Prime to £1079 & 181ppk Cull cows to £963 & 130ppk Steers to £1170 Heifers to £845

Our final TB sale of the year saw a select entry of something for everyone sell in front of a keen line up of buyers resulting

in a pleasing trade all round. Just ten beasts over the bridge saw prime handyweighted heifers from Messrs Bottor Rock

Farms of Bovey Tracey sell to 181 & 171ppk with the best totalling £1079. Cull cows were headed by Brian Vallance &

family of Bickington selling a shapely Limousin at 130ppk and at 744kgs totalled £963 whilst other South Devon & Limousin

cows from the same home sold readily to 109,108 & 105ppk or £866, £836 & £770 and best of the dairy bred cows sold to 95ppk and £677 for a straight out the parlour Friesian type from Dan & Helen Partridge of Dunsford.

Store cattle met with another rise in trade following on from November’s strong sale with plenty of buying power ringside.

Barry Quant topped the sale with a tremendous 19 month old Limousin cross bullock that realised £1170 whilst his smaller

younger sort at 16 month achieved £895. The Tooze family of Paignton replicated their success at the previous months

sale when Gemma sold a trio of powerful named sire Angus’ at £1150 followed by father Michael with four carrying the

same comments at £1070 as well as pairs of Lim & SD x steers at £995 & £985 and others from the family sold at £920.

Baulch Partnership of North Tawton parted with a trio of strong Hereford x steers at £980 as well as Friesian steers at

£580, Colin & Matt Wrayford of Bickington sold bunches of predominantly Fleckvieh x steers to a top of £825 with others

£750 and best of their Friesians peaked at £595, Broom & Son of Cullompton saw their best Lim x steer sell at £710 and

bunch of Friesian steers attain £575. Heifers lacked any real strength but Baulch Partnership sold a single Blue heifer well

at £845 as GJ & CA Mock of Burrington sold bunches of heifers at £765 for Blues and £570 for Limousins and Colin &

Matt Wrayford saw their best females sell to £650. Some harder farmed steers and heifers from £295 to £525, but always

plenty of bidders for the varying quality forward.

Our next ‘Orange Market’ sale of cattle from TB restricted holding at Exeter will be held on Tuesday 21st January 2019 with entries for licensing closing on Tuesday 14th January.
