Oh my, how I adore this show! The music, the costumes, the poignant story – it’s such a remarkable piece of musical theatre. In this crazy, chaotic world of ours, Dreamgirls is a beautiful ESCAPE! And, don’t we need it? Just sit back and enjoy every breath-taking, fun moment.

Speaking of fun, I hope you’ve made plans to join RMTC this summer for TWO larger-than-life mainstage shows at the Dorothy Jemison Day Theater. Fiddler on the Roof is up first in the month of June. There are few shows as perfect in their composition and universal ap-peal than this one. Don’t miss out on the tradition! Then, in July, we’ll dance into the DJD with Disney’s Newsies. This mu-sical mirrors the hit film almost exactly with big dance numbers and power-ful songs as the little guy fights for his place in the world. You’re gonna leave inspired!

RMTC is continually expanding our reach and impact in the Birmingham community – and even the state of Alabama. But, this growth must be fueled with fiscal stability and long-term sustainability. To that end, RMTC has established a planned giving initiative named for an incredible woman, Carolyn King, who gave generously to RMTC during her lifetime and also planned for those gifts to continue past her time on earth. She was a blessing to so many and now serves as a shining example of dedication to the generations to come. The Society that bears her name is comprised of those who have included RMTC in a will retirement plan, charitable lead trust, charitable remainder trust, or life insurance policy that contributes to RMTC upon their passing. Won’t you join these donors in planning now for RMTC’s vital work into the future? Contact RMTC’s development office for more information. If you have made those plans, please let us know. We’d be grateful to include you in the Society!

After moving to Birmingham in fall of 2009, Stephen initially joined the RMTC team as an over hire painter in the summer of 2010.

Amy Rankin (Resident Costume Designer). I started sewing at an early age because everything I bought I had to alter. While climbing the corporate ladder, I continued to design and sell clothing and jewelry. I was offered a job to tour with an R&B artist, which led to 20+ years working in Wardrobe, touring the United States and internationally. It afforded me the opportunity to visit some great places and work with some awesome talent. In 2007, wanting to come off the road, I took on the challenge to costume Beauty and the Beast for RMTC. Over the ensuing years, I have cultivated my talents to evolve into the RMTC Resident Costume Designer.
