area, but needs councils to act together to leverage interest and attendance to make your events a success.
Make sure your council is represented. Go to Area4.CRVenturing.org to see the councils in our area, a calendar of our activities and the Area 4 officers who represent you. Your council has a voice on the National Council only if you have a Council Venturing President that joins the Area VOA regularly on our conference calls.
Who should attend
Central Region Area 4 Venturing Committee and VOA & All Area Council Committees and VOAs and all others looking to grow Venturing
■ Area Venturing President and Vice Presidents and their Advisors ■ Council Venturing President and Vice Presidents and their Advisors ■ All members of Council Venturing Committees ■ All members of Councils wanting to learn more about Council and Area Venturing
Operations ■ Interested youth and adult venturers
What if we do not have a Council Venturing Officers Association?
Perfect, this is for you. If you do not have a Council VOA and want to learn more, please attend. Bring 4 or 5 interested Venturing youth who can meet other Council and Area youth leadership and can help build a VOA when you get home. Bring the adults who might be able to advise them. You will learn that to have a Council VOA you need only a youth spokesperson for the council and a Volunteer Advisor. That youth spokesperson can be the voice on the Area VOA acting as Council Venturing President until you have a more formally selected person. These interim Council Venturing Presidents are a perfect way to start to build a full VOA.
Are Professional Staff Advisors invited? Absolutely. The professional Staff Advisor completes the key 3 which includes the Council Venturing President, the VOA Advisor. Some councils have a separate Venturing Chairman and / or Assistant Council Commissioner for Venturing. All are welcome.
