Didier joined EATON in May 2014 and is based at EATON’s World Headquarters in Dublin, Ireland. Prior to joining EATON, Didier was Senior Director and Managing Counsel of the Strategic Intellectual Property Transactions and Counseling Team of HP in Palo Alto, California. In that role, he advised HP’s top management and several Global Business Units, including HP Servers, HP Software and HP Cloud Computing, and he led a team of highly specialised IP attorneys supporting these Global Business Units worldwide. Didier has represented HP as lead IP attorney in multi-billion dollar acquisitions and commercial contracts, including with large corporations such as Intel, Microsoft, Alcatel-Lucent and British Telecom. Didier started his career at HP in 2002 at HP Labs Europe in Bristol, England, where he worked for four years on R&D contracts, EU funding programs and tech transactions before relocating to France to assist HP’s General Counsel in EMEA. After six years in Paris, Didier moved to HP’s Headquarters in California to assist HP’s top management, lead the US, EMEA and APAC IP Transactions teams and oversee key initiatives including cloud-related acquisitions, and offensive patent enforcement and licensing programs. Prior to joining HP, Didier was a senior associate attorney in the International Patent Prosecution and Litigation Practices of Baker Botts LLP in Houston and London, where his primary role was focused on the representation of IT companies. Didier has also served as the Corporate Chief Patent Counsel for the Swatch Group in Switzerland where he was engaged in a large number of anti-counterfeiting operations when Swatch moved into a fashion business model. From 1993 to 2001, he lectured on issues of European patent law and management of intellectual property assets, and has also trained candidates for the European Patent Attorney Qualification Exam. Didier is regularly asked to speak at seminars and conferences in Europe on subjects such as patents, trade secret, open source and IP assets management. Didier is a qualified European Patent Attorney and a French Intellectual Property Counselor. Didier received his Law degree from the Center for International Intellectual Property Studies at the Robert Schuman University in Strasbourg specializing in IP law, EU competition law, and French contract law. He also studied English contract law at the University of London. He also holds an MS in Material Science and a BS in Mechanical Engineering. Didier trained at the Weinstein law firm in Paris, and he also served in a special bureau of the French Ministry of Defense in Paris. Didier attended last year one of the executive programmes of the UCD Graduate Business School in Dublin where he graduated in Strategy.
