New Data Centre Build

When this large metropolitan municipality need a new data centre for their operations they appointed Fusion following a competitive tender process. Fusion was handed a ‘white space’ site by the builder, then, working closely with the Director of Information Technology to define requirements, Fusion came up with an innovative design to maximise the new data centre’s efficiency and reliability.

The legal division of this large business advisory had a problem. A decade of growth and rapidly increasing information requirements had outstripped the ability of its data centre to grow with the business. Fusion undertook a comprehensive review of the existing facilities and concluded the existing infrastructure housing critical equipment was inefficient and outdated.

The Bunker is a critical piece of transport infrastructure containing a VicTrack data centre which controls thousands of kilometres of train track in a major metropolitan area.

Unfortunately the centre was running an outdated cooling system, meaning it ran the risk of operations and the transport system it supported grinding to a halt in unfavourable conditions.

Fusion’s Comprehensive Review of critical infrastructure identified system inadequacies, insufficient redundancy and an outdated design resulting in unnecessarily high power bills. Setting right to work, Fusion:

RESULTFusion’s deployment of a new Precision Cooling system increased the reliability of the data centre and minimised the potential for disruption to a core public transport system. All of Fusion’s work was performed without any interruption of services, utilising a customised temporary cooling solution during the transfer of deployment period.

Target’s National Store Support Office is a large distribution centre in Geelong which supports 183 department stores nationwide. The data centre supporting this business needs to be highly reliable and effective for the centre to achieve its mission, unfortunately its power systems were relying on an ageing 60kVAUPSsystem.

In consultation with Target’s IT operations staff, Fusion identified the data centre’s UPS system urgently need replacing. Fusion’s UPS Installation service included:
