Welcome to Executive Leadership Summit October 2017

Stephen Bryant Managing Director, HIMSS UK & HIMSS Europe

In addition, the newly appointed President and CEO of HIMSS Harold Wolf will speak about the strategic di-rection HIMSS will take in the coming years. Also join-ing us will be HIMSS’ President & CEO Emeritus Ste-phen Lieber, who recently retired from his role after 17 years.

I would like to thank our sponsors – without whom these events would not be possible. They come with a wealth of experience and specialist expertise in driving and delivering IT solutions, and will continue to play a key role in tomorrow‘s NHS.

I hope you find the October 2017 Executive Leadership Summit insightful and educational.

Stephen Bryant

Managing Director, HIMSS UK and HIMSS Europe

It gives me great pleasure to welcome you to the October 2017 Executive Leadership Summit. This forum is for leaders from across the health sys-tem to explore the latest developments in healthcare IT – namely, how digital strategy and real-word implementation is meeting challenges across the NHS. Our delegates are CIOs and CCIOs in the NHS and leaders from NHS England and NHS Digital. Together, they navigate a packed agenda de-signed to maximise learning opportunities and ignite debate around the most important issues facing healthcare IT. This kind of face-to-face engagement is powerful and can galvanize sig-nificant improvements within organisations. We are honoured to kick off the summit with a keynote address from Matthew Swindells, Na-tional Director: Commissioning Operations and Information, NHS England, who will give attendees an update on NHS IT strategy. This will be followed by a workshop on measuring digital maturity with HIMSS Analytics, including an ex-ploration of the globally-renowned EMR Adop-tion Model (EMRAM) and Continuity of Care Ma-turity Model (CCMM) measurement tools, with John Rayner, Regional Director, HIMSS Analytics. Rachel Dunscombe, CEO of the NHS Digital Acad-emy and newly appointed chair of the HIMSS UK Advisory Board will give a briefing on the plans for the new academy. This will be followed by a session by Peter Knight, Executive Director, Ox-ford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, on the trust’s journey to Global Digital Exemplar status.

The Executive Leadership Summit is hosted by HIMSS UK – an adviser and thought leader in health IT transformation. We provide the platforms, tools and engage-ment opportunities for health and care profes-sionals to learn, network and share best practice around delivering improved patient outcomes and efficiencies through technology and data. We run three events throughout the year: our major annual conference and exhibition, UK e-Health Week – the only major conference sup-ported by NHS England and NHS Digital, Execu-tive Leadership Summit – one day events for health IT leaders in the NHS and supplier com-munity, and our regional offering, Health Insights.

HIMSS UK is part of HIMSS - a global, cause-based organisation focused on transforming healthcare through IT and data. Founded in 1961, HIMSS encompasses more than 64,000 members, 640 com-panies and over one million health IT influencers who drive innovation across the world.

HIMSS engages with healthcare professionals in more than 30 countries. This includes working with health departments and ministries of health to as-sess IT capabilities of their health systems, leading educational programs for physicians, nurses, IT professionals and others to expand their knowledge of health IT; and conducting benchmarking of IT adoption and maturity to help health organisations develop a roadmap to transformation.

HIMSS Analytics

Uniquely positioned at the intersection of data and insight, HIMSS’ research and analytics arm, HIMSS Analytics, is a global healthcare IT market intelligence, research and standards organisation that collects, analyses and distributes essential health IT data. A roadmap for effective EMR adoption and usage HIMSS Analytics has created the EMR Adoption Model (EMRAM), an eight-stage model that allows healthcare organisations to track progress against other similar organisations around Europe and across the world. The maturity model measures the adoption and utilisation of EMR functions required to achieve a paperless environment that harness technology to support optimised patient care.

A strategic framework to guide continuity of care implementation Created to help optimise outcomes for health system and patient alike, the Continuity of Care Maturity Model (CCMM) outlines the progressive capabilities healthcare organisations need to possess in order to coordinate patient care across a range of care sites and providers. This global maturity model addresses the convergence of interoperability, information exchange, care coordination, patient engagement and analytics with the ultimate goal of holistic individual and population health management.

……………………………………………. “In two years Global Digital Exemplars will be expected to operate at a level of digital maturity equivalent to HIMSS’ EMRAM level 7”

Will Smart, Chief Information Officer for Health and Social Care ………………………………………………………….

We do this through a range of digital health products and solutions, with 100+ years of healthcare experience and over 40 years as an NHS supplier.
