3. New Sweden a. Swedes trespassed on Dutch lands to establish

heir settlement between 1638-1655b. 1655 Dutch forces led by Peter Stuyvesant

ended the Swedes rule and absorbed the Colony into New Amsterdam

c. 1664 Charles II removed the Dutch from New Netherlands and gave his Brother the Duke of York the Colony
