Executive Biographies

Eugene Gicheru, MDChief Executive OfficerDr. Gicheru graduated from the University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston where he received the SAEM Excellence in Emergency Medicine Award. He completed his medical internship and residency at Parkland Memorial Hospital/University of Texas Southwestern Medical School. Today, he is board certified in emergency medicine with additional advanced certifications in cardiac, trauma, and pediatric life support, and serves as attending emergency physician at Baylor University Medical Center in Dallas.

Dr. Gicheru is committed to community service which has included volunteer work as a Big Brother mentor and as a provider of quality medical care for the indigent population. He enjoys family time with his wife and two sons, travel, and electronic gizmos.

Lawrence Bean, MDManaging PartnerDr. Bean received his medical degree from the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas and completed his medical internship and residency at the prestigious and rigorous Parkland Memorial Hospital/University of Texas Southwestern Medical School. While completing his education, he was inducted into the Alpha Chi Honor Society and elected president of the Emergency Medicine Student Association. In 2000, he delivered the commencement address to graduates of the College of Science, University of Texas at Arlington. He is board certified in emergency medicine and a member of the American College of Emergency Physicians and the Urgent Care Association of America.

Before becoming a physician, Dr. Bean was a firefighter for 8 years and EMT instructor. Today, he is an attending emergency physician at Baylor University Medical Center in Dallas, one of the busiest Level 1 Trauma centers in the country. In his private life, he is a physician volunteer for Baptist Medical Missions International. He and his wife have four sons and one baby girl.

Shilpi Mittal, MDMedical DirectorDr. Mittal received her medical degree from Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College in India. After immigrating to the United States, she completed her medical internship at St. John Medical Center in Detroit and residency at Baptist-Lutheran Medical Center in Kansas City, Missouri. In addition to being a published author, she is board certified in family practice and is a member of the American Academy of Family Medicine and the Southwest Clinical Society of Family Physicians, among others.

Dr. Mittal practices full-time in an urgent care/primary care setting. She is married, the mother of two wonderful sons, and enjoys reading and gardening.

Justin L. SaundersRegional Business ConsultantJustin holds an MBA from The Cox School of Business at Southern Methodist University in Dallas, TX with additional education from the Harvard Business School Executive Education Program, the KPMG Executive Education Program, and the American Management Association. He is a results-driven executive with experience leading finance and accounting functions for organizations with international operations and revenue in excess of $200M. He specializes in financial and strategic planning and performance leadership.

Often sought out by senior decision-makers for advice, Justin is an energetic leader known for building a high-performing culture and creatively leveraging process improvements and accountability to achieve operational excellence. Mr. Saunders is a member of Financial

Executives International (FEI) and the board of Bill Me Game Fishing Apparel, LLC. In his private life, Justin enjoys spending time with his family, reading, and being outdoors.

Janet Barnes, RNClinic Operations DirectorJanet brings to this team extensive training and experience in occupational medicine and on-site health clinics where she has developed a richly deserved reputation for ensuring quality care and high practice standards. She holds an Associate Degree in Nursing and has been inducted into Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society in recognition of her academic achievements. She completed her critical care internship at Methodist Hospital of Dallas and holds certifications from the American Heart Association in stroke causes and care, basic life support instruction, and advanced cardiac life support. In addition, she currently holds certifications as a breath alcohol instructor, a DOT urine drug screen instructor, an occupational hearing conservationist (COHC), a medical review orders assistant, and has completed extensive OSHA training for industrial workplace safety.

Janet is a member of the Emergency Nurses Association and has worked in some of the busiest emergency departments in the Dallas Metroplex. She is married and has three beautiful children with whom she enjoys camping and family time.
