VIDEO FIBER INSPECTION PROBE – FIP-400

It’s a known fact: optical network problems are often caused by dirty and/or damagedconnectors. Using a fiber inspection probe to ensure connectors/adapters are clean and exemptof any defect is where accurate testing starts.

Thanks to EXFO’s FIP-400 Fiber Inspection Probe, checking connectors and other fiberterminations for polish quality and cleanliness has never been easier. Benefit from the bestoptical resolution in the industry and see scratches and dirt particles as small as 1 µm.

INSPECTION

Using an FIP is the safest way to inspect a connector since it protects your eyes from live fiber signals. NEVER look directly into a live fiber or connector, asthe light signal can be very harmful to your eyes.

Specific adapters are needed to properly inspect different connectors (1.25 mm, 2.5 mm, APC, UPC and multifiber). Make sure that the adapter is wellcleaned before use.

Focus and magnification may be adjusted using controls.

Dirty connector. This connector wascleaned using alcoholthat has not been driedproperly.

FIBER-OPTIC ADAPTERS

These fiber-optic adapters (FOAs) can be used with all of EXFO’s portable power meters toprecisely align the ferrule end with the detector when performing optical measurements.

These adapters are used for the calibration of our handheld products and have a larger radiusin order to have easier access for cleaning.

EXFO’s universal interface (EUI) is designed to easily interchange one connector type foranother. It is compatible with all common connectors with angled (APC/EA) or non-angled (UPC/EI) polishing. Simply push and turn to separate the removable part from thefixed baseplate. The ferrule is then easily accessed and cleaned, ensuring excellent opticalconditions.

The BFA-3000 Universal Bare Fiber Adapter is an essential accessory for performing fast,accurate and repeatable power measurements on non-connectorized fiber or components. BARE FIBER TESTER – GP-3018 DIVOT™

The GP-3018 lets you test cleaved or non-cleaved fiber without having to terminate the fiber.When inserted into the Divot™, the bare fiber tester goes through a cartridge filled with anoptical coupling compound. The compound is applied to the end of the fiber as it passesthrough the cartridge, then enters into a custom ferrule that has a small divot on the end. The divot creates a small cavity at the end of the ferrule, retaining the optical couplingcompound from the inserted bare fiber end. The bare fiber is then mated to a precisely alignedferrule on the patch cable, resulting in a quick, low-loss connection suitable for most testingapplications.
