EXECUTIVE SUMMARYThe project involved is to assess the impact of various projects undertaken by SCAN INDIA in the year 2013. Under the guidance of the organizational mentors, I understood as to how SCAN INDIA took up various projects and implemented them. In 2013, their main projects were Vocational Training Programme and Micro Credit Programme.Training Programs are being conducted in the areas of Computer fundamentals, Tailoring and Accounting basics through Johnson Institute of Vocational Training (JIVT), the training wing of SCAN INDIA. Micro Credits in the form of tailoring machines were given to women who learned tailoring through JIVT. Site visits are made and interaction is done with the students, management and the micro credit beneficiaries to assess the impact of the projects and to understand the challenges being faced in undertaking those projects.Besides this, a sub-project related to case study preparation on Micro Credit Programme is done. Inputs are taken from the beneficiaries of Micro Credits and the management of organization as to how the implementation was done, need of the micro credits and usefulness of the programme. It was a learning experience of interacting with the underprivileged and their getting to know about their livelihoods.Apart from these, annual report preparation and documentation of various projects undertaken by the organization till date is also done. Various awareness programmes conducted by SCAN INDIA is studied and their effects on the community is understood. SCAN INDIA has done several programmes to increase the awareness among underprivileged communities about health care, leadership development, sustainable livelihood and societal development.
