The Marin Municipal Water District is recruiting for a seasoned professional who will provide high-level administrative support and manage projects for this highly visible community oriented organization.

This is an excellent opportunity for a highly skilled, proactive problem solver with exceptional analytical skills, communication skills and meticulous attention to detail. The Executive Assistant will be relied upon for flexibility and foresight, while maintaining confidences related to high-level operations and productivity.

The ideal candidate will have experience supporting executive level positions. The ideal candidate will also demonstrate strong administrative skills using modern office equipment and software programs; the ability to efficiently manage time-sensitive and critical projects; problem solve; communicate effectively; work

independently and be able to manage changing priorities while completing multiple tasks and supporting the executive and being responsive to other district employees and stakeholders.

THE JOB:

This position is classified as confidential and will provide a wide variety of highly responsible, challenging and complex professional and confidential assistance to the General Manager and other senior staff as assigned. The incumbent will manage, direct and participate in projects and programs; provide sensitive and confidential administrative and secretarial support functions; performs challenging and complex duties in support of the General Manager in his/her interactions with elected officials, officials of other government agencies, District senior management, union officials, community stakeholder and the media. Typical duties may include but are not limited to the following. Please see job

Acts as confidential executive assistant to the General Manager; provides a wide

variety of clerical and administrative support; manages and participates in projects and programs located in the General Manager’s office;

Assists in the implementation and follow-up on Board decisions and requests as directed by the General Manager;

May supervise administrative support personnel who are assigned to work in various divisions providing support to division managers or department managers;

Gathers and analyzes data on a variety of administrative and policy matters; develops recommendations and prepares and presents related reports;

Researches and compiles data for special reports; collects and assembles data and background materials for a variety of reports, charts, spreadsheets and related documents;

Composes, proofreads and edits a wide variety of documents and correspondence; Attends Board of Director, committee and related meetings when necessary; Provides assistance to the Board as needed; Receives and screens visitors and telephone calls, providing information and

handling issues that may require sensitivity and use of sound, independent judgment and the knowledge and interpretation of the District's rules, regulations, policies and ongoing projects; responds to requests for information and complaints, refers matters to appropriate District staff and/or takes or recommends action to resolve the request or complaint;

Tracks, to resolution, complex customer complaints or expressed concerns; Schedules appointments; prepares and keeps meeting calendars; Performs related duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

In addition to the skills and attributes mentioned above, the ideal candidate will meet the following minimum qualifications:

Minimum of five years of increasingly responsible advanced clerical or administrative experience, at least two of which must have been at the executive level;

Minimum High School graduation or equivalent. Additional college course work related to secretarial or administrative duties is highly desirable.

The District offers an attractive compensation and benefits program. The salary range for this position is $8,080 - $9,803 per month, depending upon qualifications/experience.

Retirement: MMWD is a member of the California Public Employees Retirement System (CalPERS), which offers reciprocity between agencies in the 37 Act County System.

Classic employees – 2.7% @ 55 formula, highest 3 year average compensation. Employees contribute 8%.

PEPRA employees – hired after 1/1/13 or Classic employees with 6 month break in service are eligible for a 2% @ 62 formula, highest 3 year average compensation. Currently, employees contribute 5.75% and effective July 1, 2020 the employee contribution rate will be 6.25% of salary (subject to change). All provisions shall be as required by PEPRA.

Health Insurance: CalPERS health care, which makes available a variety of medical plans. The premium contribution made by MMWD for 2020 is $868.98 employee only; $1,737.96 employee + 1 or more; opt out-payment of $100 per pay period.

Dental: Dental insurance is available to employees and their families.
