Separation of Powers and the System of Checks and Balances.-The separation of powers is a model for the governance of a state.With separate and independent powers and areas of responsibility so that the powers and areas of one branch are not in conflict.

-Checks and Balances are the counterbalancing influences by which an organization or system is regulated,typically those ensuring that political power is not concentrated in the hands of individuals or groups.

How do they protect the citizens-State agencies administer programs that help fulfill the executive branches responsibilities for the state of Georgia.

-Each agency is a specialized department that handles the operations of a specific category of government services,such as education or transportation.

Requirements for governor/lieutenant governor-To qualify for governor,a candidate must be at least 30 years old,a U.S. citizen for 15 years,and a Georgia resident for 6 years.The term of office is four years,with a total of two consecutive terms.He or she is elected by the citizens.There duties include suggesting new state programs, laws proposing the states budget and appointing members of the state board.

- The qualifications for lieutenant governor are identical to the governor.The term is also four years for lieutenant governor but they can run unlimited times.He or she is also voted on by the people but run on different tickets.There duties are being the governor if the governor dies but there main dutie is presiding over the Senate.

Each state department-Department of education certifies teachers and distributes funds for textbooks.

-Department of human resources provides assistance for aging,family and children's services,and mental health.

-Department of public safety enforces traffic laws,helps reduce crime and responds to man made disasters

-Department of transportations builds roads and bridges and provides transportation.

-Department of economic development supports economy through tourism,film,music,and etc.

-Department of natural resources helps conserve and protect natural resources.

Department of Education-Department of education helps the people by teaching kids how to read, white and etc,provides jobs for the people,and helps kids improve on their skills and life
