30 highly innovative & entrepreneurial participants

Executive MBA in Management of Technology - MoT

~ Targeting Entrepreneurship & Innovation ~

Objectives

• To develop and stimulate entrepreneurship and intrapreneurship competencies;

• To ensure success in innovation by fostering a multidisciplinary approach to the conception, industrialization and commercialization of products or services;

• To provide insights into the constraints and interactions within the technological, business, international and social environments

Program

The program is made up of three distinctive but complementary parts: 1. Training at both the University of Lausanne - HEC and the Ecole Polytechnique

Fédérale of Lausanne, (September 2010 to May 2011)

2. Study Trip to China (mid June – early July 2011)

3. Practical work within a company (August to November 2011)

The training in Lausanne focuses on:

• Management and Entrepreneurship

• Technology and Innovation Deployment The teaching is based on a concrete, pragmatic approach with extensive use of case studies. It also includes group work for the conception, development and commercialization of new products, and more particularly the creation and growth of new ventures by teams. The study trip and training period in China, with top universities provides a perspective for doing business in one of the fastest growing area in the world. The practical part of the program consists of project work, which can be performed in pairs, within a corporation or a new venture. The individual or the pair, usually made up of an engineer and a manager, conducts a new venture project that must be of value to the hosting entity or to potential investors.

MoT Graduates view “The MoT has allowed me to discover the joy of entrepreneurship!!! Now, I can’t stop anymore... I have fun, I have the will and, thanks to the MoT, I have the tools.” Jean-Pierre Rosat Recipient of the Swiss Technology Award, Red Herring Top 100 European Venture “The MoT awakens and empowers the entrepreneur or intrapreneur that sleeps within you.” Sylvie Lurot Product Manager Europe & Central Asia, Medtronic “MoT is more than information and knowledge: it’s a whole attitude! The future will show if I am able to live up to the spirit of an entrepreneur/intrapreneur. I certainly like the idea and the challenge!” Robert Herzog Project Engineer, CERN “The MoT does not only provide appropriate tools to tackle business and technological problems, but it is also a mind-blowing experience that transforms one’s perspective to be able to cope with the tough challenges of entrepreneurship.” Christine Deuschel VP Portfolio & Project Management, Debiopharm “The MoT inspires the dream of creating a start up based on a crazy idea, but prepares you for a lasting and successful love affair rather than a short, rose-coloured romance.” Gary Heath VP Marketing & Product Management, Messer Eutectic Castolin “Thanks to the MoT program, I was able to launch two start-ups, HTceramix SA developing Solid Oxide Fuel Cells and VHF-Technologies SA (Flexcell) commercializing flexible solar cells.” Alexandre Closset Founder and Serial Entrepreneur

Top Executives view “We are looking forward to funding the next generation of entrepreneurs who will recognize major market opportunities enabled by technology. We hope that many of them will have the competencies provided by programs such as the MoT. That will make our job much easier!” Neil Rimer General Partner, Index Ventures “Innovation and entrepreneurship are key components in today’s increasingly competitive world. Integrating these elements in a pragmatic and dynamic approach, the MoT program has captured the essence of what business is all about.” Daniel Borel Co-founder & Member of the Board, Logitech “The MoT program continues to provide exceptional graduates who combine technology, strategy and market-oriented skills – a must in today’s business world. We already have many MoT alumni in our team, and hope to continue the trend.” Kelly Richdale VP International Sales, L-1 Identity Solutions “In the high-tech and biotech domains, if top executives fail, it is not due to a lack of competences in technical matters, but to weaknesses in their vision and leadership or a wrong set of values. The MoT program brings the necessary lifelong competences in this respect.” Thierry de Preux Senior Partner, Korn/Ferry International “With its focus on entrepreneurship and intrapreneurship, the MoT provides the kind of education required for winning in a highly competitive world.” Ernesto Bertarelli Former CEO of Serono, Winner of America’s Cup “MoT provides a unique blend of management, technology and entrepreneurship for the future leaders of high-technology enterprises.” William George Former Chairman & CEO, Medtronic
